We were not impressed with this hotel. Room and bathroom were very small. It is in a great location though. I would not recommend HR Hotel to my friends or family.

Great location but guest rooms very dark when you first enter the room and inadequate lighting in entry. Bathrooom lighting also very dim. Shower with half glass closure laked out of area.

This location, though not in the Magnificent Mile, was literally steps away from all of the excitement that Chicago has to offer. It's is one block from the river in the Loop- perfect for work trips or pleasure. We were pleased with hotel conceirge staff and their suggestions. Room was comfortable, except for bedding. The hotel is in a great location, but that is about it. The rooms are ok, nothing special - everything seems kind of cheap. Also not very clean- the rug felt dirty and the bedding was faded/yellow. In addition, the valet charge is excessively expensive- as is the room service, which is limited and not very good. Honestly, $5.00 for a tiny bottle of […] Diet Coke is ridiculous. Great value compared to other rated hotels. Friendly staff, music a bit loud in bar -- need a lounge with conversation friendly decibels. But hey, it is the Hard Rock!

I picked the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago because of its location. It's right in the middle of everything we were looking for on our trip, which saved us a ton on cab fare. My only complaint would have been the cleaning lady, who bugged us incessantly about when we would be leaving so she could clean our room. We told her at check-out the first time, and […] she continued to ask until we actually left. Other than the cleaning lady, everything else was great. Great location, just south of the Chicago River (so not in the midst of shopping, but close). Awesome room (Elvis Floor - 15th) with a corner view of Michigan Avenue. The hotel is great, and clean. decorated nicely. great helpful staff. the gym was small but with good equipment. the pillows were too soft and the mattress wasn't anything to brag about. The beddings were clean but seemed too small or not tucked in properly, as they came off completely. beware of the mini-bar scam. on the last night they gave me a bill […] for mini-bar items I had not used, when they were confronted, they just said how their minibar system was not working properly and took the bill out of my hands. however the items mentioned in the bill were not all in the minibar fridge itself! The staff was great. The room got very warm overnight. Turn the temp down before bed.

As usual, the hotel staff was very friendly and the service great. Great location for my business meetings downtown.

This hotel is awesome... I wanted to stay some place different, not the same boring beige colors. It really did deliver. I could have stayed a lot longer. I would HIGHLY recommend the hotel to anyone.

I had a wonderfull experience at the Hard Rock. Great staff, from the check in desk to housekeeping, it might have been the friendliest staff I have seen. I had a great stay and will defineatly return!

We love the Hard Rock Hotel-Chicago and have stayed there many times, especially for our wedding aniversary. This stay was equally enjoyable but one problme took place: they are not organized for breakfast. We weren't aware they made the conversion to breakfast in the hotel bar/lounge area since their breakfast facility closed down. There were understaffed […] and the food we ordered, bagels and english muffins, took forever to come out. Many people were visibly frustrated and some even waked out before their order was served. The server was very up front and apologized for this situation, even comping our food, although we didn't want her to do this. When we checked into our room there was a sock on the floor from the previous guest, which always makes you a bit skiddish about the rooms cleanliness, but it was in fact clean and neat. Finally, the floor was very noisy. Loud voices were occuring at 3 in the morning. Not much you can do about this. Horrible service!

Stayed here before the Buddy Guy Concert Jan 29th. Great Room. Great Gift Shop.. Bar a bit small and Pricey.. Completed the Whole music experience.. Would stay there again.. The staff was very friendly.

I reluctantly booked at this hotel because my other favorites in the area were sold out. In general, this hotel spends too much time trying to be cool and not enough time on the basics. The room amenities are sub-par; lighting in the room was *awful*; the shower liner barely reaches to the top of the tub, causing spill over and leakage; the full length […] mirror is like something out of a fun-house and essentially useless; there was no shower gel or toothpaste, and when i called down for toothpaste I got a pea-sized sample that was almost comical; in-room wireless is extra; the hotel gym was TINY and in a dungeon-like setting. This particular hotel was adequate as far as comfort. The location was great since we were going to the theater. However, when I tried to call for room service, no one answered. I called several times, eventually calling the front desk and concierge. No answer! Had to walk down to the lobby in my socks to place a "room service" order. We didn't even […] get an apology! Really enjoyed my stay. Everything was comfortable, the staff was helpful. Drinks in the bar were a little pricey and the food selection there was minimal. I would stay again.

