"Nice but we probably wouldn't return.............."
I requested a quiet room w/ a king size bed on the top floor. We were granted every request except for a quiet room. Our room was next to the construction of a new Riu hotel and we were woken up to the sounds of that construction every morning around 7 AM. While the food looked really yummy, nothing tasted great, which is pretty typical of AI resorts. […] The drinks were not fantastic. There was a martini bar one night.....trust me, don't waste the calories. The wine was not very good either. Stick with simple drinks like vodka/lemonade and you won't be disappointed. On the positive side, the staff was very nice. There was a show every evening, which was very entertaining. The performers really put their hearts into providing the guests with a fantastic performance. Don't miss the Michael Jackson show.....it was really fantastic. The hotel was very clean and the grounds were extremely well kept. If you want to get a chair by the pool, I recommend you go out and stake a claim around 6AM every morning. Many guests would do this. Chairs that had been claimed had a hotel towel draped across two chairs at a time, and would often go unused for most of the morning. I'm firm believer in 1st come/1st serve, but only if you're present.....non-distinct hotel towels do not apply! Overall, the hotel was nice, but we probably wouldn't return. Przeczytaj więcej
The only thing I dont like is the Sport Bar because is same room for the minor, I dont know why they put together Sport Bar with children
"Great place to stay and relax"
The Riu Guanacaste is a great all-inclusive hotel. We stayed for 8 days at the end of February and found the crowd to be mostly aged 30 and up, which was perfect for my husband and I. There were a few families with children there, but if you want to steer clear there is plenty of space around the pool for everyone. PROS: The rooms, lobby, grounds, […] and pool are all very clean and constantly maintained. The staff at this hotel is very friendly. They work very hard and have very long shifts, but they always have a smile for you. They will also help you with your Spanish if you ask, and they will remember you and continue your Spanish lesson the next time they see you. I can't say enough good things about all of the staff at this hotel. The pool is very large and even though the hotel was sold out during our stay, there was always an open lounge chair. However, if you want one in the shade, you must get out to the pool when it opens (or before). Since I burn easily, this was a bit frustrating, and we had to get creative and move chairs around to hide under trees, etc. The food at all of the restaurants was good. We found breakfast to be a bit repetitive, but was always good. We ate at all three specialty restaurants for dinner and they are pretty much equal, with none having any standout qualities to make them memorable. Try them all, but if you can't reservations, the buffet is really pretty good. Each evening they make a feature dish that is prepared right in front of you. Sunday evening they prepared a slice of beef to your preference right in front of you and I think that was the best feature. Another night they made fresh sushi, one night shrimp, etc. There are plenty of options at the buffet, but it does seem to be strangely organized. Make sure to look for the Costa Rican food area and try a few local dishes. The fruit is very fresh at every meal and always a great option. CONS: The pillows are so flat, they are almost pointless. Overall a great resort. Food is ok nothing special. Make sure to ask for top shelf liquor in ur drinks. Its the largest resort in costa rica so not very romantic. They need a bar on the beach and better entertainment at night. After 9:30 there is only 1 open and no food available.

