Pension Neuer Markt

This hotel was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. The whole hotel smelled like smoke including the rooms. The carpet was filthy and stained. The elevator was old, dirty and creaky and had a sign that said “Do not shake!” The fire system was in the process of “being updated.” I don’t think the hotel was safe at all. The picture of the front of the hotel when we booked was even different from the actual hotel. We complained and the hotel manager was supposed to contact us, but of course, never did. We checked out within 5 minutes of checking again and went to a much much nicer hotel for the same price 5 minutes away. Never again!!!!

This hotel is in need of an update. It is difficult to call this a hotel as it is on 2 floors of a mixed use building. It seems more of a boarding house. The whole place appears to be falling apart. They were updating the fire system when we were there, which seems a good idea as it seems at risk for electrical fires. The carpeting is disgusting and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. I don’t need fancy hotels, but clean and maintained are expected when I pay this price for a hotel.

We arrived in Vienna by bus, so decided to take a cab to the hotel. It is in a building with other businesses. The hotel starts on the 2nd floor. Our room was comfotable, it had a combo tub/shower and an overlook down onto a huge entire street construction site that we found fascinating! The morning breakfast was delicious, the tables all had a nice tablecloth setting in a room with a chandelier! The reception desk was very helpful. The best part was the location. The transportation system was easy to get to but many of the must sees like the Opera House, St Stephens Church, Hamburg Palace, and the museums were within easy walking distance. Food places were right outside the door.

We stayed there for 3 nights . It was a wonderful stay . First of all the hotel’s location was unbeatable . Within short walking distances to the the major sights in the old centre . Brigitt was very professional and personable giving all the information we needed . What’s more , the breakfast was tasty it always had something for everyone . Will definitely stay here again when retuning to Vienna .

Perfect location, very friendly staff and comfy spacious room except for the toilet shower its very small

Hot water was running slow. Hay dryer didn’t work. The bd was stiff

Very historic old building and great central location. Room quality was fine, carpet old and beds very low etc but ok. Breakfast buffet was a nice treat.

1 block from Graben and Karnterstraffe (no cars, restaurants, bars, shopping), St. Stephan Cathedral. Metro station and other sites within walking distance. Staff are helpful, friendly. Breakfast buffet is ok, (other places are nearby). Supermarket next door. Room was good and had all you need. Very dated and could use a facelift. Located on 2nd and 3rd floors of building. Front access door is heavy and need force to enter, elevator is small and slow.
