"Wonderful Anniversary Getaway"
Beautiful room....did not disappoint! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and reasonable at the restaurant. Pool was nice. Minimal overnight parking cost, but the street was free. Definitely will stay again. Charles Town Races & Slots within 28 miles. Great getaway.

"Nice Hotel with Character for a Small Town"
Winchester is a charming, small town and makes for a great long weekend getaway. It is nice to stay in a hotel that has character and doesn’t feel like a standard highway exit chain operation. The rooms are nice and well maintained. The public areas are all attractive. I was surprised to be charged a parking fee in a small town like this. I can understand […] in a big city where many people don’t arrive by car. But most people must need a car to get there. So everyone must have to pay the fee. I hate extra fees that are unavoidable. Just up the rate by $5 instead of charging me later for parking. My only other complaint has to do with the pool. The hot tub was so incredibly hot that I (and others in the pool area) couldn’t stay in for more than 2 minutes. And it was full of bubbles (?) like a bubble bath. "Good experience w/ two exceptions!"
The room was nice. The bathroom was great. Dancing Goat (hotel restaurant) was unrealistically pricey. Food nor service matched the expense. The pool/hot tub was nice. The exception I spoke of was there was a reception or other gathering of some sort on pur 2nd night. We were on the second floor and our entire room vibrated for hours!! I could sing […] the lyrics to each song it was so loud! It was finally over just after midnight. I can appreciate their facilities provide that type of entertainment, but the hotel guests should not suffer for it! The next morning wasn't fun. I had a great experience at this hotel! Hotel staff was very friendly and professional. They had many events going on (wedding, birthday party etc) and everyone was calm and helpful. We have stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years and always enjoy our time there. Unfortunately this time we found they had added the addition of a refrigerator in the room that did not fit with the decor of the room and took up a lot of space. We have learned to deal with the 4.00 $ parking fee but now they are charging a 1.50 $ room […] safe fee. This is an added charge that does not show up untill you check in. Although clearly a first-class hotel, the New Year Eve experience -- for a sold-out hotel -- was marred by total collapse of the room lock computer which prevented all guests from entering their rooms until 2 am or later. "George Washington - I can't wait to come back"
We were just passing through on a multi-day drive trip down Skyline drive/BR Parkway, and the George Washington was a somewhat random selection. We were truly impressed with the room, the hsitory of the hotel and especially the wonderful historic neighborhood. We were sorry we were only staying the one night, and we definitely want to go back.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times when I am visiting my daughter at college. Although it is a bit of a drive for me to get from the hotel to the college, the ride is worth it! Lovely room, awesome shower, and a very friendly staff. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious.

What stands out to me is the fabulous bathroom- especially the shower- combination of a great shower head with excellent water pressure- so rare in hotel stays. Excellent choice for romantic anniversary weekend. Beautiful room - so glad we upgraded to the suite - fantastic shower and spa bath. Can't wait to come back in the winter to use the fireplace. Fantastically comfortable bed, pillows, and linens. I even wanted to bring the furniture and desk chair home - don't think I've ever thought that about a hotel […] before! The entire staff was welcoming and friendly - real southern hospitality!! Same goes for the people we encountered in the town. Easy walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and shops in the walking mall. For a really special meal, we recommend One Block West - freshest local food prepared in a simply elegant fashion without being overly complicated or fussy. We also drove to Alamo Drafthouse movie theater for a unique experience of movie and dinner at the same time. We have been driving by Winchester on I-81 for the last 25 years and had no idea how charming the downtown area would be. This was our first visit to Winchester but it won't be the last - and we wouldn't stay anywhere else but the George Washington. Excellent bed and linens. Very comfortable. bathroom was great, especially the large luxurious shower. Winchester was such a cute town to visit and we had a wonderful time.

Best hotel for the area. Upon checkin, made sure to announce we booked with Expedia. Didn't understand why that was necessary. First room no bathtub so requested another and was accommodated. Great restaurants nearby. Don't miss the best Italian food outside Italy at Violina and an amazing Pad Thai at Thai Winchester.

Highly recommended. This is an old hotel completely renovated to it's former look of 80 years ago. Everyone employed there from the valet to the bartender was exceptionally nice. The restaurant food was very good. We will be back to this hotel the next time we are here

Our choice of the George Washington Hotel was surrendipitous! The fascade and decor was representative of an historic hotel. Each hotel room, and our party rented three, was beautifully appointed, extremely clean and spacious. The Laughing Goat restaurant provided outstanding service and a four star cuisine for dinner and therefore, we enjoyed breakfast […] there the following morning. The manager was on site and suggested many nearby attractions and alerted us to the Apple Blossom festival, which will be held in late April this year. What a GREAT place to stay! The room was fantastic (and very spacious), the pool and hot tub were great (the pool was cozy), and the atmosphere was wonderful. I especially loved the fact that they are eco-friendly. You put this little card on your pillow and that means you want your sheets washed- otherwise, they don't excessively wash them to save […] energy. My ONLY concern was that there is no fan in the bathroom. There was no way to get out steam from a hot shower except for leaving the bathroom door open. The parking options were neat too- I didn't mind parking on the street at a meter (so long as I got down there before 9 a.m. and put some change in it!). FANTASTIC place to stay- and SO beautiful!
