A couple of miles south of the city centre, EUR takes its name from Esposizione Universale di Roma, built for an exhibition in 1942. The bombastic architecture was then intended to glorify Fascism, but now is home to shops, cinemas and clubs and exhibitions. Within the marble halls there are also three very good museums, including the fascinating Museum of Roman Civilization.

Pleasant hotel close to business meetings in EUR but convenient to Rome for after work. Staff were superb. Room a little small but overall a good value.

"Good hotel in Rome"
Good hotel in the convenient location, closed to subway and buses with reasonable price.
"Hotel Pulitzer Roma"
We had a great time at the hotel. The staff were very helpful as we tried to work with the airline to find our luggage. The subway is only a couple minute walk down the street. Very easy to get in and out of the central pat of the city.
"Pleasant experience"
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in the late summer of 2011 and found the experience to be pleasant. The hotel was clean and the staff were accommodating and friendly. The Metro station is close and takes only about ten minutes to get to the Coliseum. The only downside is that the neighborhood is a bit sketchy as compared to the center of the city. […] However, in the five days that we were there we didn't have any bad experiences as the Metro line is a short five-minute walk. Its more of a perceived negative, and if you can see past the hookers and dirt that you might find in any major US metropolis, then this place is perfectly acceptable. Przeczytaj więcej

Without a doubt Hotel Pulitzer is a great place to stay. You will appreciate friendly staff, great location(3 minutes walk to the metro station) and delicious breakfast. if you like contemporary design this hotel is your best choice. "Hotel Pulitzer Roma--close to sites"
This hotel is situated very close to the metro with a bus stop in front. Very easy to navigate to the city. Nice to be a bit further away from the city, but at times was a bit difficult due to the way the metro run around the city. Small room, but comfortable; bed was hard, but was an American standard King size. Had a balcony which was nice and cool […] at night. Small gym, but we put it use! Nice restaurant and bar. Free wifi, cable...Overall good for the price! Just to clarify to some other posts--hookers are not directly in front of hotel--they are down the street--this is common in Rome anyway as I've been there before. Przeczytaj więcej

"Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms, Good Value"
Overall, I recommend this hotel as a good value. While the location is good for those using local buses (one stop is right outside front door), it is 2-1/2 blocks to the Metro, which was a bit far for us to carry LOTS of luggage. However, business travelers and others without luggage issues will find it convenient to get to Termini Centrale, 7 stops […] away on the Metro. On the negative side for families, there are more hookers than cabs available on the street, and there are no food markets or restaurants nearby. A 7-oz Coke from mini-bar costs 3 Euros (!). There is a nice coffee shop with croissants and sandwiches open early, but closed Sundays, 1 block away, and a fruit stand about2 blocks away on the main Avenue. V the bathroom was very nice, but shower design was absurd. No way to shower or use the sink without flooding the nice bathroom. Getting a coffee maker and some instant coffee took all day, despite several assurances it was coming right away. The best attribute of the hotel was the polite front desk and other staff, despite the other issues noted above; they spoke English quite well, called cabs when asked, and were very quick with check-in and check-out. Balcony rooms are available for smokers, but no privacy between rooms. In sum, a very reasonable price for a clean room, with convenient access for day trips by Metro. Note Well: if you are taking a cruise from Civitavecchia, pack light & be prepared for lots of stairs at Civitavecchia train station!! Przeczytaj więcej
"Great hotel, lots of prostitutes."
The pros: So this hotel is wonderful and I'm assuming very new based on its condition compared to those in its surrounding area. It is SUPER easy to get to the train from this hotel. If you are arriving by rail don't bother with a cab. (We made this mistake and it's 45 Euros we could have easily saved! ) The man at the front desk (can't remember his […] name but he was from London) was incredibly helpful and gave us a personalized suggested path to site see our first day and wonderful suggestions for local food. He was the most helpful person of our entire trip. Our room was very comfortable and the hotel had a nice bar. The cons: During the day, the neighborhood seemed fine. However at night there are A LOT of hookers. By our third night my husband and I had a bet as to how many we would see in the 1.5 block walk home from the train. He won the bet with 4. It was Friday night, I'd assume some were already working. The girls didn't bother us - however, it doesn't make you feel as though you're in the best spot walking at night when you are clearly in the direct 'working' zone. Luckily it wasn't too far of a walk. & the hotel had a security guard or police man outside the door at night. This was definitely not the hotel the girls were working in - they just utilized the same block. - Also, while this hotel is super close to the train and is a relatively short ride into the city it is still sort of a drag to be located out of the way of things. When you are walking around such a big city it is nice to take a break in your room if you'd like to change or something mid-day. However, being that it was out of the way it made us more likely to just stay out and then come home a bit early. A bit of a drag on the night life part of our trip. Overall this hotel was great other - than the prostitutes hanging out all over the block. If I could find a similar deal more central in the city I would probably take it, but if not, I would stay here again. Przeczytaj więcej
"Modern hotel, but no restaurants around"
The location of the hotel is so so. It's close to the Metro, but there aren't any restaurants around. There's a small cafe down the street, but that's about it and you can't get dinner there. There's always a wait at the front desk and they aren't that friendly or helpful. The sink in our bathroom kept getting clogged and it smelled like sewer. They […] were able to fix the clog though so it wasn't tragic. We saw prostitutes while walking back from the Marconi station so the neighborhood isn't that great. The hotel is very stylish and clean, I was able to sleep comfortably. It's also close to the Metro... that's about it for the pros. Przeczytaj więcej
"Very nice for the price!"
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Pulitzer on our first trip to Rome in mid June. The hotel is located about two blocks South of the Metro, so we never had to use a cab in Rome= big savings. The room size was nice, and it had a full sized tub; but setup for shower was a bit strange. Very modern and nice, and felt very safe once inside the hotel's front […] door. The resturaunt and bar areas were nice, and never seemed crowded. Not sure how the hotel's surrounding area was (we were always away) but I would say it seemed okay during the day, but at night, as in Rome, we were aware. Overall, this was a very nice hotel for the price, and the staff and ammenties were great! The only downfall might be its' location regarding the major tourist sites, just because to some people, the metro can be a deterrent. Przeczytaj więcej
"convenience, male front desk staffs not as nice"
I booked 5 nights but made a mistake on reservation so when I checked in, I asked if I could change it . The staff said ok. However, when I went back to the hotel at 10pm for the last night after sightseeing, I could not get into the room. They said I was supposed to check out in the afternoon! They were fully booked that night so they only gave me […] 10 mins to pack. I ended up had to pay 140Eur to stay at the Sheraton close by. If they communicated with me better, I could have made arrangement before they were fully booked or I could have moved on to my next stop one day early. Other than that, the room was clean. There was nothing open close by at night. You can get a taxi but please be reminded that the taxi starts to run tthe meter once they got a call. They should be arrived in 4 mins. But the taxi I got took quite long to get to the hotel and was already 12 Eur when I got into the car. So beware of dishonest taxi driver. After, I learned that it should be around 5 or 6 or less. Przeczytaj więcej
"Hotel Pulitzer"
This hotel is pretty convenient being right next to the Marconi station on the B-line of the subway system. Be warned though that the A-line usually ends at 9 PM, the B-line stays open till 11:30 PM. The breakfast was THE BEST breakfast of all the hotels we stayed at during our 2 week honeymoon and we stayed at 4 different locations. This location […] is out of the city center so you aren't surrounded by tourist traps. There is a small sandwich/coffee shop between the hotel and the subway station that is rather good and cheap but they close early (7:30 PM, and not open on Sundays). Przeczytaj więcej

