Hotel Cocoa

The staff was very friendly although English was not that good. The room was clean and spacious. The bathtub was very good! I opted for half board. The food was very good. Only bad thing was the main heater was spoiled. I was given another potable heater, but it was not strong enough to keep the room warm. Overall, as the location is not that good, I recommend this hotel if you have a car

The hotel room had a lovely view of the lake from both the bedroom and the bath. We really enjoyed our stay here. Minor downsides, it has no wifi and it is a little far from the main town if you don't have a car.

This might be useful to those planning to stay here without a car. We arrived by train at Toya station and walked to the 7-11 to stock up food for our 5-night stay. We took a taxi from Toya station to the hotel (around 3,500 yen). The hotel is pretty isolated (except for the lovely Lake hill farm, which offers space outdoors and nice food). We walked around every day, but there are no trail, just roads, so that's not great. Still, we enjoyed strolling around the empty small roads along the fields. We also walked to Toyako (the village) but it takes about 2h and it's uphill coming back, on a trafficked road. The hotel is lovely. Cleaning is not very thorough but if you leave the room very tidy they'll clean pretty much everything. Very helpful staff: only some speak English but it was good anyway. We didn't try room service due to others saying it was not great.

Very big room, staff are very nice, but location is quite far from lake...we stau st 1st floor so cannot see view from the room.... but overall is very good.

Love that the room and toilet are huge, with a bathtub (jacuzzi like) overlooking Lake Toya. Amenities were sufficient too. However, it takes about 6km drive to the “town” area for convenience stores, restaurants, etc. There were a lot of insects found in the toilet after our first night because we left the toilet ventilation on for the whole night by accident. Generally, do expect to see insects once you step out of the building because it’s located up in the mountain. But that said, would absolutely recommend Hotel Cocoa if you drive!

Big hotel room with view of lake toya and a jacuzzi bathtub make my stay a very enjoyable one. 15 minute drive from JR station, not in town area, need to take a cab to hotel. The owner is an elderly lady who graciously drove me to JR station the next morning. Thank you for going that extra miles.
