Hotel Monterey w Kioto jest położony przy ruchliwej ul. Karasuma. Teoretycznie to wada, ale treba przyznać zarządzającym, że okna są szczelne, a klimatyzacja i wentylacja pomieszczeń - znakomita. Kolejnym problemem wydaje się położenie na tym odcinku ul. Karasuma, gdzie nie ma żadnej komunikacji autobusowej, ale i to okazuje się nie aż tak wielkim utrudnieniem, […] bo O kilka kroków jest stacja metra, które zabierze nas prosto na dworzec kolejowy. Poza tym do wielu atrakcji turystycznych centralnego Kioto można dojść z hotelu na piechotę - do pałacu cesarskiego, zamku Nijo... Hotel ogólnie można by uznać, za nienajwyższej klasy. Usługi spa (na ostatnim piętrze) dostępne są wszystkie tylko za dopłatą, podobnie jak posiłki. Jeśli chodzi o to ostatnie, to w pobliżu jest bardzo dużo knajpek i restauracji, i właściwie taki brak automatycznego wliczenia posiłku w cenę można uznać za rozwiązanie rąk. W hotelu dostępny jest bezpłatny internet, jednak - jak w niejednym miejscu w Japonii - tylko za podłączeniem kabla, który dostarcza hotel. Jest też możliwość wynajęcia laptopa na czas pobytu. Mnie szczególnie podobała się czystość. Można sobie oczywiście wybrać, czy chce się codziennej zmiany pościeli, czy też nie, ale zawsze po powrocie zastanie się porządek. Kyoto is a beautiful city. I enjoyed Kyoto best compared to Kobe & Osaka. After a great day of walking & touring about in Kyoto, it was a pleassure to return back to HMK. HMK is very comfortable and conveniently located. All the faciliites that are needed are located within short walking distance. 10 mins Walking distance to Nishiki market and the shopping arcades. If you feel up to it, you can even walk to the imperial palace...takes abt 20mins..ok to try in cooling weather. This is a very comfortable hotel and provides good security to her guest. Everything else in the room is prefect. This Hotel is definitely value for money. I stayed at this hotel for four nights and booked online so got a really good rate. It is in a perfect location as there are only two main metro train lines in Kyoto and they intersect at the station nearest the hotel (about 2 min walk from the closest exit but there are many exits!) so very convenient. A very nice hotel in Kyoto, price is good, location is good, 2 mins. walk to to the subway station, 15 mins. to the busy shopping area, convenience store is nearby. Will come back next time.

The hotel is easily located/ recognised if you can manage to go the right way down the dori's in kyoto, It's a short walk to the train station, no marathon. You can access the main districts in Kyoto eg: Gion by foot quite easily. Short walk to the kyoto manga museum, and the shopping districts. This is a good hotel on one of the main streets of Kyoto. The rooms are clean and the service is good.

with a 16months baby, a hubby over 6ft tall and well built, and our limited time for our first visit in Kyoto, my focus were: baby friendnliness, size of the bed and bathroom (my husband couldn't even stand up in a hotel in Tokyo!) and ease of getting to places. The bath was very comfy + nice - even slightly bigger than the one i have in my own house in the UK I think. The staff were very curteous as you would expect Japanese people to be, but they seemed genuine and were very warm. Top marks! If i have to be picky, it's about ease of getting to places form the hotel. 1) No problem if you don't mind walking as it's very close to an underground station, and walking distance to Major bus routes. Kyoto has a fab network of buses which i didn't realise till i got there. Prefer it to trains as it has a much more flexible and diverse route than the train. Also a capped fare if you buy a one day bus pass of only 500yen. If you hop on bus or train more than twice in a day, you'll save money this way. For us with 16 months old, the walking to the bus stop with a stroller took much more time than we'd have liked. 2) Concierge only told us one bus route to go to Kamigamo, a bus route that takes 45min plus, when i later discovered there is another route that takes only about 20min for walking a little further to a different bus stop. A little disappointed at that. My husband did comment on the 'firm' matteress that someone else did. It didnlt stop him from sleeping though. Also did notice the fluctuation in water temperature but the difference in the temperature was not significant enough to warrant a complaint. to conclude, i couldn't be happier with my experience at this hotel, especially since i thought that the quality to price ratio was very high, after looking at eye soring prices of other hotels. It's clean and very comfortable. Close to market , subway, bus stop, and shopping stores. All the staff are friendly and willing to help We had a great trip here.

