In Queens’ western edge, Long Island City hosts a vibrant art scene, on display at PS1. Immigrants make up nearly half of the population of this New York borough. Jackson Heights is home to Little India. Jamaica has long welcomed African Americans and West Indians. Corona is the resting place of trumpeter Louis Armstrong, and Astoria has one of the largest Greek populations outside of Greece.

We booked this room months in advance, were given a garden level room with the cleaning cart cluttering the hallway. We were unalbe to change rooms. The service was less than adequate. We arrived to find dirty sheets on the bed and when clean sheets were requested, the maid refused to change them, pointing directly at the stains and saying it was not their fault, it was the laundromat's fault. She argued for 5 minutes before we had to call the hotel management -- she then changed the sheets with […] an attitude. There is also no luggage room in the hotel -- if you arrive early or have to remain in the city for a few hours after checkout, you are simply out of luck. Przeczytaj więcej

"A great value in New York"
Finding a good hotel in New York is hard. You will come across places without private bathrooms, dilapidated infrastructure or inaccessible facilities. Then again, you can find a good hotel, located 20 minutes away from Times Square, with everything you expect from a 20th century facility. The staff is attentive, the room has everything you need, the […] bathroom is clean. Even the complimentary breakfast is adequate. While it's not in the heart of Manhattan, it's only twenty or thirty minutes away, so you get all the convenience of a downtown location without the extra expense and crampedness. The only drawback is that they will not keep your lugagge after you check out, so you are forced to carry it around with you, which can be inconvenient if you plan on leaving town in the afternoon. To sum it up, I don't think you can find many hotels with these features at this price. Przeczytaj więcej

"Cheapest we could find, but NOT worth what we paid"
I'm never a fan of writing poor reviews, but this Days Inn has earned it. We had a room for 4 nights leading up to New Year's (28th-31st). I know rates are already high in NYC, and New Year's bumps it up even more, but I feel like we got ripped off for what we paid. When we walked into our non-smoking room (in the basement) we found a bag over the […] fire detector and the room was inundated with the smell of cigarettes. I went up to the desk to let them know and all they said was "Oh, sorry, we'll have it cleaned again." While at the desk I noticed that I wasn't able to log onto the wireless network, so I asked the guy for help. He had no idea how the wireless worked and couldn't help me at all. There were two different networks and the username and password we were given didn't work for either of them. So much for free internet access (not a big deal, but annoying when it's advertised and offered, we were given the info to get on, and it doesn't work and no one who works there knows anything). We left and went into the city for a while, but when we returned the room was still the same, stinking of cigarettes. Every day the cleaning crew did a nice enough job of tidying up the place, but the stench of cigarettes never left. Additionally, the mini-fridge made a terrifically annoying rattling/whining noise almost constantly. Luckily we were exhausted every night after full days of walking around the city and passed out without much fuss. The mornings were a different story. Two out of the four nights we were there we were woken up around 7 AM by the cleaning crew yelling profanity, arguing and carrying on right outside our door. VERY unprofessional and VERY inconsiderate. Also, the hallway outside our door was constantly FILLED with plastic bags full of towels and sheets that we had to actually walk over just to get down the hall. We saw a storage room completely empty down the hall where all this mess could have been kept, so that was a bit baffling and rather unimpre Przeczytaj więcej

My wife and I travel a lot. But this hotel was the worst hotel we ever seen in our life. Room service never change the towels or sheets. They only change their place to look as it has been changed. "Convenience, and distance to Manhattan great!"
My friend and I stayed one night in order to see a concert. We live in Connecticut and didn't want to drive home so late after the show so we decided to stay over. Hotel is easy to find. Upon arriving there are very limited parking spaces available. We were lucky to snag one. We just kept it parked our whole stay so we didn't have to lose the spot. […] I am not sure if there are parking garages or lots around and how much they would cost. Front desk staff were nice enough, but a litle hard to understand. Lobby are was a bit cluttered with boxes piled everywhere. The room smelled fresh when we walked in. Very neat/clean. Bathroom clean. Beds were nicely presented. The only negatives I really have are. (1) not enough parking (2) refridgerator smelled (3) One bulb out (4) Heating/cooling system broke (5) Remote control didn't work. The positives outweighed the negatives as far as (1) Convenient to where we needed to go. (2) Subway just across the street. (3) It was a comfortable place to lay your head for one night. If I had to go there again for just one or two nights, I would. If you are looking for luxury 4 star look elsewhere, but for something for a couple days I'd reccomend this hotel Przeczytaj więcej

