If you want to go to Duke U. or have to go to the hospital, that's ok. The rooms are ok (actually quite big) and clean enough (even if the towels are almost transparent and a bit rough). "University Inn Durham near Duke University"
Room was nearly twice as large as the average hotel room. Location across the street from Duke Hospital and a few blocks from Duke Univ. campus was perfect. Free shuttle to and from campus was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely stay here again for my next campus visit, and I would definitely stay here if I ever needed to be near the hospital. "Duke University inn-do not stay here"
This hotel was outdated, had worn out furniture. The sheets were worn out and would not even stay on the mattress. There was a pad covering the mattress and it kept bunching up. The carpet and furniture caused me to have allergies from mildew and dust mites. The evening attendent was rude, and would not assist us when we needed a cot in our room.
The University Inn at Duke Hospital,was very close to the Hospital Clinic. We were able to walk to the Hospital,and it fit my needs for these tests.

"Good for a one night stay"
This hotel was fine for what we needed it for - an overnight stay to visit Duke University. Rooms were large.

"Not given what was promised"
I made a reservation for me, my brother and my parents. My dad was having some surgery at Duke. My mom had a stroke about 6 weeks ago. Therefore I asked for adjoining rooms. "Clean and comfortable"
This is a very clean, economical and comfortable hotel by Duke University. They have a shuttle to all points of the university, which is convenient. The price includes a simple but satisfying breakfast. They had 3 types of cereal, muffins, bagels, juice, coffee and milk.
"A Good Choice for this visit"
Front desk staff were helpful and courteous. Close to downtown Durham area. But, upholstered chair in sitting area in room had broken back that was not noticeable until you sat in it. Under sofa needed cleaning. Tub water stopper didn't work; couldn't take a bath. This hotel was just fine for my needs. Not fancy, and the staff were not very professional or helpful, but I did not require much assistance, so it was not a problem. This hotel is next to the Brookwood Inn. We have stayed ln both. The University Inn is supior. They offer weekly rates,, the rooms are larger,and personnel are very helpful.
Comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Location is great.

"Fine, not outstanding"
It was fine for the price. Nice big and clean room. Earlier reviews spoke toward the day and evening staff and are spot on. There were some problems - it was extremely hot outside and the shower would was only hot - would have liked something cooler.
"Satisfactory accomodation in good location"
Nothing special but OK for the price. The selling point is easy walking distance to Duke hospital (two blocks) and clinics (five blocks), a bit farther to campus. "Breakfast" is cold cereal or pastries/muffins. Room was very large with lots of furniture. Nice big counter in bathroom. Air conditioner worked fine oin 100 degrees.

University Inn is a convenient place to stay if you are going to any of the facilities of Duke University Hospital or clinic. The prompt shuttle service to and from appointments is free and they cater to your individule need. The continental breakfast is at what I would call the minimum one could expect from a hotel for the price. "Great Location, Great Stay"
The hotel was in a great location right across the street from Duke Hospital. The room was clean and comfortable. While some parts of Durham can be worrisome to stay in, this hotel was well lit and secure. My mother never felt safe during her stay.

The room was clean and large. The shuttle service and proximity to Duke University clinics and hospital was the major draw to booking this hotel. It was a good value as well. The front desk service seemed much better during the day. At night into early morning the staff seemed a bit surly and rough around the edges but still efficient. The Hotel is located in walking distance to the Duke Hospital. There is a free shuttle bus going between the Hospital and downtown Durham, but there are no grocery stores or restaurant in walking distance. Hotel offers a small breakfast and has large rooms.

"Clean and quiet"
Spent the weekend there for duke alumni weekend. Very clean, quiet and spacious rooms. No frills but well worth the price. Front desk guy a little rough around the edges. Free breakfast in the mornings and coffee available all day.

What a great value for the money. Clean room, not fancy by any means, but fridge and microwave in the room. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. I'd stay here again.

"Huge Rooms - convenient to Duke hospital"
Wow! We had a huge room - bigger than some five stars we've stayed at. Frig was twice normal size, plus a microwave. I had meetings and there were tables and chairs in the lobby that worked well. "Met My Needs"
Overall, the experience was pleasant thank to the morning attendant who offered help and information about the area. There was also juice, milk, coffee, pastires, cereal and bagels in the morning...which was simple but good that I could have a free breakfast right at the hotel. The room was neat and clean!