Very nice hotel and good service. Room was very small and had an uncomfortable bed (both typical in Japan). Biggest drawback for us was the hotel was 3 blocks from the nearest bus station, which we found to be the most convenient form of transportation. Other than that, good place.

Room was BIG! Very comfortable and luxurious hotel. Good location to a variety of sight seeing things but a bit of a walk from the JR station - need to take the subway to hotel (about $3AUD) or a taxi (1000 yen). Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.

clean, quiet, convenient ... good hotel.

This hotel is one of the best places that I have stayed for the cost. The rooms are clean and big and they have an amazing spa pool area on the top floor. Conveniently located in Kyoto, this hotel is quite the gem!

Very pleaaed with this hotel. Convenient to subway (metro), restaurants, and supermarket. Staff was pleasant. If you are carrying luggage, be sure to inquire about which subway exit has an elevator.

This was my third time at Hotel Monterey and it won't be my last! If you are looking for a comfortable hotel in a luxiurious environment, Hotel Monterey is ideal. I frequent the spa area, for a choice of hot springs and sauna or the rock bed room. Its central location makes it convenient to go anyywhere, if you want to visit temples you can catch a […] nearby bus or take a leisurely stroll to the Gion district. Its about an half hour walk but there are plenty of shops and eateries to stop off at on the way. The subway is a stone throw away so if you're short on time, its always an option. I went to Arashiyama which is beautiful and visited the Bamboo forest. The bus stop is just up the road and it takes about 45mins! Hotel Monterey really is a luxiourious hotel in an ideal setting. water temperature in the bathroom was unstable, water coming out would be hot at the moment and then turn cold at the next, kind of annoying when you're taking a shower. Other than that, the hotel was awesome, and very convenient.

Nice stay especially Miss Tomi (hotel staff) is so thoughtful.

Hotel Monterey Kyoto is a great hotel located in the Downtown area of Kyoto.

Great hotel, very affordable, especially booked through Hotels.com. Very comfortable, great rooms, staff helpful and friendly.

Centrally located. A short walk to the nightlife area and a lot of restaurants. Convenient to take a bus to many temples. The room was really clean and modern. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Kyoto.

Stayed 3 nights here. Close to subway Karasuma-Oike but since most sights are reached by bus, it is a 3 block walk to Shijo/Karasuma where more buses are found. Not many eating places in the immediate vicinity but many convenience stores around the hotel. We arrived in Kyoto by bullet train and caught a cab to this hotel. It would be too far to walk with luggage. To our delight, we received a free upgrade to a Superior style room when we had only booked and paid for a Standard room. The room was small but very well appointed. We walked to many places from this hotel or caught reasonably priced taxis […] if we were tired. We were near a subway station and could get around and back easily. We ate at our favorite restaurants in Kyoto, Salvatore and En and were delighted to see how close we were to them. The evening drinks deal in 'The Library" bar was great. I have spent 6 nights in this hotel and it was a great time. The location is very convinient. The main shopping street Shijo is walking distance! I love it, I want to stay there again when I revisit Kyoto^_^ The only small issue is the room seems not very soundproof.

Stayed 5 nights at the Monterey. Conveniently located near the two subway lines and near many of the bus lines. Very good breakfast buffet. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. Room a little on the small side but not atypical for Japanese western style hotels.

