Halfway between Monastiraki and Omonia metro stations (the latter seems now quite normal place). Everywhere (antiquities, museums, restaurants) you could go on foot. Breakfest, wi-fi, small fridge (not minibar), complimentary coffee included. Terrace on the roof with Athens full panorama available day and night (also for smokers).

During the night district makes impression dangerous, we got a room where we felt a cigarette smoke, cleanliness was poor and furninhing old, reception staff very friendly, we even got some car space near entrance to the hotel. When I first stayed at the Sofitel, it was luxurious. But this last time, I was frankly surprised by how grubby my room was. The carpet was stained, the upholstery on the chairs was stained, and the bathroom had black mildew between the tiles. It was so noticeable that I was reluctant to sit on the chairs. "Great Stop for Weary Travelers"
The Sofitel at the Athens airport is our favorite stopover "splurge." In our last visit, we were encumbered with a wheelchair-bound traveler, and the staff were incredibly accomodating and helpful, from lending us a wheelchair, to helping with making sure the room was perfectly situated for mobility issues, and reconfirming (twice!) that the airline […] would come to the hotel to help us get back to the airport very early in the morning. While waiting in the lobby at 3:30am in the morning we were offered coffee - what a treat for very weary travelers. LOVE the Coco-Mat beds, linens and towels! We arrived late at night so we had booked this hotel. When we arrived we were given a large room with a two room bathroom. The shower was bigger than my bathroom at home. The staff was pleasant and friendly. They were apologetic for the general strikes that were taking place in Athens the week we were there. "Great airport location"
Hotel is in the perfect location if you have an early morning flight - like I did. We didn't hear any airplane noise. Facility was top of the line - room, amenities, location, etc. My only comment was if you are a budget traveler you are going to have to eat elsewhere - the prices for food at this location is obnoxiously expensive. "Great for making flight connections."
