"Babbling Brook- a true delight"
My husband and I stayed at this delightful B&B in Santa Cruz during November to celebrate his birthday. The staff was very friendly, accomodating, nand truely top notch. The manager made banana pancakes (my husband's favorite) for his birthday breakfast. The food was delicious. The B&B is about 10-15 minute walk from the Boardwalk/Warf area. The only […] downside was the noise from the main street. If you are a light sleeper (like me) I suggest bringing a noise machine to help mask the steet noise. "Charming, Must Address A Couple Issues"
Location, structure, service, charm - all great. But the Babbling Brook needs to address the odor issue. I am not sure of the source, but I know that using cheap plugin air scenters is going to turn off a lot of people. These things smell sickening and cheap. For the price of this hotel, I would expect potpourri, etc. If the odor is natural because […] of moss, the brook, etc. OK. This is nature. "Babbling Brook, an exiperience that is worth it"
Firstly, I would go there again in a heartbeat. It is charming and I was charmed. It is easier to review a poor hotel than a good one, and this is a good one. I stayed in the cheapest room. The whirlpool thingy is actually part of the bath (and I didn't even realise this uniti I left) and the patio is smaller than I expected. However, I didn't use […] either of them, which surpirsed me. My only bug-bear ais that Tte room wasn't quite as wrm as I would have liked even after I figured out the heating. But then again, the weather was abnormally cool for that time of year. Breakfast is delicious and I got up just so as not to miss it. Homemade quiche one day and eggs benedict another, plus cereals, toast, croissants and fresh fruit etc. In the evening they do nibbles (cheese etc) and wine that will have you checking the time so that you don't miss it. "The only place to stay in Santa Cruz!"
I'm so happy we found this lovely B&B in Santa Cruz. Don't know when we'll get back, but it really is the only place I'd want to stay there! "Charming place in the middle of town"
A surprising find, on a side street with a stream and rustic landscaping. The room was spacious and very attractive. Each room has an Impressionistic art them (ours was Van Gough, we were next to Monet). The manager, Tom, was extremely pleasant and friendly (and made great homemade banana pancakes for breakfast). "The Babbling Brook - Home way from home"
Rightnfrom the time we were greeted at reception and Tom came and introduced himself we knew this was gong to be special. We have travelled for 2 months mover USA & Canada & this was the best. Thank goodness we saved it to the end! The hospitality is just outstanding

The staff here were wonderful! Extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. A bit pricy.
The history of the hotel was interesting, but the grounds and gardens need much attention. The wonderful late afternoon snacks and wine were so welcoming after a day of travel. Breakfast was great as well. Though our room was charming, the design of the bathroom left no room for grooming items nor was their table top space for laptops and organizing […] travel items in the room. "Perfect weekend getaway for couples or families"
We went there for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary (sans kids) and loved it. It is nestled in this little neighborhood and has enough property to make you think you are not in a city. It is def. rustic. The grounds are not perfectly manicured and there are tons of spider webs. But if you like that feeling of being secluded in a cabin in the woods […] (even tho you are a 5 min from downtown Santa Cruz), you will love it! The rooms are def. no cabin, though.. they are cute little rooms just big enough for two (there are bigger rooms for those with family.. and we did see people with kids there). A smallish but quaint bathroom.. with jacuzzi tub (and bath salts provided). A queen bed, a TV/ VCR (could use a DVD) and Free wireless internet. A small sitting alcove with lots of windows and a small porch to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous campus and babbling brook. It is close to dntown Santa Cruz and Boardwalk or mountains (we went to Henry Crowell) or Capitola. Every morning the breakfast is AMAZING and I eat more than I should (quiche, fruit, pancakes.. and they have boiled eggs and cereal for those watching what they eat). Every evening they have wine and cheese (and more-- crudite, caprese salad.. that was FRESH!). They also provide books, VHS movies, newspaper, and other little activities (cribbage, etc). A nice lobby sitting room with a great wooden deck, a gazebo, and swing. There was nothing missing, in my opinion. I plan on coming back with the kids sometime. The price is right, too! "Babbling Brook Inn - Great place to stay"
Our stay at the B & B was wonderful. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with a new menu each day. In the evening they offered wine and appetizers with a beautiful deck in which to sit and enjoy. Our room was very nice, and the garden was inviting. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help in anyway. Great stay!

Lovely Inn in the Bed and Breakfast tradition. My only problem was that the room we had fronted the road and we could hear the cars passing by. Ask for any other room and you will be completely satisfied!

The property is forestry and rustic surrounded by a residential neighborhood and close to shops and commerce. The room was decorated in good taste and simple. "Beautiful grounds - but dated"
Beautiful grounds - loved sleeping to the sound of the creek running through the property. Very friendly at check in - but bedding and room conditions definitely need to be updated and freshened up. Nice breakfast but nothing outstanding.

The babbling Brook Inns staff were pleasant and very helpful as to any needs I might have. ie--cabs or local sites. friendly and courteous. The wine and cheese was nice as was the morning breakfast.. Very laid back and restful.

"A hobbit village nestled under redwoods"
This is a hidden gem of an inn: very close to the beach, conveniently located, but hidden away among gardens and built around a natural coastal stream. I arrived at 9:30 pm and after a climb up a stairway lighted with fairy lights, I met the friendly, genuine smile of the woman who had spoken to me on the phone. She put me up in the "Fern Grotto" room […] with a king-sized bed and a balcony overlooking a water wheel and the brook. My bathroom had deep pile towels and a jacuzzi tub, and the unexpected bonus of a lovely stained-glass accent on its French door. This is the perfect place to take your sweetheart on a romantic weekend, or an affordable solo retreat. The next morning I enjoyed a full breakfast in the reception room next to a roaring fire, overlooking geraniums on the veranda. If I can, I will be back again for more than one night. Adorable cottages surrounded by tall trees and luscious gardens with a babbling brook running through the property. Great customer service! Delicious complimentary breakfast served with a smile! Our stay at the Babbling Brook Inn was the best part of our vacation.
