Staff could be better, clean & comfortable room. Price just a bit high for age of hotel.

This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel. One of the older hotels on the strip, but clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast is a plus. Convenient to shops and activities. Rooms are oceanfront. If you're looking for a moderate priced hotel, this is a good place to stay.

Balcony was great, comfort of room was also good, but the shower head was unacceptable

This isn't 4 star hotel, but the friendliness of the staff does make you overlook some of the deficiencies. Clean comfortable room, nice indoor pool and friendly staff make it a place to add to the return stay list.

We didnt arrive until late and the staff was still courteous at the late hour. The parking garage was "awful" the spaces are very close together and if anyone parked a little bit off it throws the entire row off. Difficult to get in and out of the spaces. On the first night a spot was available that was under the cover in hte garage but on the second […] night we had to park on the roof and walk down plenty of stairs through the garage and into the other half of the building to get to the elevator to go down one floor......a little confusing. The room was clean and we were facing the ocean so we could smell the wonderful air and watch the people doing activities on the boardwalk. So,....for the price and the location it was well worth it. I decided to stay overnight in the Va Beach area on business. The off season rates were great. Room was clean, staff was very helpful, and extremely friendly. It was what i expected for a beach resort hotel. things were a little dated, but you cant expect the Ritz when the bulk of the traffic is covered in Sand and ocean water. The Hotel is locate in a great area. Guest service was excellent and very Helpful, expecially Giovanni. The walls in the room are a little too thin for me, could hear the kids next door playing around. There was some draft coming in from the bottom of the balcony door.( We were there in winter. ) And the fire alarm went off for no reason. I may go back […] there, but if the price rises I would not. We stayed at Surfside over Thanksgiving. Upon checking in the desk person gave us a list of places that were open on Thanksgiving which was very helpful. It was close to the shops and places to eat and the pool was nice. We had good weather and took advantage of the balcony. Will stay here again!

I had absolutely no issues with my hotel stay; however, I think the cancellation policy should be relooked. I booked my room for an event which didn't happen due to the weather and wanted to cancel my reservation but was told that I needed to cancel 73 hours out. My reason was not an emergency, which is needed to cancel with proof, but with the event […] being cancelled and the bad weather I had no need to travel the 4 hours that it took to get there. Things happen in life at the last minute all of the time and it shouldn't take an emergency to cancel reservations without being charged a full nights stay. Times are tough enough now to be able to enjoy stays at a hotel on the beach, let alone being charged a night's stay whether you stay in the room or not because of something coming up. My husband and I enjoyed our stay completely. We were pleased with the room location. The indoor pool is on the 5th floor and we were near it. Coffee and tea was available in the lobby. It could have possibly some healthier breakfeast choices but the waffles and syrup were very good.Our only dissappointment was finding out that the other guest parking […] there left a ding in our car in the parking lot. The staff was very nice and professional the room was a little smaller than the last time we stayed there but was clean we would stay there again

The rooms were very nice and had been recently updated. The balcony was a good size and offered excellent ocean views. We were able to watch the sunrise from our bed. The location is very convenient and within walking distance to lots of shops and the pier. There was ample parking and easy access to the building through the parking garage.

Spent 9 days at this location and was totally satified with the entire stay. Desk service was excellent and so was house keeping.Two blocks to the pier. Neptune festival was great. We extended 3 days to take it in. All in all Great.

As much as we wanted to stay in a Marriott suite, our budget simply would not allow it. We decided upon this hotel and it was satisfactory. The location was absolutely wonderful! We were beachfront, had bike rentals just downstairs, just south of the middle of the boardwalk, so we were super close to everything without being in the busiest spot. The […] room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and more shampoo/conditioner/soap (which was Neutrogena!), and the staff friendly and helpful. Our air conditioner had seen better days, but it definitely kept the room very cold. It was just hard to turn it down when we got chilly! The toilet had a leak the last day we were there, but they seemed like they were going to fix it right away when we checked out. The bathrooms look like they had been remodeled recently, which was good, since they were small, but functional. There was decent storage space for everything, but we were only there 4 days. If we had stayed longer, I would have been wishing I had more seating/better storage so I did not feel like I was on top of everything. The breakfast was good. Very clean and nice hotel will stay again,needs to be updated a little bit but our stay was great! Good location good staff, but not a 5 star hotel and not a dump.Will go back!

