Dewitt Hotel and Suites

This Hotel sucks. If I could give negative stars I certainly would. First I noticed the musty smell of the Hotel. Second they only have one personal elevator and one freight elevator. Then the room. There are no controls to adjust the temperature or turn on/off the air/heat.

Condition of the room, cleanliness the MNT in the room

Great location loved older historic building. Room floor and sheets not certain 100% clean. Found wad of hair on bedsheet. Found dusty corners on floors. A piece of paper trash behind dresser. Curious event. Experienced banging on my door at 1:30 am. Others downstairs too. Talked to guest floor below me. Was this a drunk guest banging on doors ? Or a ghost? Is there security? Other than that front desk nice and mansetting up coffee in sitting room nice.

Old hotel. Uneven floors, cheap furniture. Small bathroom. Uncomfortable pillows. Noisy radiators. Slow elevator. Two star at best. No HD tv service.

The hotel is "vintage" and wonderful. One reveiw I read said that it could use a good cleaning, but I thought it was very well maintained for an older building. My mother attended nurses training in Chicago 60 years ago and this studio apartment at the DeWitt was 2 blocks from where she lived and exactly as she described her first shared apartment with other nurse trainees. I felt like I was 2 years old and living away from home for the first time in my own adorable little apartment. I was a block from the lake and 2 blocks from Magnificent Mile. It was warm, cozy, convenient, and the staff were kind and helpful. I will definitley recommend the DeWitt and I'm already looking forward to my next stay. Please don't renovate too much. The nostalgic aspect is charming!
