Over all the hotel mett our personal criteria of being a stylish boutique hotel type, a plus for us. Value/ cost is also a good consideration. The room was quiet & beds comfortable. The drawbacks: 1) Costly valet service, we ended up taking advise & usiing a lot only 1/2 block away. 2) The room was on the small side. 3)The beds told as 2 queens were […] in reality only doubles. 3) No mini refrig. 4) Artificial creamer 5) Small maintance issues for our 1 night stay: running toilet tank, remote not functional, light bulb out (remote corrected right away). Was not satisfied with the staff. Inaproprate questions from the staff that took us to the room. The front desk staff was rude especially the young lady that checked us in and out. "Great Service, OK hotel"
From the moment we arrived hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. From vallet to front desk to restaurant bartender. We were very pleased. However, the rooms are not really as pictured. They are very small, almost like something you would expect in NYC (closet sized). Our particular room had a very strong sour smell in the bathroom. On the right […] side of the bed was a piece of red chewing gum smeared and smashed into the carpet. Also, i thought i might put a robe on but when i open the closet and looked at them, they were several long black curled hairs on them as if they had not been washed. Not impressed with the rooms at all. "Great location,but the walls were to thin."
We had a nice time in the city, but the room was really small and you could hear everything going on in the hallway and in the next room. Our lock must have been messed up because the door just clicking like it was being unlocked the whole time we were there. We did complain to the front desk in which they said they would get maintenance to look into […] it,but that never happened. At least not while we were there. I had a wonderful stay at the Ellis Hotel. I travel a lot for work and stay at a lot of botique hotels, but this one takes the cake. The service was absolutely outstanding- the staff are so friendly and went out of there way to help my stay more enjoyable. The hotel is a nice small hotel with a lot of classy perks (valet, etc). However, the staff was a bit displeasing to me. They attempted house keepeing and I stated to come back. "We don't plan to go back..."
The room was small, but clean. There was a great deal of noise from the hallway (primarily the ice machine). We asked to be moved and the staff declined, even though they had already advised that they were at only 50% occupancy. We asked for recommendations for restaurants, and the front desk couldn't tell us what was in the area with any specificity. […] The essentially just said, "Walk about two blocks north and you will see all the restaurants." When we mentioned specific restaurant names (we had done some research), they knew nothing about them. After dinner, we came back to the hotel bar, and the staff made us feel very unwelcome. It was 9:45 on Saturday night, and they advised that they were closing at 10:00, as if to say we shouldn't be asking for a glass of wine. In fact, they had already turned the lights out behind the bar and no one was actually working; we had to wait for someone to make their way over from the dinner tables. Another group (4 people) came in moments after we got our wine, and the server said, "I won't be able to help you for 10 or 15 minutes. I have to clear the tables." The hotel was definately not a 4 star hotel. I have had better rooms and service at 2 star hotels... The Ellis was not easy to find due to poor signage and point of entry. Front desk staff was neither personable or efficient. The employee that checked us in couldnt seem to find our reservation and tried to charge my card although the room was prepaid. […] After 5 minutes he finally figured it out. We were advised that the hotel restaruant and bar closed at 10 even on Saturday night. The room was small and the view was poor. Our furnace/air conditioner fan was loud and made horrible screeching noise. On the positive side Sam the valet was amazing. He took good care of us, brought our bags into the room because there was no Bell-Man on duty. Sam went out of his way to give us good information where to stay. In the morning Sam was back on duty smiling and polite the morning Bell-Man was also excellent. The bathroom was also nicely remodeled.. The hotel is close to some good dining choices.. "An extremely convenient location"
A convenient location, in the hotel district, with the train station entrance next door or accross the street, and train goes to the airport directly.
