If you're looking for a cheap and basic room in Glasgow, this is the place to go. Breakfast was quite good and the staff in the dining room was friendly. Pleased with everything about our 1 night stay. Have read other comments about the place needing a lick of paint - maybe it does but then so does my house. If you're looking for somewhere central but quiet to stay, it was all good for a reasonable price.
Lovely staff; very clean and comfortable. I was a little concerned that the lid of the kettle would fall off whenever I poured water from it... okay for me, but definitely quite a safety hazard. I also heard from many others that their tv's were not working. But cheap place to stay, so worth it.

The T.V. remote did not work and they did nothing except say that was the only one thay hade ?.As I was watching a film someone changed the channel, so someone had one. This is 10/15 mins out of the city centre but there are plenty of Bars and eating houses in the next street. There is a Tesco just around the corner and closes at 10P.M.

"Great Location, cold welcome, cobwebs galore"
Fantastic Location in terms of the city centre, albeit in a rather shady looking street. Great antique shop directly across which was the highlight after checking out. The hotel had not been decorated/maintained in at least a decade. It was like the shining. Pay the extra £20 and don't make a cheapskate mistake like I did after seeing it being rated […] (unbelievably) 8 out of 10. For the extra £20, you could be in the Jury's, or Ramada bang in the city centre, and perhaps get lucky and get an even nicer hotel such as the Station Hotel. If you are broke, and you have to stay here, the bed was great, the room was semi-clean (clean where it mattered) I didn't make it for the breakfast as I wasn't gonna chance what the kitchen was like after seeing the room. "Served Its Purpose"
Like many reviewers before I would say this is a lads' guest house, if only that it's not somewhere you would want to take a lady to if you wanted to treat her. One of the better places to stay in it's price range, but don't build your hopes up if you like a big cooked breakfast. And pay the extra for en-suite.

McLays is a very old hotel. It clearly hasn't been redecorated since the early 90's. At least. The rugs are pretty worn out and the rooms could use some new wallpaper. Although it's not spotless, it's as reasonably clean as most people would expect. The mattresses are new and no signs of bedbugs. But all of this is pretty irrelevant because it's in […] a great location right in the very middle of Glasgow. The neighbourhood is safe and full of students. The only thing I regret is that the junk shop across the street never was open. Breakfast, which is included in the very low price, was excellent. "Einfache Zimmer mit tollem Frühstück"
Das Hotel liegt in einer ruhigen Strasse, ca 10-15 Minuten entfernt(zu Fuss) vom Zentrum. Es liegt gerade etwa in der Mitte zwischen Uni (im Westen) und Zentrum (im Osten), also ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Stadterkundungen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Das Zimmer ist wirklich nur mit dem nötigsten eingerichtet. Betten, zwei Stühle, Tischchen […] und Schrank. Die Möbel sahen schön älter aus, waren aber in Ordnung. Das Badezimmer schien jedoch moderner zu sein und vor allem sehr sauber. Dazu gab es jedentag frische Bade- und Handtücher. Es gab auch einen Fernseher im Zimmer, der war jedoch kaputt. Das beste am Guest House war das Frühstück. Man kann aussuchen von der ganzen Palette von englischem/schottischem Frühstück und es wird einem serviert. Dazu war das Personal immer sehr freundlich zu uns. Wifi gab es im Zimmer nicht, aber wenigstens im Esssaal. In anderen Bewertungen habe ich gelesen, dass die Wände sehr hellhörig und dünn seien und habe deswegen schon befürchtet, keine ruhige Nacht zu haben. Das war aber überhaupt nicht der Fall. "Fint men lidt slidt hotel midt i Glasgow centrum"
God placering i centrum ved Sauchiehall St. Gåafstand til butikker, restauranter, seværdigheder og offentlig transport. Lidt slidt hotel, trænger til renovering, men værelset ok - dog problemer med varmt vand på badeværelset.. God staff-service, gode internetmuligheder, rimelige parkeringsforhold og god morgenmad:-)

Es ist ein einfaches Hotel in relativer Nähe zum Stadtzentrum, ca 10 Min zu Fuß. In der Hotelbeschreibung ist dieser Satz in englisch zu finden: This hotel does not offer any accessibility features. Wenn es auf deutsch bedeutet, dass das Zimmer kein […] eigenes Bad mit Toilette hat trifft das zu, zumindest ist ein Waschbecken im Zimmer. Meinen Übernachtungspreis empfand ich zu hoch, das hat mich auch ein wenig geärgert. Ansonsten ist die Unterkunft sauber und man bekommt ein gutes schottisches Frühstück.
