The Inverleith Hotel

Well placed for access to the places we wanted to go. Good parking on street for an urban hotel.

They do not have parking. And when we checked in the reception gal could not explain where to park do to a Spanish/Scottish dialect I could not understand. 'you can geeet an ap-leee-ca-tion'. You can paaak 27 ?? What? Drove all over looking for a parking facility. Came back, asked a man walkng his dog and if I parked far enough up the street I could park on the street with a 5lb metered charge. Fine, but why couldn't the hotel, which has no parking tell me. The gal the next day was much better, but when I suggested that they make a parking instruction / map for FUTURE guests she couldn't comprehend why that would be a good idea. F-me, I just had to try to navigate around by myself Edinburgh at rush hour looking for a parking garage after driving all day. And there is an easy solution if EXPLAINED properly.

Lovely hotel, free street parking at weekends, adjacent to botanical gardens, short walk from town (I got bus into town and walked back as there's a big hill to navigate!) Buses at end of the street and regular, even in a Sunday. Only slight dampener's were that I don't think my mattress was the advertised 'memory foam' and there was a bit of racket from people having to check out early to catch flights or something. However this could possibly be avoided if you ask to be on a higher floor than anyone leaving early if you're a light sleeper and hoping for a long lie! Lovely friendly receptionist.

Great short- notice stay, excellent value . Lovely location right by the Botanical Gardens, and a short walk to the coffee and browsing charms of Stockbridge
