Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Talladega

We booked and paid through Expedia. We decided not to go the first night cause of a work conflict. I tried a fat before well before 24 hours to cancel. Unable to cancel fine our fault we just figured we will pay for the night and use the secondary night as originally planned. We showed up the secondary night to find that since we didn’t show up the first night the hotel automatically canceled our rooms without a call nor notice to us! We were lucky to be able to book because they were not full it had to pay a lot more money than originally booked. No good!!!

We were disappointed because the hotel was under reconstruction. The pool was closed and no breakfast was served. If I had called to verify these things, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere.

In Aug 2020 the building was being renovated- the room we were in had not been renovated and needed it. I'm sure it will be nicer when the work is done. The staff was great.

The staff was extremely accommodating. The problem: they are not offering any type of breakfast, not even to go. The outdoor pool isnt open. Its like they are using Covid to be lazy. Ive stayed in over a dozen hilton/hampton inns during the pandemic in half a dozen states including Alabama. ALL of them are still offering to go breakfast at the very least and all the pools have been open. Just laziness IMHO.

Disappointed that rates were not adjusted for no continental breakfast and construction.

Clean , nice staff. Good location for us . Remodeling but everything was neat.

The staff was very kind. It was mostly clean although I dropped something behind the bed and it was a bit scary retrieving it. It is under construction so it will be nice to see the improvements once done.

The parking was bad. We had no room to park trailers.

Room smells terrible and the carpet is extremely dirty and old. Several other rooms booked by friends on this trip and their rooms are the same. Will not stay here again! Halls are dirty and walls, lamp shades, curtains etc have stains of all kinds. You may want to consider staying in a different city and driving back and forth if you have something to do in the area because this is reportedly one of the “nicer” hotels here.

The staff were polite and helpful. But our room spelled like coffee or burnt toast. It was strange. Bed was comfortable. The hotel does need some updates. I thought it was pricey for the condition. Unfortunately, it is too far from the highway and there was no place nearby to have dinner.
