Traditional pub with lovely garden and staff

The car park was large and felt safe and the garden was very pretty with plenty of tables abs beautiful plants everywhere. The check in was pleasant and the young lady very helpful but we weren’t given any tea or coffee for our room. The room was pleasant and what you would expect in such an old building. The furniture was basic but the bedding was nice and very clean. The bathroom was again pleasant and in keeping but the towels were tiny and there was no shower curtain for the hand-held shower which was sometimes warm but mainly cold. Dinner was very nice - the menu was good and prices reasonable. Breakfast was ok. Overall a great little olde worlde pub with helpful staff but could do with a bit of tlc.

Such potential but sadly let down

This hotel has such potential but the attention to detail is sadly lacking. You request tea/coffee for in your room. I asked for 2 people, I hardly feel that 3 little milks is enough for 2. Our teapot on the second morning had dried tea stains under the spout, clearly not cleaned properly from prior use. Made we wonder the hygiene standards in light of covid! Similar too the issue with room bins. There is a notice saying rooms would not be entered by staff during our stay and to place rubbish outside the door. We placed a full bag outside our door at 8.30am only to see it still there when we returned that day at 5.30pm. The bathroom backsplash was splattered with previous guests toothpaste and one of the glasses still felt grainy after I’d washed it myself. There was also a large blob of mayonnaise on the salt shaker at breakfast. Cobwebs and insects stuck in them on the windowsill in the bedroom. Hardly ‘deep cleaned’. At breakfast, there was visible piles of ‘clutter’ everywhere, stacks of papers bundled under the router, open boxes all over, odd storage cabinets next to tables, cupboards left half open so untidy contents open to guests. There is also nowhere for those who smoke to leave cigarette ends, so when you enter you are met with many on the floor at the entrance. A staff member served our breakfasts and brought different crockery 3 times before she said a word, even though we thanked her on each occasion. Beds were comfortable but awoken by slammed bins at 4.30am!

Overnight stay at the coaching inn

The rooms are clean and comfortable, lovely pub that serves really good food.

old world charm

Only a couple of guests so service very prompt at breakfast. It’s an old coaching inn so the rooms are old fashioned but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and host was very friendly. We are likely to stay again when we visit the area

Good location pub a bit tired

Good location for walking in immediate area or taking a bus to either Herne Bay or Faversham to explore a wider area. Bedroom was good size and bed comfortable public areas a bit tired. Menu ( we only had lunch) was reasonably good and of our choices the ribs were excellent but the salmon fillet looked like a half portion and certainly looked tiny compared to the tuna fillet we witnessed on the next table.

Disinterested staff, expensive with no value, poor service throughout. The pub itself was closed at every opportunity, it genuinely felt like we were an inconvenience.

Room was dated and not clean, expected more for £70. Staff not welcoming throughout. The breakfast was awful, a sausage that looked like it had been cooked several times then heated up, hard bacon and the black puddung was inedible. Teapot was stained, no preserves with your toast, for £9 was very disappointing.

Excellent Service

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, check-in was a breeze and they were very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again