"so-so hotel in a great location"
pros: this hotel is in a great location within walking distance to many sights, restaurants and the train station. the decor is a little older, but the room suited us fine (it was perfectly clean). the breakfast was adequate. cons: service - one particular front desk guy scolded us for sleeping in, which was annoying (jet lag, hello!). they were doing […] construction on the front of the building, and we literally opened our curtains to a worker on the scaffolding one morning. we checked out on a monday - had we stayed during the week, the early morning noise would have been really frustrating. they also need some do-not-disturb door hangers. this hotel is older (definitely not a 4-star). if you are looking for a mid-priced hotel in a great location (and don't care about fancy rooms), this is a good option. "Hotel Pulitzer--2 Blocks to the Metro"
Courteous and helpful staff. Easy walk to the metro. Food in the visit bar was terribly overpriced and not very good. Floor in room was dusty but everything else was clean. Nice balcony to sit and have a light lunch or sip some wine.
"Hotel Pulitzer Roma in Rome, Italy"
Great hotel and totally worth the money. Be wary though and make sure you get a breakfast included. They tried to rip us off on the breakfast but it was sorted and I was very happy with the stay. The metro/subway is only 50 meters or so away and getting to the action was a breeze. All in all a great place to stay when in Rome.
"Pulitzer hotel - close to metro Marconi"
This hotel is about 15 minutes Metro ride away from the Central Termini station. Upon exiting the metro, it's only a short 5 minute walk to the hotel entrance. I think this area is where the local lives. We like how modern and comfortable the room is. The city taxes and breakfast weren't included in our rate when we booked but that's not a problem because […] we didn't really need to eat at the hotel consider how convenient it is to grab a quick lunch in Rome. "Hotel Pulitzer - lack of atmosphere"
This hotel is only a couple of min walk from Marconi Metro Station where you can take the B line and in 7 stops be at Termini Station, also there is a bus stop at doorstep where number 170 bus will take you straight to centre of Rome, so in terms of location great but area not very nice, I felt a little uneasy walking from Metro at night and also there […] were prostitutes outside looking for business!! And it would've been nice to be able to walk to nice bars and restaurants in the evening. Also a real lack of atmosphere in hotel generally, never anyone in bar and at breakfast maybe one or two people around, staff in these areas were also lacking in personality. In general if you want a hotel just to rest your head then it is perfect as even though it's 20 min from centre public transport is convenient, easy to use and cheap so therefore you get a clean modern hotel for much less than in city centre. However if you like more from a hotel and the surrounding area I wouldn't recommend it as I think I would've preferred to pay a bit more for atmosphere and other people!! Przeczytaj więcej

"Nice Hotel - Excellent value - Close to metro"
No matter where you stay in central Rome, you'll pay a huge premium for the ability to walk to all the sites. The Pulitzer is in the EUR district, a bit outside Central, in a quite area, very near the Marconi metro station. From Marconi its a 10 minute train ride to the Colossium. (costs 1 euro!) To the well traveled, the Pulitzer is an absolute jewel. […] 4-Star quality, clean, modern, comfortable rooms and an exceptional value price compared to central Rome. It's also fairly straight shot to get to from Int'l Airport. (cost approx 40-50 euro via taxi) I'll definately stay at Pulitzer next time. With the Pulitzer, your stay will be more comfortable than most places in Central Rome, and with the money you'll save, you can buy plenty of taxi rides in and around the centra sites if you get tired of walking... What a jewel. Przeczytaj więcej
"Love the hotel, close to transortation, in general"
I liked the hotel a lot, it is modern and rooms are great. It is very close to the metro ( ~ 1 block ), and it is like 2 stops away from the Colosseo. there are not a lot of options ( restaurants or small stores ) near by, although there is a carrefour 10 minutes away, other than that the hotel was great.