This is a luxurious hotel with nicely decorated restaurants and lobby and very confortable rooms. The facilities were excellent and exceptionally clean. There was LAN connection in the rooms and a computer terminal with internet connection in the lobby (coin-operated). I would give this hotel full marks if it weren't for the fact that on my first night […] there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the room (even though it was supposed to be non-smoking). Also, I unfortunately woke up every morning with a few more insect bites in my body which were painful and made my holiday somewhat uncomfortable... For the money and location, Hotel Monterey might just be the best buy in Kyoto. The hotel is located on one of Kyoto's major streets (convenient for taxi and bus), one block from a Metro Station (necessary to visit many of the landmarks and attractions in the immediate area) and a US$14.00 taxi ride to the Kyoto Station. Be sure and purchase an All-Day […] Pass for Metro (and combined with bus if you plan to use both). Pass makes using the Metro easier, less expensive than multiple tickets in a single day. A major shopping street is only 4 blocks south, Imperial Palace grounds six blocks north, Post Office just 4 very short blocks to the east (for ATM, foreigners must use Post Office machine - opened 24-hours a day). Numerous shops and restaurants in the east-side neighborhood stretching about 1/4th of a mile on the east side of the street. Room size was convenient for single occupant. Plenty of storage space; pajamas available; huge bathroom tub for hot-water soaking after a long day of sightseeing! Very quiet and complimentary International Herald Tribune every morning. Draw backs: staff with limited English language ability; food in the hotel is expensive! Breakfast buffet during my visit: US$35.00. My first stop this time in japan and it was at a super awesome hotel, very nice design and installations, i liked the onsen on the top floor very much even it did cost extra but service there was great and facilities with different water types to, view of kyoto by night was breath taking, sadly it was only semi open and no real outdoor bath. The massage […] was also great and relaxing and price was okay. The beds were super fluffy , the hotel room was big enough and all the facilities did work like they should. The stress of the long travel did wear off there very fast, the location was a bit far from the JR railstation i had to take a taxi the first time to get there, after that i could explore the city a bit and find 2 good subway station around there (5 min by foot). The hotel is quite nice especially for the money. One would have expected to pay for a hotel of this quality. The rooms were very nice, comfortable, and clean, and the staff very friendly (and English-speaking) and eager to please. The decor and styling is a bit, well... odd, but its impeccably clean. My one quip would be that its a bit of a walk (30+ […] minutes) to the Eastern part of the city (where most of the sights, temples, etc. are). I am giving it a 3 stars because the hotel is in serious need of cleaning up their carpets and linens. I felt that it was more on the dirty side. I usually dont make comments like this bc i never really care about it being totally spotless since i understand with age there will be some dirt here and there but it was just too much and i felt like i couldnt […] walk around the room barefoot. If they shampoo the carpets and linens and get softer pillows then i would def recommend this place bc the people and location are good. I personally should have stayed closer to kyoto station as most of my plans revolved around it. This hotel IS walking distance to nishiki and gion though so thats the good part. I am from NY so im used to walking so if you are used to driving everywhere a 10 min walk might seem like too much just a fair warning.The local trains are fine. i didnt get to use the bus but i heard that is the best way to travel around. overall this hotel is ok if you want to stay in this location. i would probably stay elsewhere next time. They say never judge a book by its cover, but this hotel is an exception to the rule. Its looks fantastics, fit for a king and it is so comfortable. The decor has inspired my own house decor and the spa area especially the rock bed is wonderful! I booked for 2 nights and extended my stay. Hotel Monterey was a pleasure to stay in. The place is immaculate. Very nicely decorated and very quiet and convenient. We stayed there two nights and we very much enjoyed it. The staff is amazing. They went above and beyond. I would definitely stay there again.

This was my second time at Hotel Monterey and I don't think my last! I love this hotel. The interior is great and oppulent looking. The room (standard double) is a good size for a single person and the bed is very comfortable. You can hire a PC per night or use the public PCs in the foyer. The restaurants are expensive but there is plenty of choice […] in the neighbourhood. Many shops, restaurants, cafes in walking distance. There is easy access to the train station and other sighteeing spots are a bus ride away. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you like to stay in a luxurious and very comfortable setting. Excellent hotel. Sizable twin room. Clean & comfortable. Staff were very helpful with travel & sightseeing tips. They had maps, restaurant info sheets, bus pass sales etc. Just abt 30m from Exit 6 of Karasuma Oike station. Many convenience stores and a Fresco 24-hr supermarket very nearby. Would highly recommend this hotel to all Kyoto visitors.
