The Don CeSar

I stayed on a Monday/Tuesday, not exactly peak vacation time, and paid a small fortune to stay here thinking I was getting 5 star treatment. Hardly. When you arrive you can choose valet or self park. I opted to self park, where it’s $24 a day...very steep considering The lot is a floor below the entrance, There is no elevator, which means i had to carry all of my luggage up 2 flights of stairs. The older doorman who greeted us was warm & friendly, but he was the only one we encountered who was. Checking in was relatively quick, but really no information was given about ANYTHING (how to get Wifi, where the elevator were, etc) except that if you want to use the beach equipment you pay for with your resort fees “you have to do so between 9a-12”. Wow a 3 hour time window to use a kayak. Check in is at 4, so no luck there. We found the room (a junior suite) to be very spacious, but the decor is from the 80’s, the patio door handle was broke, several sockets didn’t work, & they only give you 2 coffees. We immediately went to the beach (at 4p) & they were “closing up”, so no towels. The pool bar had the rudest woman bartender ever, EXPENSIVE and very WEAK drinks, and the pool Water was freezing. For the price...there are tons of better options in St Pete. Not worth the price i paid expecting luxury ($1200/ 2 nights!) for the nostalgia/kitsch of its former glory.

My wife and i visited the Don with another couple for an extended weekend stay. The service was excellent. The food in the restaurant was gourmet and the premises were clean and modernized while remaining true to the art-deco theme.

Beautiful location hotel and amenities where great. Service was very slow waiting to long for food and service.

The hotel was very clean and staff very friendly. The bed was comfortable and nicely decorated but the bathroom was way to small and not user friendly. The food at the casual restaurant was just average. Overall a very nice hotel but overpriced for room, food and drinks.

Ive always wanted to stay at the Don Cesar. The property is iconic and beautiful. However, our stay was a little disappointing. The service is EXTREMELY slow. For example, ordering a roumd of drinks for two people took over an hour. This happened more than once. Why not hire more than one person to serve the entire beach area? Dishes were left out in the hall the entire time we were there (5 nights) and trash cans aroumd the property were often over flowing. The saving grace was the lovely beach views amd sunsets. Also one of the guys at the icecream shop went out of his way to make sure my son had a great experience, and that is very much appreciated. Overall we had a nice stay but i was expecting much better service for the price of the Don.

Excellent service

I'm a local, but I've always wanted to stay here. My suite was breathtaking. Like a small, upscale apartment on the Gulf of Mexico. We had dinner at the Maritana. The oysters were some of the best I've ever had and my filet was perfectly prepared. I highly recommend the entire experience.

Had a great time at the Don CeSar. Stayed on Thanskgiving Day with my partner. We brought food, requested plates and utensils and a microwave and heated up our food we brought. Great Sunset. Yes there's construction, it happens during the day time. I didn't find it distracting since we weren't working from the hotel room, but there for vacation. Service was fantastic and did not match what some previous guest have said.

Tons of construction - even Sunday morning! Not relaxing.