Just my luck I picked a rainy weekend, This was my first stay here in this inn, It was older but very well maintained. Parking was tight but safe, lighted and best off all free. Most everything was in walking distance so the car was never moved with the exception of one rainy down pour. A very nice all you can eat seafood buffet down stairs that is […] worth a try. Very good stay, staff was friendly and helpful. The view of the ocean, pier, boardwalk and all was perfect from the rooms large windows and balcony. The pool was very clean. We never had to ask for anything.

Location, Location, Location.... this is one one of the best locations at the beach, close to everything. The hotel is dated and the rooms are small. What it lacks in modern convenience it recovers with location and service. The front desk responds very quickly to any problems that come up. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool is nice. Hotel Staff were great always friendly! Only complaint was room size we have infant twins and the room was so small for us and 2 pack and plays. We had to re arrange furniture and move things into the balcony because the room was so small. Also bathroom sink is super small no room or places for your bathroom items. We rented a bike form a store inside the hotel. Chain of the bike came off immidiately after we left the store. The owner was watching all of this and tried to fix the chain but could not fix it. We asked for the refund as he had all other bikes very old. He refused to give us refund for something we did not use because the bikes were not maintained […] properly by the owner. This hotel is in a great location at a great price. It is right on the boardwalk in the middle of everything and all the rooms have a great ocean view with a balcony! We even saw dolphins off in the distance in the early morning. Our room came with a fridge, microwave and safe (that was actually easy to use). There was no coffee pot in the room but […] there was free coffee in the main lobby 24/7. The continential breakfast was nice: Bagels, muffins, danishes, cereal, toast, oatmeal, and you even had the option to make your own waffles which was great!. The pool was even open most of the day (10a-10p I think). It was nothing amazing but it was clean and served its purpose. The only bad thing was that the connected hot tub was not 'on' and there wasn't any switches to turn it on. Plus no one was there to ask for help. Overall you can't beat the location(and view) for the price. Service was nice as well and the room was clean. Beds were average and we had fresh towels whenever we needed them. The hotel was OK. A bit on the dated side, but overall was clean and the staff was friendly. The cont. breakfast was alright, but they should add some protein of some sort. This was the easiest reservation I have ever been involved in. The hotel had everything we needed and it was so very conveniently located near everything we needed to see. We only moved the car one time to go to Captain George's - this was a bust. Too crowded, we did not get in.

Hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Couldn't figure out the AC because it was not labeled. Other than that, all went well.

I did enjoy the stay and being on the beach is always excellent. The hotel is nice over all. The beds were comfortable. I did have a few complaints. The breakfast needs PROTEIN! No protein at all except for peanut butter. The hotel's WiFi was weak--I work online and it would often kick me off line. The fitness room was sad--they even had chairs stacked […] up in the room. it really sucked. bathroom was really - really small. Air condition was not working, it was so hot in the room. they charged so much & condition of hotel was nasty.

We had a wonderful time at this location. We would stay here again!

the rooms were very small. the elevators were very slow. Nice breakfast was provided. Hallways were very warm and parking was difficult, parking spaces very close and had access to elevator only on 2nd and 3rd floor car ramps.

We really enjoyed our stay at Surfside. For the record, we have stayed in many hotels on the oceanfront in Virginia Beach. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous and friendly. The breakfast was satisfactory. The view was georgeous from our balcony. We will definitely book there in the future. Thank you staff. 2 thumbs up to you.

We arrived at around 11 am and although check-in wasn't until 3, the staff checked us in, gave us our parking pass and a place to change. We were told to come back at 3 to get our keys -- the room still wasn't quite ready and we needed to wait about 30 minutes longer. All in all, it was a nice room. I'd stay there again.
