La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Des Moines West Clive

Under the table in my room was very dirty and the hallway/stairwell clearly hadn’t been cleaned at all (I was only there for about 12 hours overnight so maybe the mess was from that day but did not appear that way), a little concerning during a pandemic but otherwise fine for one night with pets on a drive from colorado to the east coast. Nice that pets stay free, not really a good place to walk your dog though, grass area closest to hotel was extremely littered with cigarette boxes, beer bottles, trash etc.

No so clean to be honest... kinda dumpy with a sketchy elevator.

Went very well. Clean comfortable room, Good service with no problems. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Had no trouble hooking up a laptop or fire stick to watch TV. Fast internet. Will definitely stay there again.

It took FOUR trips up and back down to the third and fourth floors to get a room key that worked or a floor to stay on that didn’t COMPLETELY REEK of marijuana. The room we stayed in smelled SO POWERFULLY strong of carpet fresh powdery carpet cleaner, had to sleep with window open. We won’t stay there again.

Check in was ok. Desk person was very nice and helpful. Hallways could be cleaner and the whole place needs updating.

This hotel has a horrible smell that stays on your clothes for days. I’m still (4 days later) dealing with this smell.

Basically, we booked this hotel twice. First time, everything was top notch. Great staff, room was clean and reasonably comfortable. On the return, the room assigned was never cleaned from the previous guest. The staff -still great did immediately assign a new room. Second room had the distinct odor of cigarettes, despite being a non smoking room. This was enough that we doubt we will choose this hotel again.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I slept like a log!

This location has some great features. Nearby restaurants, safe with the brightest parking lot I’ve ever seen, and a very well maintained building. Now here’s the less than desirable. 1. Bed was too soft for me. It gave me a back ache. 2. We stayed there 4 nights. It was cleaned once. They should have told us that. I had to go ask for coffee bags and my key stopped working after the first night . Trash was not picked up in the laundry room. That was the only place I could find to dump ours. In summary, I cannot take a chance with those beds again and will not go back.