We have been to more than 40 hotels and all inclusives in Costa Rica during the past 15 years. The RIU is probably one of the best there is. Impressed with the service, the rooms, the entire hotel is beautiful. The dining areas have table cloths on all tables and real wooden chairs with built in cushions, not the plastic junk like most places have. […] Definitely will return, but will take some candles or bathroom spray as they don't have exhaust fans in the bathrooms. Also, they have wireless internet, but you need to be in the location of the main lobby to get a good signal. Cell phones are worthless as the signals are intentionally blocked (I was told). "Riu Costa Rica - Hidden paradise"
+++ + All inclusive and the food was excellent. Fresh and delicious. + Beautiful surroudings + Large pool, did not feel crowded + Kayaks, snorkeling gear and paddle boats free at charge ----- - Entertainment show each night until 11pm -> not ideal for families with small children, because of all the noise. - Shops on hotel grounds expensive, since no […] competition (do not forget sunscreen or you'll pay arm and leg for it). - Pool towel cards system was annoying. "nice place"
We thought this was a very nice place and competetive price, especially cause drinks and sports like windsurf and diving not normally in the all inclusive price are included. So it was great. But it is a very big hotel, and later in week we stayed at some smaller places, very romantic and 1/2 the price that were also very nice and even better deals. "Wonderful Experience"
What a incredible experience, service was beyond our expectations, theme nights and drinks where exceptional, staff are like family and always greet you with a smile and OLA.. I requested a extra pillow on my way to my room and by the time I got up to the 4th floor the staff was delivering it. Entertainment was hysterical.. At the pool, in the bar, […] in the audience dancing with guests to the shows and ice breakers.. Laughed continuously.. Even Johana playing BINGO in the afternoon was entertaining.. people sitting at the bar joined in.. GREAT TIME!! Always a server waiting to get you a drink and they remembered what you liked.. They kept the mini bar in your room stocked..LOVED EVERY MINUTE.. ( the mattress was a little hard) The tours in the lobby fantastic and very reasonably priced .. I'm go again tomorrow if I could.. "Amazing Stay"
Amazing Stay: Room and maid service were great. The grounds were very well kept and extremely clean. The hotel's location is very remote and the road leading to/from it is very rugged (don't attempt to rent a car and drive). The beach is good and clean. The vendors on the beach were not too aggressive - actually friendly and helpful (we booked horseback […] riding & message via Marvin). No time share sells pitches all week. The food was decent and a good variety; everything was always well stocked - the Japanese and Italian restaurants were great. The in room bar & water were well stocked. The staff does not roam about looking to serve the drinks - but a kind spanish spoken word or a tip usually gets their attention. The front desk personnel were friendly, accommodating, and helpful (they even trimmed a tree that was blocking our balcony). Free wifi in the lobby. There is construction of a new building that just started on one side of the hotel that may not be in the listing. As a professional traveler I know it's hard to be an all inclusive and meet everyones needs; however, comparatively, it is a better hotel for the value. "Poorly managed and faux Vegas"
There were so many problems with the management and service at this hotel that it is truly hard to find the starting point. It is truly faux Vegas in style, but without the service. It can be nearly impossible to get any assistance from the hotel on airport transfers. Phones aren't answered. Messages not delivered. Rooms not cleaned daily. Front desk […] completely confused. Assignments to the wrong room. Loud pool music interfering with long-planned beach wedding. Loud music outside nightclub interfering with long-planned wedding reception held next door outside. "Food at Riu Guanacaste is horrible"
Our room was amazing (King Suite), the pool was nice, the staff was pleasant but the food was absolutely horrible!!! I would never recommend visiting the Riu in Guanacaste. Everything was overcooked and bland with very limited choices. They force you to get make a reservation for the restaurants which we couldn't even finish because it was so horrible. […] I'm not sure if this was due to the management or if all Riu hotels are this bad. I would be hesitant to book any other vacation with another part of the Riu chain just because this experience was so absolutely horrible.... Przeczytaj więcej
"Warning it is not what you'd expect!"
i would've liked this hotel to be more accurate in what you "get." It is inclusive however here's the catch-4 restaurants on site. you don't get to choose where you want to eat, they decide for you. And you only get to eat at a restaurant if you get up super early and go down in person to the "customer service" desk day of. They will not book in advance. […] The sizes of the restaurant would be 250+ seating, however they only take a small number I believe it was only 80 ple at 2 dining times 6:30 and 8:30. So they basically push everyone to the cafeteria where you eat cafeteria food. All of the alcohol is watered down at all their bars and so if you're looking to get a buzz on, you're better off going to the store and picking up something there. Only a 20 minute BUMPY van ride costing 40$. The grounds are decent looking, but there is seriously nothing around. Not in that romantic or peaceful "nothing around" sort of way, there is simply nothing to do. The beach is not well maintained and while the temp of the water is nice, its quickly forgotten by the people trying to sell you horse trips and boat rental trips. We go to Costa Rica every year and we will not be returning to this place. The people who work there look extremely unhappy and are not into helping out. Except for the maid staff they were the nicest ones at the place. The entertainment offered leaves much to be desired, all in all it has all the luster of poorly kept cruise ship that is about to go out of service. Przeczytaj więcej

