The Reef 28 - Adults Only - All Suites - with optional All Inclusive

Everything great except food very average/bad

Reef 28 is a very beautiful hotel. It is perfectly located in Playa Del Carmen, just minutes from the beach. The customer service at the front desk was great. However, if you arrive early there is no safe place to stow luggage. Our luggage was left in the lobby for over three hours. Our room wasn't ready until well after 3:30 p.m. The rooftop pool is great, but there is no DJ, the hot tubs are lukewarm and the restaurant service is extremely slow. It took almost 30 minutes to receive nachos and two cocktails. There were only four people at the restaurant and over 10 staff members, so I am not sure what the problem was. The hotel restaurants service is also very slow. It took over 20 minutes to receive a wine menu. an hour for our food to come out and the waitstaff only checked on us twice. Again, there were only 8 people dining at the restaurant. Overall, our experience was great. The rooms were beautiful, the shower was AMAZING, the patio was relaxing and the common areas were well kept. The food service needs a lot of help. Room service took 45 min to an hour and almost always forgot something. I would give Reef 28 another try in a couple of years. Staff needs a lot more training.

This place is beautiful. Was perfect for our girls trip. The service is amazing. Monserrat at the Roof top bar is the absolute best. Eileen was also great and Angel from the front desk. We were a big group with lots of demands that were happily met. The location is also great as you are a block from 5th avenue and also close to Mamitas beach.
