Tropical feel with nice people

The staff was super nice, the studio beautiful and useful, clean and nice. Supermarket and bakery next door, as well as some restaurants. The plants and flowers in the hotel are just amazing, like living in a botanical garden. Would definitely repeat if I come back to Madeira.

It was a shane that La Perla was not open. I think the Siddartha bar could serve light snacks in the evening as well as during the day. Otherwise our stst was a total delight from every point of view. Our grateful thanks to the splendid staff and of course the garden is a work of art!

It was a lovely room and we loved every minutes of our stay there. The only thing was that the toilet was a nuisance as we had to flush at least twice and rather uncomfortable to sit, and also the hair dryer was useless.

Overall very enjoyable and relaxing. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The premises are kept clean and well maintained. The pool, bars and restaurants are all well positioned and popular. Very useful free daily minibus to Funchal The downside was the cost of "extras". You are charged for parking, the hire of a lock for the room safe and the use of the Spa.

Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden

Stayed at this resort for a little over a week in August 2018 in one of the rooms associated with the Spa. Standards are high, gardens are very pleasant and looked after on a daily basis. They grow their own veg on site. The room was huge, but was also far to hot and impossible to cool down. There is no air conditioning at this location which is odd for somewhere claiming 4* accommodation. The Galleria restaurant offers buffet or a la carte menus. Food was above average. The location like much of Madeira is on a hill. If you have mobility problems, there are steps in many locations, the site can be accessed on a path that extends from the top to the bottom, the equivalent of approx 3-4 flights of stairs. So going down the hill is easy, but going up, a little tougher. You get one tea bag each on your first day. It never gets replaced. If you want tea each morning you need to go out and buy a pack of tea bags and milk! Car parking is a challenge. There is not sufficient car parking and if you return after 6pm it is unlikely you can park on the premises. Additional Parking is close by in an underground car park. The Spa left something to be desired. Small and adequate, but nothing outstanding. The welcome in the Spa for the one day we used it was quite cool and admonishing because we bought the wrong towel. Smart restaurant operates 3 days a week. Expensive, but very high standard. Restaurant staff in all areas very courteous and polite. WiFi was not great.

Birthday treat

An outstanding hotel, really fantastic. We had a beautiful suite with a stunning view and the staff were very friendly. Swimming each morning before breakfast was great. We also thought the staff were very helpful. An improvement could be better wifi throughout the hotel.

Tranquil hotel and spa with beautiful gardens.

Lovely stay, very helpful staff and beautiful surroundings. For a hotel, also didn't feel overly expensive. Gardens are really very impressive and the pool area is quiet and comfortable. Rooms are large and spacious and we made good use of the garden area and the little kitchen facility.

I'd just go to Madeira for this hotel.

I love this place!! The hotel is set in the middle of a well maintained botanical garden, and is always filled with flowers, and truly beautiful. It has everything you need for relaxing, peaceful holiday, and staffs are always friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is a little on the old side but is nicely kept and you are guaranteed to have a pleasant stay there. We have stayed at Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden for much needed holiday + my birthday. We stayed there for just over a week, for total relaxation and maybe to catch a little sun. I had stayed there on my own previously and really loved the setting and the spa, and insisted that my partner would join me this time. We have booked double occupancy apartment, which came with a large lounge, kitchenette and balcony. Kitchen facility is a MUST for me, as I like to cook light breakfast/lunch so we can go out and enjoy local cuisine for dinner. There is a large supermarket nearby, too. We weren't expecting any wifi access from the room, which is not part of the room, but we could sort of catch it if we stand on the balcony, so we were quite pleased. Hotel gave us a nice treat for my birthday extra when we booked to dine at La Perla, the food was fab, too. We were rained in quite a bit during our stay but were happy to find a pool table and a mini-gym that were free of charge. We also enjoyed our visit to spa, the treatments are not cheap but are really good, and facilities are small but cosy and relaxing.

Great stay in a botanical garden

We went to Madeira for a week off-season. The hotel and the island are nicely quit off-season. The botanical garden is beautiful and a nice tease for the beauty of the rest of the island. We had a great stay with a mixture of relaxing, hiking in the mountains and along the coast, sunshine and good food and Madeira wine.
