The Doctor's Inn Virginia

Beautiful B&B. Very cared for and has everything a guest might need. It has a charm from the last century but with all modern amenities. We had a lovely time staying here for one night.

My wife and I were recently traveling down the Blue Ridge Parkway and wanted to break up our trip, so we decided to find a B&B in Galax. Well, we found a great one in The Doctor’s Inn. When we arrived, Margo greeted us kindly and with a welcoming manner. She made us feel comfortable, almost as comfortable as our room. We learned that the house was built in 1913 and Margo gave us some history of the owners and how they applied their own taste and charm to the house. We stayed in the Stamey Room. There were newspaper and magazine articles in our room about the couple and the influence which the owner’s wife, Brenda, had on the house, and her community in the short time she was there before she passed. The room was nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast – Oh my! Margo cooked a Spinach Quiche with a side of bacon and fresh fruit. Delicious! It was nice getting to meet folks from other parts of our fine country. If you’re looking for a B&B near the Blue Ridge Parkway, take a close look at The Doctor’s Inn. You’ll be glad you did. We were.

Lovely B&B. Beds were very comfortable with great sheets. Lots of thoughtful amenities. Breakfast was very good. Enjoyed our stay. Bicycles in the New River trail entering 1/2 mile away in Galax. Very picturesque, great trails and we had perfect weather. Make sure you take plenty of water and food for the trail ride. Would love to do it again!

When I picture a B&B, This is exactly what I picture.

Used this as our home base for two nights while biking the New River Trail. Arranged shuttle service through New River Outfitters in Fries, VA. This was the ideal spot for us. Larger town than most along the trail, with ample restaurants and even some musical entertainment at the Rex Theater. The Doctor's Inn was one of the loveliest B7B's we've stayed in. Everything was perfect, from the gorgeous front porch, perfect for afternoon wine and cheese or early morning coffee, to the bathrooms stocked with everything from makeup remover cloths to any toiletry you might have forgotten to pack. It was impeccably clean, and Im super picky! Margo was a great host and we enjoyed her breakfasts and chatting with her.

Absolutely beautiful property, exactly as described. To be aware that whilst each room has its own bathroom, they are not ensuite, and off a communal hallway. It really is a lovely house though and well worth a visit. The Innkeeper Margot is wonderful and it was a real pleasure to have met her.

This is an absolutely beautiful home! Well-maintained, quiet, with gorgeous furniture and decorative pieces from around the world. It has so many spots in which to curl up and relax or read or just stop your busy life. I’m coming back in warmer weather just to sit in the lovely front porch and watch the sun rise! Conveniently located, you can walk into town to the wonderful shops and restaurants. And Margo is now a forever-friend. She’s a great listener, so easy to talk to, and is just a lovely person who will nurture you AND make you a fabulous breakfast
