"Good value and good location"
The hotel facilities and location met our expectations. Hotel staff very friendly and service conscious. Restaurant decor and location uninspiring. Location of the ski valet not in the best place.

The room was unbelievably hot, no matter how many times I adjusted the thermostat I could not get it to work. My husband tried several times as well. Kind of ruined the entire stay. The hotel was nice, I know it was off season so it was a bit of a ghost town. The check in was slightly unpleasant and the staff didn't seem too thrilled about our arrival. Hotel Madeline is by far the most amazing place my husband and I have ever stayed at!!! It is absolutely gorgeous inside and the views are incredible!!! We will be coming back soon!!!
"Hot water, please"
Hotel is beautiful and the rooms are primo. The only problem was - hot water. It was very slow coming and inconsistent once it arrived, Seems pretty strange for such a new, upscale property. Room temperature was difficult to control (again - strange for newness) but it could have been because were were facing the central plaza and the air circulation […] from the outside was impacted by nearby buildings. Complimentary coffee is only open till 7:30am. Really!! The rooms are lacking basic accoutrements. The staff is friendly. The rooms are quiet and the sheets are adequate.

I was looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend to spend with my wife in a beautiful Colorado mountain town and that's exactly what we got. While there are many festivals and activities in the town I avoided those. By booking through Hotels.com we were able to get a great rate and the Hotel Madeline is fabulous. I was even able to add an extra day to our […] stay at the same rate. We were greeted by friendly people for everything we wanted or needed. I wondered sometimes if we were the only guests in the hotel but then I'd see one and they would say that they wondered the same. It felt as if we had a private elevator for it was right next to the room on the 5th floor and opened next to the 1st floor exit onto a large plaza outdoors...only steps from the gondola. The gondola is Telluride's public transportation system running free of charge from Mountain Village to the town of Telluride. Mountain Village is full of shops and restaurants and is the center of the action during ski season. It's very pedestrian-friendly and signs pointing the way to various attractions are clearly visible. The Hotel Madeline is situated on one side of a circular plaza which has a fountain in the center at ground level so that it doubles as a skating rink in the winter and roller rink in summer. Here we witnessed a disco party spilling over from the hotel bar. Had we not made other plans I think we might have fit in wearing our motorcycle garb and passing ourselves off as the (Mountain) Village People. I could go on about the people we met, the town and our activities but some things should be discovered for oneself. ""Pure Relaxing Excellence""
WOW...What an amazing place for a much needed get-away! Room was beautiful, wonderful comfortable bed, and the bathroom amazing. Every employee offered any assistance every time you saw one...We never ate in the restaurant...always went into Telluride for dinner. Free gondola steps from the hotel took you right into the city. "Service is Bad"
We had a mixed experience at the Madeline. The hotel is understaffed pretty severely. You can't get ice yourself, and must call service. Of three occasions over the course of our 5 day stay, there were two occasions where ice showed up only after a second call, and then taking over an hour. The third time was a total no show, again after three calls. The […] hot tub was luke warm at its best over the course of our 5 day stay. We complained about this and we know that others did as well. We didn't use the restaurant or bar in part due to it being a ghost town and this was over the 4th of July stretch. Everywhere else on the mountain had significant business and in town everyone was slammed. The standard rooms are very nice but small. There is inadequate space to put luggage on stands which is hard to believe at a new ski area hotel. On top of that they nail you to park and there no longer are no charge options for parking except in town. This really is a add on to the room rate. It's 50/50 that we would go back to this property. "Great hotel - below average restaurant"
The Madeline Hotel is a 5 star property with gorgeous rooms with first class amenities. The bathrooms are huge and beautiful. The hotel staff is small town friendly and accomodating. 4 of us went for an overnight trip from Denver and enjoyed the 6 hour ride to Telluride. The huge negative was M's restaurant. The kids serving tried hard but were inexperienced […] at both dinner and breakfast. They were out of the wine that I first ordered which can happen anywhere. The menu was nouveau with small portions and what seemed too hard an attempt to be creative. I asked if many people ordered the "sweetbreads with waffles"? I stuck with a steak and ordered it medium rare. It came out raw. Same thing with my wife. The kitchen put it back on the grill and it came out raw again the second time. I didn't eat it. The server was very gracious and offered us free desert. All in all, it just was not a good dining experience. The 4 of us went back for breakfast thinking it would be difficult to screw up breakfast. Eggs over easy came out hard as rocks, coffee was cool and stale and we learned it was possible to make a bad breakfast. The bill for 4 at breakfast was $91. It's really too bad this hotel had such a poor restaurant. The property itself is 5 star and beautiful. The staff tries and it must be hard to staff a property in such a remote location. We were extremely happy to escape the early summer heat in Scottsdale and planned our trip to Telluride for their annual Wine and Food Festival. Despite our friends' recommendations to stay in the town of Telluride itself, we were lured on line to the obvious beauty of Telluride's Mountain Village . . . and then we found the amazing Summer rates and […] great accommodations at Hotel Madeline! This even included an option to bring along my little pooch, as this hotel is definitely dog-friendly. We were amazed at the comfort and the quality of this hotel, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was definitely above and beyond our expectations. We even attended a Wine Dinner there at the hotel during our stay, and the food, service and ambiance was superb. We booked this hotel last minute for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and I'm glad we did! I'm not a camper. The room was amazing. The bed was so comfortable I asked the front desk to send me the brand. It was steps from the gondola into town and was a wonderful retreat from the hectic festival. Outstanding room, staff, and amenities. The hotel is walking distance to the slopes. Personal assistants take care of as much or as little as you desire. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies at 4pm is a very nice touch. I look forward to returning!

"Almost 5 Star"
The goods: Great location in Mtn Village, easy access to the gondola and thus the town of Telluride. Workout facility was very nice, brand new equipment. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable. The complimentary beverages in the room was a nice convenience. Could be improved: The drains in the bathroom sinks were set too low […] and thus took a long time to drain. I solved this by unscrewing the drain covers until they were no longer attached but still appeared to be. The shower itself was quite nice and large but the pressure was not enough and came out in more of a stream than a shower. The room was clean but not dusted like I would have expected. We did not eat in any of the restaurants related to the Capella so I can't comment on their quality/value. I can however say that La Marmotte in Telluride was a bit pricey (just the wine) but terrific. Overall this was a very nice hotel and fairly priced for the summer. Capella was an awesome hotel in an awesome location in the mountains of Telluride. Mountain Village is very beautiful and the location at the base of the gondola station is very convenient. We didn't drive our car for the entire stay which was well worth the $30 per day parking fee. The city of Mountain Village or Telluride charges the hotel so the […] hotel passes it on to the clients. We loved the complimentary everything in the room including the snacks and water. This was a refreshing change from other high end hotels that nickle and dollar you for everything. The hotel was top notch. Very elegant rooms with the softest pillowtop bed. Stone-covered bathrooms and a nice long bathtub to soak in. Capella is in the Village and you catch a free gondolla into the town of Telluride. Gives you an incredible view of both valleys.
