Prestige Inn Nelson

I like staying at this hotel and really look forward to getting there when I travel to Nelson by Greyhound bus. It’s a short walk from the depot, still a bit of a haul getting a suitcase up the hill ... this time when I checked in I was told rather brusquely ‘no breakfast voucher when you book online’. This is not true of all my past experiences at the Prestige Inn, and I didn’t feel the pleasant welcome that I have come to expect. The next morning it was explained to me that front desk staff often ‘bend the rules’ with the breakfast vouchers, and then in fact I was given a voucher which I did appreciate. Checking out was a positive experience, and I felt reassured that most of the time the staff do care about their guests. I will stay there again but will not make the booking online.

Breakfast is only included if you book directly with Prestige Inns. If you book through Hotels.com or any other second party, breakfast is not included. Staff is very pleasant.

It was nice and clean, with a big room and nice furniture but it's a narrow building between a highway and a railroad track. There's nothing else in the building, no restaurant, pool or gym, it's all at the other prestige around a ten minute walk away. I didn't realize that when booking, and the pool was one of the main reasons I picked that one and it was reaaallly cold so I didn't want to travel to the other location. Also the WIFI kind of sucked, you have to pay more for better wifi. But otherwise, it was a pleasant stay!

Suite was great, clean. Train came by a couple times but it was time to get up anyways. Town is a lot of fun!. Must go to the hot springs after a day of hard skiing.
