Not five star imo

Beautiful interiors and building. Room lovely and well laid out although the bench seat was not comfortable and an armchair would be much better. No USB charging sockets and no usb plugs available to borrow necessitating a run around town trying to find a shop selling these. Also no coffee machine. And an old style phone which every few minutes would ding preventing you from drifting off to sleep! We had to unplug it once we realised it was the phone making the noise. Also an enormous noisy kitchen fan immediately outside our room. Awful. I don’t know how this hotel has a five star rating or maybe I read that wrong?

Great stay

Fantastic location which also meant it was very busy in the front garden which made it very lively and not ideal for an afternoon nap when you have a room at the front of the building. Service was friendly and the breakfast was lovely

Terrace room

Amazing hotel in a great location to explore York. Staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout visit. Stayed in terrace room, very clean and well maintained, comfy bed, room cleaned daily, nice shower and air con. Only gripe was although lots of tea/coffee in room you had to put sign on room for fresh milk which delivered in a flask only lasts upto 4 hours as theres no fridge in the room. You could ask at bar/ reception, which we did, but if you just fancy a quick cuppa is a bit of a faff. We had a cooked breakfast both days of our stay, very nice and freshly cooked though coffee could've been a bit warmer. Overall would highly recommend Judges lodgings, beautiful building and excellent staff and brilliant location.

Good hotel, fabulous location

I really do like the Judges Lodgings and will stay again. I previously gave 5 stars for everything my only issue this time was the cleanliness in the bathroom. There was a film around the bathtub. This was the only issue, everything else was great. Location is superb. Staff lovely.

Highly recommended

Lovely hotel, I’d for sure stay here again. Perfect location, walkable from the station if you have wheels on your suitcase. Lovely, helpful staff. A listed building with beautiful decor, and the food and ambiance in the bar is excellent. My room was very good, clean etc. I was surprised that it was tidied each day, thought that was a thing of the past. I gave it a so-so rating on eco-friendliness because they replaced my towels each day even though I hung them up. Would have liked a way to indicate it wasn’t necessary.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location

Went for a short break with my daughter. We loved the hotel. The decor is very nice, fabulous cellar bar. The room was really nice, we stayed in a twin room number 18 (Clerks office) on the ground floor, it was a lovely room and great bathroom, really good shower. Our only issue was that the room was next door to the store rooms and we were awoken early with the staff in and out with lots of doors banging. This hotel is in a fabulous location, a few minutes walk to York Minster, the high street and only 6 minutes walk to the York Grand Theatre. One minute walk to the beautiful museum gardens. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back.

Great location and good value.

Lovely room, very comfortable and in a great inner city location. The hotel and bar itself were really nice and have a lot of seating outside which we did use and will be going back to try in the summer months. The breakfast was very very good, great amount of choice and very tasty. Will definitely go back!

We had a lovely stay at the Judges Lodgings, staff were friendly and welcoming from the start and all went above and beyond. Lovely comfortable room and the furnishings and decor in the whole hotel are stunning. Will definitely return when another treat is due.
