Nomad Palace Hotel - Nairobi

two taxi drivers refused to take us there because is a very dangerous area, the third one we had to pay extra to take us there.....very, very bad location, no hot water in the hotel , no AC.... do not try to walk outside....

Hotel is not at all situated close to the city centre. It is in a slum/industrial area. There is no airconditioner in the room nor amy ventilation and it was very hot in the room even at night. The internet site did not mention that alcohol (including beer) is not allowed at the room or anywhere else in the hotel. I want to say that all the staff were very professional especially the restaurant staff and cleaning staff. wonderful staff. In relation to the location, "It a terrible location" very far from airport and the city.Center the traffic jams will make you crazy. Potential client should be aware that this hotel is located in the Somalien part of Nairobi. This hotel does not sell alchool, is very noisy and smoky. But the room are chead and clean!

The hotel is far away from the central business district and thus offers no respite in the commute. Also the surroundings do not even allow for an evening walk. Compared to down town Nairobi the location is very bad. It does not have an AC. I stayed here for 1 night as a single female traveller. The location was 20mins from the centre of Nairobi by taxi. The staff were friendly & helpful. My room was clean, spacious & comfortable. the restaurant & coffee shop were really good quality and great value. I was worried about the location as it's on the outskirts of the city centre, however […] i think that was a definate plus, as there was no hassel from the locals & since its out of the tourist district probably a lot safer for tourists to be in a residential area opp a local girls high school. i booked a stay but never made it to the hotel because the taxi drivers are not comfortable driving in that part of the city. they recommend that no foreigners walk on the streets around the hotel- ever. On the drive to the hotel we were stopped by crowds of people from the slums next to the hotel and piles of burning trash.

Clean and relatively new hotel in bad area, but if you are using it to transit in Nightroberry, then it will do. The hotel is fenced and the security is great, as long you stay within the gates.

The hotel seemed like a 2 star hotel both from outside and inside. The staff though were friendly and the breakfast was good and the room generally clean. The main reason I would Not recommend the hotel was because of the neibourhood which had broken roads,small huts everywhere and a very dodgy neighbourhood. Great hotel. Staff were wonderful. Definitely need taxi to Nairobi.

The hotel is smack in the middle of the slums. The staff are nice, the room is clean, the breakfast was good, but they warn you about leaving the hotel gates. Does not seem like a safe area at all. I booked this place for the affordable price, but there are alternatives close to NBO.

Hotel is very good and safe. Neighborhood not that good but don't worry because it's a lot of security. I recommend this hotel to stay as long as you have transportation to get out in car. Nice staff in the hotel.

hotel is ok, verry accomodating restaurant stuff, but strictly no alcohol, (moslem). Price was right for our purpose, (we got there late and had to go early) The hotel is about 20 min from the airport, but would not like to face "rush hour traffic" ..hotel is in a. bad area.

The Nomad Palace Hotel is a nice hotel and staffs nice but the hotel is in the worst area of Nairobi. If you stay in this hotel make sure the taxi picks you up at the front entrance of the of the hotel and drops you back at the front entrance of the hotel. At that price I expected basic/ budget hotel. But it was so much more. It is exactly what it looks like in the pictures. It is a new hotel so the fittings are still in good nick. The reception area was boutique chic and very airy and welcoming which gives a good first impression. The decor was marble and wood and Kenya has good wood. My room was clean […] and much bigger that I expected. I have stayed in 4* hotels in Africa and the rooms have not been as big. The staff was polite and friendly. The restaurant actually provided very good food at a good price. Dinner costed me $US8 - where else in the world would you get that from an international hotel for a full meal. There is an in-house cafe which stayed open until 12 midnight where you can get fast, tasty bites!!The downside - no shower curtain, which is a tad unhygienic - and there was no fan so in the hot months I would imagine the heat must be overbearing. It was quite cool when I was there so the temperature in my room was comfortable. I heard so many negative statements about the location and I admit in parts it is quite slummy. But when you find an oasis in the desert who looks at the sand, you just think about the oasis. If you arrange your tours properly - you would never need to venture into the slum. I was never afraid and in fact I was quite happy to see Kenya at its best - the slums and the tourist hot spots. The airport is 20 minutes away and there is easy access to Nairobi National Park. To the Great Rift Valley it was less than 4 hrs and to the giraffe centre it was about 45 mins. I am so glad I did not stay in the City Centre. I am returning to Kenya next year and I would go right back there at least for part of my stay. I was alone and I felt completely safe Przeczytaj więcej

It was a blessed relief to get off the bus from Arusha and find out that the cheap hotel I'd booked was spotlessly clean, had really warm and welcoming staff and a room which was big, newly decorated and had a great shower. There was no air con which was a surprise but all the linens and so on were up to the standard I would expect in any western hotel […] - and which is seldom matched in cities like Amsterdam for more than double the price of this room! Breakfast was included and very good, even though I turned up half an hour early the staff made an effort to bring me coffee and make sure the food came through promptly for their official start time. I would really recommend this to anyone - I was travelling on a budget so it suited me perfectly as it definitely didn't feel like a budget hotel. Detta är ett nytt hotell i Nairobi. Men det ligger långt utanför centrum av Nairobi. Området är inte trevligt utanför hotellet. Underbara sängar och rummen är bra men små. Rent och snyggt. Personalen är mycket trevliga och hjälpsamma. Alkohol finns inte på hotellet och är förbjuden. Det är endast via taxi man kan komma till centrum av staden. Odottelin 10 yota safarin alkamista tassa hotellissa ja viihdyin! Mikali ei kavahda liejuisia katuja, pohjattomia latakoita, seka aaretonta somalikoyhyytta ja satoja khat-kauppiaita hotellin aidan takana, voin suositella tata hotellia. Mikali et kanna nakyvilla mitaan arvokasta, voit liikuskella vapaasti ymparistossa ja matkustella vaikka matatulla […] keskustaan. Sen lisaksi taksilla paasee helposti minne haluaa. Silikonikorvatulppia suosittelen yoksi, koska kadulta kuuluu metelia. Pakokaasunkarya saattaa myos tulla sisaan. Henkilokunta on mielestani huippuluokkaa kaikin tavoin. Das Gute zuerst: für einen im Vergleich sehr günstigen Preis wohnt man recht komfortabel, das Personal ist sehr freundlich und bemüht, auch wenn einige Kleinigkeiten offenbar das Organisationsvermögen übersteigen: Austausch der Handtücher, fehlende Glühbirnen, der Zimmersafe ist "out of order". Absolut Klasse: das Hotelrestaurant - wirklich sehr gut! […] Englsh Breakfast wesentlich besser als in England selbst (wen wundert es?) Auf der anderen Seite befindet man sich im Stadtteil "Eastleigh", eines der Slumviertel von Nairobi, abends absolut abzuraten! Die Anfahrt und die Abfahrt muß entweder mit Taxi oder Matatu erfolgen. Ein erheblicher Geräuschpegel und die nicht vorhandene Klimaamlage tragen auch nicht gerade zum Wohlbefinden bei. Wenn man aber nur zum Übernachten absteigt und tagsüber anderswo unterwegs ist, bietet dieses Hotel eine absolut realistische Alternative, besonders, wenn man - wie der Rezensent - ein bißchen aufs Geldbörserl schauen muß.
