"If you like to keep busy on vac, this is the place"
The resort is located about an hour NE of Liberia. The roads aren't great getting up there, but not horrible either. We rented a small car and made it fine. It is extremely mountainous, hence the name, and some areas of the drive are very steep and narrow. Be very careful around corners and on narrow bridges. The resort itself is beautiful. Each guest […] has their own bungalow, or suite and they overlook the valley. If you stay in the jr suites, just know that it is quite a steep hike up, but you can also request a ride from the golf carts that are always around. If you are into physical fitness, I recommend walking/running the few dirt roads in the area. You will get a great workout. The tours were great. We did 2, ziplining and a hike to the waterfalls. Both were on horseback. The guides were also great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. If you go, request Marco. He was very funny and kept us thoroughly enteretained. I think the only negative would be the lack of restaurants. There really is just one and then a small place to eat lunch near the pools. They definitely could have more menu choices or rotate the menu. They did allow me to order off the lunch menu twice at dinner. Some of the dinner options were kind of weird and the desserts on the dinner menu weren't good, at least in my opinion. They were lacking chocolate. I would definitely recommend Borinquen Mtn Resort. "Great resort near Liberia"
I loved this place. We had a Toyota RAV 4 so the 16 or so km on rocky/dirt road was fun. Great layout of grounds and rooms. Extremely friendly staff. One hour from entrance to Parque Rincon de la Vieja. We did a great ATV trip around the local countryside. The ONLY downside from my standpoint were the dinner options. SInce you are in beautiful setting […] off the main road it is understandable that their restraurant is the ONLY available food option. But they should expand the dinner menu to include hamburgers and pizza, and other simpler items. They should not maintain a pretension of fine dining, and that is what I felt they did to an extent. It is a very nice place with extremely nice staff, but have some more "down to earth" menu options. I would DEFINITELY stay there again, even if nothing changed about the restaurant. "Borinquen volcano environs without the volcano"
We thought that staying here would put us close to the volcano but not true. Go there first and then relax here (1 1/2 hour away) A natural retreat with all the sulfur steam and volcano mud to sooth the body after you ride the resorts zip line and horses. Great place to see wildlife too.
Muy bien.El sitio esta muy bonito. La sauna y el bano de lodo es spectacular. El restaurante podria estar mejor y los servicios de Spa son muy buenos, pero muy caro.