The room was nice and we had a great view but because we bought the hotel room on hotels.com they way over charged for the internet. They wanted us to pay $13 per 24 hours per device! My boyfriend and I both have iphones, we both have laptops, and I have an ipad. We were taking a "vacation" but our work never really lets us leave. Not only do they make […] you pay that huge rate they block your phones from getting on the internet. I was not happy! Then the extra charges they had on the bill when I went to check out were not even ours. They were trying very hard to get every penny out of us they could and offered no services in return! Loved it! The rooms are fun and neat. Loved the bathroom. So close to everything we walked everywhere despite the cold windy weather! Chicago is awesome!

Everything about the Hard Rock was as good as it gets.

I was very excited to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel (we were only there for one night) and after reading about what they offer and where they are located I couldn't wait to get there. However, I was sadly disappointed with the room. The pictures from the website look nothing like the actual room. Our room felt more like a home office than a hotel room. […] We also found food on the floor in the bathroom and next to bed when we first checked in. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating to us. Even though we were unsatisfied with our stay at the hotel it was located in a good spot. No problems with the hotel. Nice place, cleaned and very comfortable. For sure I won't go to other hotel in Chcago next time.

first night we could not sleep at all drunk people and our room was just next to the elevator and we can hear all what was happening out side. the closet very poor sometimes doesnot even close. not working table or coffee table like any other hotel.

You can't beat a hotel that's right on Michigan Ave. It's a five minute walk to Millennium Park! Staff was very friendly and helpful. I asked the concierge for someplace close that played live music and he handed me two free admissions to the bar Howl at the Moon. Saved me $20 for cover charges! Great venue too. The rooms are ok. They are a modern style […] but come off as pretty cold. The beds were not made with fitted sheets. A small gripe, but every time I woke up I was either laying on the mattress pad or the mattress itself. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Nice, clean, well designed, great location, the works. The shower pressure was a bit low, but that's about it.

With the Hard Rock 'hip' factor, our rooms were very nice and the hotel is so centrally located we walked all over. Millennium Park is one block away, right on the Magnificent Mile area, and close to the 'neighborhoods' like Lincoln Park and Wrigley field area. We were there in the dead of winter, yet it was easy to go back for another layer if needed. […] When we had walked enough and wanted to rest our room had been cleaned and was ready for us again. Our favorite spot ended up being the Michigan Ave. sidewalk windows at the China Grill bar where we could have a libation and people watch. Friendly staff. Of course you have the Hard Rock memorabilia which gives it an added entertainment value. Kind of funny seeing Kiss in the bathroom and Iggy Pop on the wall when you fall asleep. I would certainly recommend the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago to people to anyone who enjoys a relaxed, modern environment with many options in walking distance...the sites and scenery are absolutely AWESOME!!!!! My initial impression of the HRH is impressive. Upon arriving, the front desk upgraded our room to a suite and put us on the 31st floor. The room was fantastic, very clean, hip, plenty of room for us and the view was spectacular. When going out for the night, the valets were friendly, fun, and also quick with their jobs, both with getting our car or […] grabbing us cabs. The hotel was fantastic on our first night. We came in on the 30th to stay through new years. The staff was friendly and the rooms were great. The view from the room was also really nice. I enjoyed the kiurig in the room with the inserts. The beds were outstanding, some of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever stayed on. The second night however […] was a disaster. While I understand it was New Years Eve and there was a huge event going on at the hotel, I found the staff to be completely rude. THe room we stayed in was connected to another room full of people who were loud and smelled like they were smoking. THe noise started at about 7 with loud music. We left to go out and returned to the room about 1 am. The people were back in their room screaming, blasting music and smelled as if they were smoking. This continued untll 230. I tried to use the room phone to call downstairs and it would not connect to the front desk. In my pajamas I took the elevator down to find a hugeeeee cluster of people trashed trying to get upstairs. When I told hte front desk what was going on they were rude and inconsiderate about the situation. They brushed it off as if it was not a big deal. While I understand it was new years eve, I find it ridiculous that they did nothing to help the situation. THey simply rolled their eyes and told me to go back upstairs. Due to the long line at the elevator and me being in pajamas I tried taking the stairs. They had people guarding the stairs and told me to go back down and wait in line for the elevator with the huge drunk crowd. In my twenties myself I understand that people want to party on new years, however i do not think the hard rock hotel did a great job to help the situation when i came down complaining about the noise. This was our third visit to Chicago and each time we have stayed at the Hard Rock. It is boutique style of hotel that is locate in a great part of the downtown. We park our car and leave it parked using the CTA and walking to most places. The rooms are modern, clean and suit us perfectly. We will stay there again on our next visit.
