I was very displeased with my room. It was small, cheap looking and had a sign in the kitchen area that said $12 charge for unwashed dishes. I don't think guests should be expected to wash dishes in a hotel. There was no DVD player like the website said. The window next to the bed was at a landing where people would convene and be able to see right […] into the room. No privacy. The other rooms looked much nicer than mine. I was so unhappy that I left a day early. When I checked out early, the woman behind the counter was completely unconcerned. She had two children behind the counter that she was more concerned with. I was expecting more than (cereal, fruit and doughnuts for breakfast) but maybe that's just me. Our unit had 2 rms, sofa bed and a mini kitchen which was nice. Awesome pool! Nice room and friendly staff. The location is walking distance to town, Marginal Way walk is about a mile away and the ocean is right behind the resort! There were just a couple strange things I couldn't explain. When opening the soap, it was already a little damp. The counter was dry, so what happened? The towels in the bathroom were also just damp enough to notice. The bathroom was tiny. Barely enough room to take a step. Absolutely no WiFi, despite the claim. The Colonial Resort was disappointing at best. While the staff seemed pleasant and the linens appeared clean, the overall upkeep was poor. The rooms had a musty odor and the furnishings were poorly maintained, making it feel "dirty." It desperately needs updating. Additionally, the amenities fell way below standards. I booked this hotel for my mom and I last minute and she has some mobility issues, which I asked to have a room on the ground floor because of that. They accommodated us with the best possible room, on the first floor and less than 6 feet away from the pool and 10 feet away from the breakfast room. The location is fantastic, it is 15 minutes away from […] the Maine diner which is superb eats and it is literally 5 minutes away from parking for Footbridge beach.
