Mercure Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island

Well organised from collection from airport to ferry then the resort, 4x4 tour is amazing and a good way to see the island and the whale watching was an amazing experience, the only down fall is it's very expensive to eat and drink and if your only have a room only, very limited what you can do

Mmmm, well, Don't know why I keep going back to this place honestly. Was greeted by a vague look from the check in member, the manager, and asked when the booking was made etc. Thought here we go again. Was issued with a room, superior room I might add which is what I paid extra for. The key card would not work to get access to the room. Tracked down a maintenance guy who let us in. Our cards were blank! Greeted by an overwhelming smell of some cheep deodorizer that made our eyes water. Opened the balcony sliding screen door to air the room out as the door fell off the tracks completely. It was then I noticed large patches of mold on the single bed. OMG. Off to reception I went. To cut a long and painful story short, we finally got moved to a upstairs room above. After two hours of checking in we could finally start our break. The morning of departure we were issued with an invoice for $450.00 for 4 breakfasts we didn't have and a return barge from resort we didn't use. Came and left via Inskip barge. 20 min to try to clear the issue up with the invoice. OMG. Meals expensive and ordinary. Enough said. Have watched this place deteriorate over the past 6 years that we have been going there. All management related in my view. The staff looked flogged. Especially at the burger bar, Oh sorry, the sand bar bistro. They have destroyed a once lovely and enjoyable place. Won't be back. A real shame.

If you want to stay at Fraser Island we can highly recommend to stay at Mercure Kingfisher Bay Resort. The staff is very professionel and the resort is unique. You feel like being in the nature but at the same time you have all the great benefit of the hotel. Remember to take at beutiful spot tour with Martin during your stay. An unforgettable experience.

4 nights stay with my wife to celebrate her 50th birthday. Very good weather and great location

The hotel itself is badly in need of an upgrade but it still seems like the best option available on Fraser island. I have had issues with this brand of hotel before but had little choice this time. NI from reception and Chris (also from reception) were lovely as were most of the guides. The high point of the hotel was the restaurant - an experience not to be missed! The beauty spots tour and the canoe tour were both great fun and the bush tucker food evening was fabulous. However, I splurged on a private tour which ended up a great disappointment. I did not get any of my money's worth - the guide, Martin was just not interested in giving me the tour. Now I know not to splurge on private tours. Fraser Island is so beautiful and such a unique experience it will remain one of the highlights of my trip.