"Alimentacion Igual a todos"
el hotel presenta una buena edificacion con habitaciones muy comodas y buenas piscinas, sin embargo en relacion con la alimentacion me parecio que es igual a todos los hoteles que he vistado todo incluido, nada nuevo de hecho para estar en costa rica no tienen ni cacique el guaron nacional aun cuando yo no tomo eso , el wiski es del mas barato en general […] en cuanto a estos servicios de alimentacion y bebidas me parecio corriente igual a todos Przeczytaj więcej

positifs: hotel récent, bien entretenu (extérieur et intérieur),chambre fonctionnelle et spacieuse, tout inclus,restauration variée, qualitative et quantitative, spectacle du soir de qualité mégatifs: hotel trop grand 701 chambres, loin de tout , pas de taxi, excursions hors de prix, malgré le nombre trés important reserver un transat tôt le matin. […] Les problémes viennent des clients (irrespectueux, bruyants,excessifs) et non de l'hôtel. conclusion : à éviter si vous voulez de la tranquilité et visiter le Costa Rica à recommander si vous voulez de l'animation toute la journée et pas bouger du complexe. "Hotel Riu Guanacaste"
Nuestra estadía fue realmente bonita es un lugar de fácil acceso , hermoso desde la entrada hasta los mas pequeños rincones todo esta muy bien cuidado y limpio de verdad que se puede descansar , comer bien y se disfruta de las piscinas y playa con toda confianza ; sus empleados y el entretenimiento son muy pero muy buenos nos gusto muchiso.

La pasamos increíble, el personal super atento y la comida ríquisima! Totalmente recomendado! :) El único cambio que recomendaría a la administración del hotel serían planes de reciclaje para vistantes y personal, principalmente en el área de snacks donde el consumo de envases plásticos es excesivo...
"Satisfacción a medias"
En general, el hotel en sí deja una buena impresión, por limpieza y servico. La única desventaja, si puede considerarse así, fue encontrarnos con un turismo masivo (por ejemplo, muchísimas excursiones de autobuses cargados de pasajeros). Super Hotel, todo es nuevo, inmenso, buen servicio, espectaculos de las noches interesantes. Me decepciono un poco la comida... Eso si no lleven niños de baja edad, el club de niños tiene una piscina del tamaño de una bañera y casi nada mas. El 90% de los turistas son nortes-americanos.

"bueno pero no un cino estrellas"
en termino general es un buen hotel...no para un 5 estrellas...se notaba muy descuidado le falta pintura, nohay señal de celular y solicitar una llamada a recepcion es frustrante, el entretemiento es pesimo...a las 10 30 de la noche hay payasos cantando con los niños y me parece bien pero no a esa hora y no hay entretenimiento mas enfocado en los adultos....el […] area de piscinas muy bien...el area de bares bien solo q yo llame previamente y pregunte q licores tenian en la habitacion y me dijeron q whisky J & B y vodka Smirnoff y lo q encontramos fue licores genericos q no me atrevi a probar...por el olor a alcohol sin destilar q tenian...las comidas aceptables pero decepcionada de reservar en el steak house, por q en vez de un top sirloin me dieron un bisteck de cuarta....estaba mejor la carne q daban en el buffet normal...Para conocer esta bien...para volver no... L'hôtel est tout neuf . La formule all inclusive est parfaite. Le spectacle donné tous les soir est excellent, avec une équipe d'animation performante. L'hôtel est situé au bord d'une très belle plage. Il est le seul. pas d'autre hôtel ni habitation .