"Pulitzer Roma"
We visted the Pullitzer Roma August 2010. The hotel is located near Marconi station about a block 1/2 and a bus stop, in front of the hotel, about 20 mins from city center but worth it. Nowhere to eat around the hotel, but good brakfast n the morning. Safer and cleaner than the Termini area.
"Decent Room but Bad Location"
It was nice that this hotel was one block away from the Metro stop. However in reading other reviews I was misled about the location. It is quite south of the city center. The map the hotel gave us didn't even show where the hotel was located because it was off the map. The metro stops running at midnight so if you plan on staying out late you will […] have to take a cab right back to the hotel. This area felt very unsafe to me and there were working women of the night right out fron the hotel each night we were there. Try to find a hotel closer to the city. Free breakfast was nice addition though. Przeczytaj więcej
"Value for money for 4* at Rome"
We traveled with our infant daughter and chose this hotel because I already stayed there once on a business trip. On the plus side 1) Design of the rooms, lobby and everything else is fantastic. It is a new building hence you'll enjoy all modern features. 2) Location. Although it is not downtown, it is just 3 stops away from Circo Massimo and the metro […] station is 3 minutes walk. 3) Breakfast is excellent. There is not much variety but everything you'll need to saturate yourself before a long day. On the minus side 1) Rooms are quite small - we barely managed to squeeze ourselves into it. But this is a typically Roman feature - I recon you should book a suite here if you want some extra space. 2) Another small thing that irritated us was absence of entrance for strollers from the street - it is just a few steps, but you would expect a 4* hotel to have a small ramp for strollers or bags. But again entire Rome lacks such infrastructure. Although it is not very suitable for family stay, overall I do recommend this hotel for everyone. You won't find such quality in downtown. "Great hotel"
I stayed in this hotel while in Rome for my honeymoon and it was great. Two blocks away is a metro which leads to pretty much wherever you want to go in Rome. The staff spoke english and they were very nice. The breakfast was very good. This hotel is very modern and beautifully unique. I will definitely stay here again.
"Convenient and clean hotel, slightly iffy area"
My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a week in July. The hotel itself was very good for those travelling on a budget, and it is located not far from the Marconi metro station and subsequently Rome city centre. The room was clean and despite this summer's heatwave, the air conditioning was plenty effective and a welcome relief. The room was in […] adequate condition with moderate wear. However, one evening there were no hot running water left. The staff was for the most part very hospitable and friendly and spoke English very well. We also arrived an hour before official check-in time, but our room was available already. The only negative experience with the staff was that the bartender refused to help open a bottle of wine purchased elsewhere. I would not recommend it for families with children or if you are easilly offended. Especially if you have a room on the south side. After sundown the area's "ladies of the night" operate in front of the hotel and in the bushes or between cars right under the south side balconies. I would not park there for the same reason. That being said, we never felt unsafe outside even at night and the girls left us alone. Overall a good hotel not too far from the sights. Przeczytaj więcej
"Hotel Pulitzer in Rome - Chic and Best Internet"
This hotel is a very nice, medium size, modern hotel with nicely decorated, well sized rooms. 37" flat screen TV. Excellent, free and easy to use wireless internet in each room is something that is hard to find in Italy. After staying in 4 Italian hotels this was the only one with a decent, free connection. The only two drawbacks to this hotel are its […] location and expensive breakfast (there is a cheap close-by restaurant and small grocery store). "Our New Favorite Hotel!!!"
We loved Hotel Pulitzer! Our stay was only for 2 days, but we wished it were longer. Of interest for tech people: you're given an internet name & password valid for 7 days at a time per laptop/device that requires WiFi. My wife and I really enjoyed the buffet style breakfast, and beautifully furnished (modern) style rooms. They do not have a parking […] facility; but there are a few parking spots available on the street to the right of the entrance if you're facing the hotel. Do not be afraid of the distance from Rome center! The hotel is literally 5 mins walk from the Marconi (B) line station, 15-20 mins to Termini station. We drove to the Hotel Torre Rosso to pick up some family members who flew into Rome. After seeing their hotel and a few others; NOTHING compares to Hotel Pulitzer. Its not a very large hotel but it is a gem! Although its not really an ideal hotel for children as there's not much for them to do, and at night we saw a few prostitutes standing along the sidewalk a few meters from the hotel... So be careful... Otherwise a perfect experience! Przeczytaj więcej
I stayed here with my finacee. We were looking for somewhere on a budget at last minutes notice and came across this place. It is a very nice and comfortable 4 star hotel with modern furnishings, a gym, lovely breakfast and comfortable bar and seating area. At the price we were getting it, we were very pleased. They also spoke pretty good English […] so that was a bonus. The only downside about the hotel is that it is a little bit out of the center and in an area with no action going on. But, if you are like us, and prefer to use public transport than the metro is a 3 minute walk from the hotel and only takes about 10 mintues to Termini (central station where everything evolves around) from there. Taxis in Rome are a rip off and the metro is so easy and quick to use that this shouldn't stop you from booking here. If this hotel had been in the center it would have cost twice the amount. "Amazing breakfast. Great hotel for the money."
We stayed in a 5-star American hotel in Venice that cost 4x as much as this hotel, and breakfast (not included) cost an arm and a leg... and Hotel Pulitzer's FREE breakfast was still better. I really miss their breakfast!!! The location while not next to all of Rome's hotspots was in a prime spot right next to the Marconi station, which is along the […] B-line of the underground subway system. The B-line is just a couple stop from the Colosseum and St. Paul's Bascillica, and you switch at Termini Station for the A-line making all the other places like Vatican City, Spanish Steps, etc very easy to get to. Bottom line when staying in Rome you need to be next to a major Subway station, and this one is making life very easy and convenient. We stayed there for 1 week. The staff were wonderful, I can't say enough about how friendly and courteous they were. The hotel is a very cute modern boutique, we loved it. Rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable.
