Wonderful views; good, not great, hotel

The setting is very nice and the views beautiful. The pool and grounds are pleasant. As for the hotel itself, it's just average. The standard rooms are small, though there's a nice veranda attached. The bathroom is tight, with no window or ventilation and no place to put cosmetics and such. The kitchenette is a nice convenience. In terms of decor, it seems as though they're going for rustic, but it comes off as somewhat shabby. It was annoying that you have to book a room cleaning 24 hours in advance, and they didn't even make the bed. Also annoying were their rules about using their kayaks. A member of our party saw two kayaks sitting on the dock and asked to take one out. Hotel staff said they couldn't, because they hadn't reserved in advance. Staff admitted, however, that both kayaks were unreserved for the next two hours.

June stay at Paradise Bay

I was in one of the more budget friendly rooms which meant there was one wall A/C unit in the main living area but nothing to cool either of the bedrooms, ie. no fans. This also meant that I walked by either the propane tank or down a back alley to get to my room, which was not horrible, but kinda weird. There were also ants in my bed (no more than 20) on my first night, but because I had already unpacked and gotten situated, I chose to just kill them myself and reassess the situation the next day. I did not report the ants to the front desk because there were no others that showed up after the first night. My porch light was burnt out and the bathtub did not have a stopper and when these were reported, the light was fixed within a few hours and they did try to bring a stopper, but it did not work with my tub, and I was assured they would have someone get something that would work, but I did not ever get anything back from them. The staff were incredibly friendly the entire time, so all my interactions were very pleasant. There were several lights on the very steep steps that I had to walk to get down to the dock rooms where the others in my party were staying that were burnt out as well, but this resort is getting a bit of a facelift right now so I think they are addressing things as they go along. All in all, I would totally recommend this resort and I would even go back again, but you will totally get what you pay for so bear that in mind when you are booking.

Didn’t like the roosters, noisy early. Liked that you could store some things in fridge and cook if you want, saved money. Centrally located for day excursions north or south shores. Activities pool/hot tub, kayaking.

Beautiful, quiet setting with kayak and paddle board options. One down side was the restaurant and kitchen were under construction during our stay. Very limited parking. The property stongly discourages having any visitors from outside the property.

Ok stay in Paradise

The resort has a lovely view of Paradise Bay. We had a nice upgrade to penthouse but the lanai has no shade after noontime so it is too hot to enjoy. Close to many local attractions and nice beaches in Kailua, and to the north. A good 20 minutes in either direction. The water is wonderful. Many places to grab lunch or dinner in the area. The kitchen was a plus to make breakfast and coffee. Lots of dishes and glasses and pots and pans to either create or enjoy a delicious takeout option. The resort itself offers no meals or beverages.(due to Covid restrictions)Beds were very comfortable and linens were top notch. They do offer beach towels and use of kayaks. The ice machine worked well. There is a pool on site. Staff was helpful and pleasant. There are many roosters in the neighborhood so you get an early wake-up.

Ask for water level rooms

We enjoyed our time at Paradise Bay Resort because it is a perfect location for travelling around to points of interest and close to grocery stores etc. Unfortunately our room was a bit run down although very clean and a great bed. I didn't tell them we were seniors. The pool is down 3 flights of stairs, 48 steep steps. The kitchen had 1 pan and 1 pot, nothing for using the oven so it was difficult finding ways to cook. The staff was friendly but we had to ask for everything, dish soap, coffee, towels online and had to go into the office as well. The rooms at the water level look like a much higher quality so if you're going there, advise them not to put you at the road edge rooms...motel style.