"Disappoinoting"
Let's start by saying we arrived at the hotel and went to floor C...C, as it turns out stands for Cellar. Our rooms were in the basement. Surrounding our rooms were bags of dirty linens, garbage and the cleaning carts lined up in the hall. Right outside our basement room door was an ice maker that rattled all night and on the floor was covered in cookie […] crumbs. I can only imagine what kinds of infestations this feeds. In our room we found a rotten banana peel in the garbage which would indicate the pails hadn't been emptied and also the toilet paper rolls were unrolled and spilling onto the floor so I assume the bathroom received a very brief refreshing of the soaps and shampoo's on the counter. Let me add, we rented 2 rooms which were supposed to, at the very least, be next to each other (as stated to us by Hotels.com) since we had 4 children under 18 with us. They were several doors apart, again...in the basement. Now to talk about the noise. One room was right next to the elevator machine room so we got to listen to the elevator running all night which sounded like it was right in the room with you, every time someone uses the elevator, it’s as if you are trying to sleep in a machine shop. Then we all got the treat early in the morning of the cleaning crew lining up in the extremely narrow hallway to prep their carts for the day and of course have lengthy discussions and arguments. I would never stay here again and a word of advice, if you are putting your guests in the basement, you should ask them first if it's ok. One room had mold on the walls, with a son who has an allergy to mold this was not a healthy environment. I would have absolutely said no way to staying in the basement and never would have agreed to stay at this hotel. As a final treat for us, after our not so delightful stay in this establishment, we had to wait 20 minutes the following morning just for an attendant to arrive at the front desk so we could check out along with other disgruntled gues Przeczytaj więcej
"Days Inn, Long Island City"
I struggle to think of one positive or redeeming factor about this hotel. Firstly, if you must stay here then ensure you do not get a room in the basement (room number commencing with a "C"). These rooms are extremely loud and cramped and the noise from the hallway is terrible. We were initially in the basement and finally managed to move after one […] terrible night with barely any sleep. The management were at best dismissive and at worst utterly unhelpful to our complaints - clearly it must be a common point they have to deal with. Breakfast is barely adequate as are the rooms. They are clean but very cramped. The location is ok being just a couple of stops on the subway to Midtown but in hindsight I would have rather paid more and not stayed here. Would struggle to recommend this hotel to anyone. Przeczytaj więcej
"Stay somewhere else!"
IMy family had stayed at this property twice before. It is in a great location a no frills hotel. However this time it was obvious it is under new management. My room was supposed to be for 1 king bed however they smashed 2 queen beds in there and that was our room. Needless to say it was more cramped than usual. It reeked of cigarettes it was supposed […] to be a non smoking room and cheap middle eastern body spray. My son found an empty condom box besides the night stand on the floor. In the past we were able to leave our luggage there on our last day we always depart on a 7:00 pm flight this time new management said no. That was one of the reason we went back to this hotel for the storage of our luggage. My husband begged the guy to store the luggage and the man said ok for 50.00. I googled on the internet found a place called cubby in manhattan and they stored our bags for 8.00 a bag. The property went down hill and it was never the Ritz. I stayed at the hotel for a night, and was enough for me to decide to never come back. The hotel it's under renovations, and the noise starts at 8am. "Worst vacation ever !!!!"
Let me first say that I have never bothered to write a review for anything in my life, that being said, I have to share the horrible experience I had staying here. I won't complain about the minor staff though i could, smallish room, not the cleanest hotel i've staid in. What i will tell u all about is that about 3 days before we had to check out the […] hotel the started doing construction work in the hotel jackhammers, pneumatic drills, think about the noisiest construction work u can imagine then you would be right there. Well now you might think that is not so bad, you go up to your room and it all fades away but NO the were doing the work on the same floor not 50 feet from our door and going on until late (23:30) at night , woke me once around 2 am with some heavy hammering. In short it was a nightmare, after complaining repeatedly the stuff was unhelpful to say the least, as another reviewer said "they just want your money". I just hope that I steer a few of you away from this horrible place. Przeczytaj więcej

