"Close enough to airport and great adventures"
The hacienda which is a good name for it as I wouldn't consider it a resort, was overall a great experience. Do not expect high end rooms, bathrooms or food. The rooms were dated but the beds were comfortable and firm. I suggest you just get the buffet for lunch and dinner as the meat options (pork, fish, and chicken) were all tasty and authentic as […] well as the sides and dessert. The thing that really makes this place is the accessibility to all the adventure tours. We went canyoning one day where we rappelled and swung around a waterfall. Then we caught the free shuttle and went down to the hot springs. The next morning we got up early and did the zip lining tour which has 24 platforms, rock climbing, a tarzan swing, and some rappelling. We then did a 3 hour horseback ride to another secluded waterfall where we were the only ones there. I'm sure one or two nights here is plenty. The map they give you sucks so trying to hike to some waterfalls proved to be difficult. Another great characteristic of the hacienda is the working ranch. The horses, cows, and ox all just roam free at the end of the day which is cool to watch. We also saw some white faced monkeys, like Marcel on Friends playing in the jungle. Przeczytaj więcej
"Homemade tortillas and cheese"
This is a working ranch so breakfast boasted homemade tortillas and cheese which was wonderful. There is plenty to do and you can walk to a small waterfall and a few other sights from the hotel so you are not trapped without a car. They have a free shuttle to the national park and other sites. Loved our stay. Fantastic experience on the One-Day Adventure pass. Took advantage of having the 2 canyoning events photographed for us and are so glad we did. The staff was friendly and competent. The restaurant was also very good. We were there for 2 1/2 days and are glad for every minute of it. We especially loved diving and swimming at the waterfalls. We were there overnight. We had 2 teenagers with us that took advantage of the all day pass. They horsebacked to the river where they rafted then zip lined had lunch then were suppose to go to the hot springs. We found them at the pool when we found out they needed to have their own transportation to the springs. We drove them down and all was good. […] That was thru the adventure tours. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful. The rooms were very clean. The hot water was solar heated by the 4th person it was cold. You should have a car. "Can't beat that."
Our triple room was pretty - simple but attractive; hot water that worked! The pool wasn't large, but cold and pristine, and the location was wonderful to connect to hot springs, hikes through Rincon de la Vieja, oxen cart rides, canopy tours. Our triple suite had a real king-size bed (aaah!), a double, and a single, which was the most sleeping space […] our family saw on our whole trip in Costa Rica. TV and fridge were helpful with kids. Saturday evening there were patios and breezeways filled with people from all over the world, speaking every language, sharing their experiences. The restaurant itself was good - not amazing food, but seemingly well-prepared and tasty enough. They really focus on their buffet; service for menu items was a bit slow. We didn't like the food we were served in the bar down below between hours, though - greasy, unpleasant pizza, tacos with mayonnaise and ketchup on top!, unripe fruit that had been cut with a knife that had previously cut onions. Skip it, have a beer (from their minimal selection) and wait until dinner. But the main reason this hotel gets a hugely positive rating from me is because of the quick way in which they responded to a dental emergency that we had on a Saturday evening. Our child had a brace that was holding in a front tooth that was knocked out earlier in our trip; the brace broke while we were having dinner, and we had to find a dentist to fix it. While that night we did not, since weekend emergency dental care just doesn't seem to exist in Liberia, the driver that was arranged quickly by the hotel, and the equivalent of a nurse practitioner who met us on the road to Liberia to watch over him, went far above and beyond the call of duty trying to find us one in the city, literally knocking on doors in the middle of the night and making continuous phone calls to determine if there was someone, anyone who could treat him. "Hiking"
Like most hotels in Costa Rica the hotel really only wants to push it's tours. We like hiking and they were not very helpful. In fact they were very discouraging saying you must have a guide, it's too difficult etc. So we just set out on our own and tbh it is easy country to hike, so don't let them put you off. Unfortunately the maps they provide are […] not very helpful, so you are on your own. Sort if makes it exciting. We did hike to the hotel owned hot spring only to be told we couldn't go in unless we were on an organized tour!!!!!!! Very well thought through Farm-hotel with horse riding, ox cart rides, zip lining, forest trails, tubing on white water, hiking up the mountain to the volcano, going to the spa... Plenty to do, or laze by the pool. All terrific, with beautiful landscaping and wonderful views. Only downside, as a captive audience, the buffet dinner was good but somewhat […] pricey, and the bar menu options were very limited. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and our two teenage boys were never bored, even in one of the rooms without tv (they did use the free wi fi, though). Accommodation is simple but sufficient. "Nahe am Nationalpark"
Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe des Nationalparks Rincon de la Vieja; ist aber nur über eine schlechte, steinige Straße erreichbar. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und wohlschmeckend. Vorsicht vor massenhaften Mücken- oder Flohbissen; selbst bei nur kurzem Aufenthalt außerhalb des Zimmers haben wir mehr als 40 Stiche / Bisse erhalten. Mooie gelijkvloerkamers verpreid in zeer mooie tuin. Groot privaatdomein met interessante bezienswaardigheden. Personeel zeer aangenaam en gedienstig.

Mooie ruime kamers met alle comfort, airco, sat. tv douche. Buffet ontbijt topklasse, met vriendelijk personeel, Minpunten: zeer harde bedden en vermijdt de kamers naast de paardenstallen (geur)

La Hacienda tiene una extraordinaria relacion calidad-precio. Te permite hacer varias excursiones y actividades gratuitas como visitas a cataratas o a aguas termales. El unico pero que pondria es que en cuanto anochece se acaba todo lo que puedes hacer, por lo que recomiendo que la gente coja una habitacion con televisor. Por lo demas, perfecto. Se […] lo recomiendo a cualquiera, sobre todo si tiene coche. De lo contrario, debera caminar mucho o contratar las excursiones. RECOMENDADO 100% lo unico es el estado de la carretera por las lluvias pero ellos son muy especiales y te llevan a las termas, y catartas en sus autos especiales para el tipo de calle. fue una grata experiencia!!!
