Hotel staff very friendly efficient and helpful. The hotel had taken every precaution under the current circumstances and felt very safe. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
My mother & I stayed 3 nights at the Olde Barn whilst visting friends. Our room was quiet, comfortable & adequately clean. The carpet was a bit worn but the rest of the decor looked good. The beds were comfortable, the shower had good pressure & plenty of hot water. Food in the restaurant was usual pub food & of a reasonable standard. The pool is very nice & our treatments (massage) were fabulous. All the staff were helpful & friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in a great location for our needs and the entrance experience was ideal, friendly, inviting and clean. Our room was way down the other end of the property though and once at the door, it felt like a student halls of residence, not because of the noise, but because it seemed to have been forgotten about. The room size was fine, although the standard didn't match the category name. The condition of the room was clean in terms of linen and surfaces, but I left my socks on, the carpet looked like it had been down for 20 years. I know its a first world thing, but the TV was so small that it was more like having a radio on because you couldn't see it clearly from the other side of the room, 4m away! The best part was the shower door. At 04:30 in the morning, I was re-fitting it after it came out of its runners while trying to close it... that was special. But, we slept well, it was comfortable and quite, so for our needs it was ideal as we were in late and out early and will use the hotel again, but only through lack of choice in the area. I think/hope the experience would have been much better in the front end of the hotel which is seen more by the staff.
Fantastic value for money and will stay there again
All good apart from a very dirty shower, black mould around door seals!
The hotel staff were very welcoming and the ladies at breakfast were excellent. It was a shame that the restaurant wasn't open in the evenings as only bar food was available.
Pretty tired looking place. Shower door hanging off and seals covered on mould. Mattress not particularly comfy. There’s much better hotels at better rates around.
We stayed for 3 nights to visit family in the area. Staff were very good but hotel could do with refurbishment. We had no hot water in our room for the first day and as no maintenance man on site had to move to another but staff were very helpful with this
In an isolated rural location this hotel is far from sévices yet doesn't offer an attractive rural setting.. Busy parking but a space can be found in this umimgantively laid out parking area.. Hotel reception friendly.. The foyer gives you the first impression of this dated hotel.. A long and convoluted walk past a confusing set of stairs and some ad-hoc style lift gets you to the rooms... Passing some ceiling void laying in the corridor sets the scene.. The room was very small but okay for one person.. The room had without doubt the smallest, cheapest TV they could find.. Bathroom was okay though.. I went out for my evening meal - a wise move as the hotel meal choice looked very unappealing... Two small single beds but I slept well. I paid for the breakfast option (£10).. Certainly not worth it.. They did have freshly baked croissants though.. My fried egg was served with a wiry, crispy base - not nice... Glad I didn't eat there the previous evening. We'll okay (just) for one night... Look elsewhere though if you can...
Booked a family room and got room 501 with 2 double beds. Huge crack in bath panel huge crack in top of bath, dead bugs in the bath and in bathroom floor, spiders in every corner of room. Cold tap hardly worked, toilet handle was stiff and hard to flush. Big hole with screw sticking out next to headboard. Live moth under my quilt. Tear in quilt cover. Thread bare carpet near bedside table and some one else's toe nail on floor. Room was disgusting so i complained. I was given a new room with 2 single beds and you would think it was a different hotel altogether. Very clean, modern, lovely bathroom. I will ask for one of these rooms if we stay again. However the new room keys wouldnt work, so the man went and got new ones which again wouldnt work. So the manager came with some machine to re set the door locking system ...that didn't work. I said we wouldn't be leaving our room as it was now 9:30pm so we didn't need room key. I definitely wouldn't book a family room here again as it was like a room that time forgot. The manager was very very good. She was run off her feet bless her as she was on reception, manning the bar, taking food orders and bring food to tables then cleaning them after, and remained professional and happy all the time. Breakfast was just a reduced continental affair and we both only had cornflakes and a glass of orange. It would of been nice to have had a banana or a yogurt there were pastries, but i dont like pastries for breakfast