"THE New York Experience"
The people who have reviewed this hotel must have near impossible standards. I'm a middle class family living in a middle class neighborhood in the SE USA. We go to Disney once a year for a weekend or once every other year for a week. I make under $100,000/year. I like nice things when I can afford them and am willing to make concessions when I can't. […] After reading the reviews for this hotel, I was extremely nervous. My wife had a very minor medical procedure in CT and we decided to all go (me, wife, kid 17, kid 15) for support and then hit NYC as a vacation. After the procedure we were told that my wife needed to stay in bed for the entire next day. Then we could walk around and/or do whatever. Knowing we were going to be sitting in the hotel room for a full day made me very skeptical from the reviews I read; poor staff, noisy, dirty, old, no food around. This was not my experience at all! The staff was very courtious and answered all our questions about the subway and things around the hotel. The room was small, but still had room for 2 beds, a nice fridge, tv, wardrobe, and desk with chair. The bathroom had a marble tiled floor and marble countertops. My only complaint here was that the grip in the tub was a bit old and not as effective as it should have been. This made it very slippery but I purchased a bath mat and all was well. Because we had to stay the next full day in our room, we didn't need the cleaning service that day. So when they knocked on our door, all we asked for was clean towels. There was a bit of a language barrier and she ended up cleaning our bathroom and giving us clean towels and washcloths which was unexpected but very nice. For lunch we ate at a small restaurant across the street. I wouldn't say it was a nice establishment, but the food was well priced and they have a large variety to choose from. For dessert we walked about 5 blocks to a McDonald's. For dinner we grabbed some cold sandwiches from 7-11 directly behind the hotel. It was qu Przeczytaj więcej

This hotel has a very convenient location since it's right next to the 7 subway line that takes you right to midtown Manhattan. So you can explore the city for less. The breakfast was adequate in terms of the breads like bagels, danish pastries and croissants. Same goes for the cereal and coffee. Wish there was more variety in terms of fruit - all I […] noticed were bananas. My only complaint is regarding the eggs. They're supposed to be fried but every time we had breakfast the eggs were always frozen solid and had to be microwaved. Our room was comfortable enough, especially the bed. I do agree with other reviewers though that the rooms tend to be somewhat cramped. If more than 2 people occupy the room it can get tricky moving around and putting things away. The toilet/bath was the worst part of our room. Our toilet would not flush properly and at times seemed to clog up. The shower was very hard to use in that the pull stop to change from faucet to shower head was impossible to pull out. We probably needed a pair of pliers or wrench to pull it out. We ended up using an ice bucket to gather water. Made me envy our next door neighbors who I heard taking showers. We didn't complain anymore about these since we were only staying 3 mights and didn't want to deal with the staff. If we were staying longer, like a week, then I would've made a complaint. I am very satisfied with how the cleaning staff left our rooms each day, clean sheets, new pillow cases, neatly made bed, new towels, and they even cleaned our disgusting toilet. Kudos especially for that last part. All in all I have to say I was pretty satisfied with our stay. I would recommend this hotel for those who are on a budget and want to see what NYC has to offer. "THE WORST HOTEL IN NYC"
Other than the fact it close to the city and was inexpensive, I wasn't sure if my trip was confirmed and I had placed the reservation only to be told that I would not be refunded if I cancelled 24hrs ahead of time. The room had a comfortable kingsize bed, however we had to climb over the bed to get open the window and we both stubbed out toes on the […] bed. I have no clue how they got the kingsize bed in that room!! Front desk attendants were less that hospitable and were obviously there just to collect a paycheck! RUDE and UNATTENTIVE and could care less about their guests are the immediate thoughts that come to mind. It was noisy in the morning because of the traffic right outside our window. While we were checking out, another guest was furious because his flight wasn't until the evening and needed to have his bags held which they DO NOT DO. Poor guy had to lug all his luggage with him into the city on the subway all day because they don't have a baggage check room!! If I weren't soo happy with my friend being with me! "Loudest Hotel Room I've Ever Tried to Sleep In."
We chose this hotel for it's convenient location and the price. It's right off of the 7 train line and is very convenient to Midtown Manhattan via the subway. We were given a room on the first floor, right off the main breakfast area (all the rooms are very close together.) The lobby was tiled, rather than carpeted, so every little noise echoed and […] reverberated. When people came back to the hotel (at all hours of the night) their voices and footsteps could be heard clearly and loudly in our room - unless of course the sounds of the traffic or subway overpowered them. One expects that in NYC you are not going to have a room that is silent (or even sort of quiet) but the location of the hotel made it extra loud. The subway line is above ground and runs about 30 feet from the hotel. The hotel is also situated where two very large thoroughfares meet and there was plenty of traffic noise and train rumbling to keep one up all night. Bottom line - if you are a light sleeper, go somewhere else. If you sleep through air raids you should be fine here. Breakfast was also weak and the space offered for breakfast was tiny. "Don't say here."
While the hotel is convenient for New York's subway line, there's not much else in terms of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. The room was extremely cramped, with the bed taking up most of the space and the chair for the desk literally squeezed in between it and the wall. The room had a small refrigerator but it was impossible to plug it in […] and so was of no use whatsoever. Lastly, when asking the desk to call a cab, they set a person up with a non-metered mini van instead which, before I had noticed it, charged me twice as much as one should have paid. "Days Inn LIC - our 4th stay"
Wife, two year old and myself have stayed here four times now. People are generally nice. Hotel has always been in good condition. Hotel is 5-10 minute walk from subway stops, easy to Manhattan. This time our room was not like the previous times. Towel rack was missing, some staining on walls, condom & tampon wrappers found in room. The rooms are small, […] but usually very clean and well maintained. I think this was an anomaly. Parking is limited and tight. Despite the room this time we will stay here again and just be more vocal if something is out of order. Przeczytaj więcej

