A fantastic little find on the shores of Ullswater. Amazing staff. Great food. Brewery on site. What’s not to like.

Ideally situated for overnight stop for walkers. Breakfast included.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring the northern lakes and is dog friendly too.We had a room that is probably ready for a refurbishment and the view was one of the side of the hotel, the carpets needed cleaning or perhaps changing to hard surface as i expect dogs and owners are coming in with muddy boots.The staff were pleasant and helpful,the breakfast ok.

Nice place in lovely location with stunning view. Room, food, drink and service all perfectly fine - good value for money.

Only a few helpful staff, no the area well as I was bought up there. Forgot a dog bed and told them straight away and was told they would send it asap. Even paid for the postage in good faith. Never sent!! won't be returning!!

This is a good place to stay. Good food, good local beer, friendly staff and good location. Only a couple of miles from Pooley Bridge and beyond. There is a bus stop outside if you do not drive and local taxi companies can pick you up. We liked the place and stayed three nights. We don’t drive and managed okay.

You couldnt pick a nicer setting for a property, the view over Ullswater lake is breathtaking. Our accomodation was huge (an apartment separate from main building) , a little dated needs some TLC but otherwise clean and suited us for what we needed. All the staff very friendly, the barman, i feel, is misunderstood, he has a dry sense of humour which we found amusing as we are very similar but i know others took it the wrong the way. All our meals here were delicious, you can tell its all cooked from fresh. Evening meal service was a little slow so not ideal if your looking to eat and go. That being said we were in no rush to go anywhere as we were staying here, the food was lovely and so is the beer which is brewed onsite and it meant we had more time to take in the beautiful views as the restaurant over looks the lake. Overall i would definitely come back and will be recommending to others.

Positives: it is very close to Ullswater; it is very clean and the breakfast was excellent. Negatives: a triple room is for 3 people, it shouldn’t be up to guests to go back to reception to collect the correct number of towels; charged for a superior room (as booked) but apparently these aren’t available in triples- although this website is still selling them; staff making disparaging comments about meal choices while serving them; doesn’t respond to or act on emails regarding the stay.

Had 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lovely clean room, great food and beers reasonably priced. Staff were fab too.
