Hostal Castilla I

Excellent location, clean and convenient room, very helpful and friendly staff, excellent price to value ratio, air conditioner.

We actually stayed at Hostel Castille II which is a five minute walk away from HC I. Easy check in and surprisingly large room. There was enough room for our suitcases. The bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water. It was steps from Puerta del Sol so easy access to/from the metro. We could hear a little noise from other rooms but it wasn’t disruptive. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great stay. Room is small but comfortable. Centrally located in Madrid. Nice new bathroom with great shower area. Ok price for exploring Madrid.

Great location for tourism, central to main sights in Madrid and ~ 10-15 minute walk to Atocha train station. Room was small but clean and comfortable, and included hot water kettle. The hotel takes up half a floor in a bigger building; to enter, you'll often have to ring them at the building's entrance door, then ring their doorbell once you get to the correct floor. It was a slight bother but the staff was always responsive and let me in quickly. Staff was friendly overall -- they sent me a text via WhatsApp prior to my stay to get my estimated check-in time and answer any questions I had.