"Ok place for the price"
The air conditioning did not work properly, we either froze or melted. The room was inadequately cleaned one day, but superbly cleaned the next. Didn't spend much time there, and never participated in the breakfast, so can't comment on that.
"Not bad for the money"
The room was clean and the ac worked great. Close to the train. Not a bad place to stay for the $$.
"SMALL SMALL SMALL"
The hotel was cheap/inexpensive. The room was so small it bordered on uncomfortable. There was no room to walk around. The bathroom door slammed shut automatically. There was a king bed and not much room to walk around it. The breakfast was good and fresh. It was very conveniently located to the subway but there was NOTHING to eat around the area. ""Hotel staff very unfriendly and misleading""
The hotel is ok, nothing great about it but the worst problem is really the hotel staff- they are very unfriendly and they do not provide any right, clear information. Do not count on the information they provide you. It could be a lie! This was my very first time to New York and I had no idea about how long it might take to travel from the hotel to […] Newark airport to catch my return flight to Europe. The hotel staff at the reception didn't really seem interested in helping me out. He casually told me that it takes an hour. He also said that if I called/booked a taxi from the hotel it will be expensive but it will be a lot faster compared to the normal yellow cabs. What a LIAR!! It took me more than 2 hours to be at the airport as it was 6 p.m. (rush hour) plus the taxi guy charged me 80 dollars for the ride. I was going to miss my flight. Thanks to my lucky stars the flight was delayed by 2-3 hours! Przeczytaj więcej

Overall, an okay hotel. Don't count on parking as there are only about 10-15 spots available and at many times during my visit all spots were full. The room itself had a comfortable King Bed and the furnishings were relatively new and clean. The bathroom was re-modeled and clean. The hotel was very close to the subway (7 train) - about one block away - that takes you into Manhattan within about 10-15 minutes. The negative aspects were: the continental breakfast is only served until 9:30 AM even […] on the weekend, which I thought was absurd;there are no decent restaurants for breakfast within walking distance. I asked the clerk at the front desk and he recommended the 7-11 next door; I thought that was pretty funny. My departing flight was about six hours after check out so I asked to store my bags at the hotel, but was told there were no facilities. Soon after expressing my displeasure with the hotel, the clerk offered to store my bag at my own risk in the Fitness Room. I took the risk since I had no valuables in the bags and was pleased to find my bags still intact, untouched upon my return several hours later. "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly"
This hotel was EXTREMELY convenient for someone visiting Manhattan without paying the price of a Manhattan hotel. The subway station is less than 100 yards from the hotel front door. The subway (7 Train) takes you all the way into Manhattan, with stops at Grand Central and Time Square. The neighborhood is a dump. Fortunately, we only needed to walk […] from the hotel to the subway station. This hotel was poorly maintained. Our toilet seat was broken. The shower head was spitting water in all directions. The front desk did us a huge New York favor! I said this, because, as everything else in New York, no one will help a stranger. We arrived at the hotel at 10 am, assuming we'd be able to leave our luggage with the front desk and begin our visit of NYC. The man at the front desk told us that the hotel did not offer this service. Check-In time was 3 pm, which meant we had to lug our stuff with us for five more hours. We sat in the lobby of the hotel to figure out what to do. Half hour later, the same man at the front desk told us he could check us in early. It was a "yuge" favor from a New Yorker! I highly recommend this hotel for those who want to visit Manhattan, but do not want to pay too much for a hotel room. Przeczytaj więcej
