"It was only the view!"
Unfortunately I have to write a bad review as we both love Roma but this hotel is a 'no no'. We were given the smallest room, with the view of an old mop bucket and rubbish stored away at the back of the hotel. My partner said 'its the first hotel he has been into where you can wash your feet, clean your teeth in the sink and wash your hair under the […] shower all from sitting on the toilet!' Breakfast was terrible, no clean tables and the waitress wasn't bothered about were you sat or what you wanted... The seating area was all patio furniture on the top floor of the hotel. The only good thing was the view from the breakfast room.. of the fountain. We have stayed in many hotels around Italy and this has been the worse... Sorry for being negative.. "Hotel Fontana - Gladly recommended to EVERYONE"
Wonderful cozy place! The location is obviously prime - smack-dab in front of the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi). The staff is extremely helpful. Upon our arrival from the airport a nasty cabby was trying to scam us out of 120 Euro. The manager of Hotel Fontana told us not to pay him, called the police and approached the cabby with us and the cops […] right at the fountain! Talk about chutzpah. Thanks to him the cabby completely changed his tune and we saved a hefty amount of money. The daily breakfast is very convenient but fairly standard. THE ROOMS were VERY comfortable and surprisingly spacious for Rome! The bathroom was also atypically spacious for Rome and, of course, very, very clean. Housekeeping was also extremely thorough. Please note that there is construction being done at the moment so the view of the fountain is obscured. However, the construction is not noisy or inconvenient in any way apart from the view. So unless you plan on spending all day hanging out in your room, the construction will barely make any difference. Looking forward to our next visit to Rome but with more friends :)! "Great location, make sure there is no scaffolding"
When my wife and I arrived, we were so bummed b/c the outside was covered in scaffolding obscuring our Trevi view. The hotel tried to make it up to us by giving us 6 hours free internet - which was not enough. Luckily we got a pretty good view of Trevi from the breakfast terrace. Room was typical of European sizes but was clean and tidy. Staff were polite, helpful and courteous and could speak English. Loved the location-only a coins throw from the Trevi Fountain. All was fine with hotel except for two complaints. The bathrooms were very uncomfortable. I had to change rooms after first night because I had to go down six steps to use the bathroom...and with a bad knee this was not good. In the 2nd room you had to be a gymnast to sit on the toilet or weigh less than 120 lbs or be very young and agile ... it was […] such a hassle. The toilet was in between the wall, the bidet and the sink making it very difficult to sit on it. Not good for elderly with knee problems or heavy people. Also, the lady serving breakfast did not have a good attitude...as if she did not like her job at all. One more thing...you have to go up the steps one floor to the breakfast area...just in case climbing is difficult. The location was great in front of Fontana Trevi...but if you want to see it in peace and enjoy it...get up early and go see it at 7 AM so you can take pictures. Location was excellent been in front of the Trevi Fountain and breakfast is served with an view of it right next to where you are. Room had no TV stations in English which kept me isolated from world events, news, sports, etc. Staff was least friendly and courteous. "Great location but..."
I picked this hotel for a recent stay in rome due to the location, which did not disappoint. Breakfast overlooking the Trevi fountain was lovely. That stated, I would not recommend this hotel. The staff, while not rude, were not terribly accomidating. in addidition, our wake up call one morning came 45 minutes late, causing us to almost miss a reservation […] for a museum. The bathroom was also terrible. Toilet was in a cornder under a ledge, so the only way to sit on it was sideways, and leaning forward. The shower was a typically small european shower, but it had a curtain and not doors, so water flooded the bathroom floor. the adjustable shower head also would not stay up. "Great hotel in a great area"
We stayed at this hotel and found it very clean and convenient. For such an old building it's very well kept and the staff was great.. my ONLY small caviat is this... I booked a superior double room thinking that it overlooked the trevi fountain (that' what their website says) however, not all the superiour double rooms overlook the fountain. Other […] than that small detail, our room was great with a nice bathroom, room 302, VERY nice and one of the two largest bathrooms in the hotel. Plus air conditioning was a great suprise as it was HOT in Rome. The area is fantastic and we never had to go far for great food or drink. "Beautiful charming hotel with lots of character"
This hotel is located on the main pedestrian route through historic Rome, right opposite the Trevi fountain. I stayed here for five nights with my nine year old daughter. We were able to walk to many attractions for example, the pantheon, piazza navona, the spanish steps, and piazza de campidoglio. The continental breakfast was nice and the staff were pleasant, friendly and spoke English well. I would probably choose a bigger room, not facing the fountain next time as I was traveling with a child and we spent a lot of time in the hotel resting. The air conditioning worked really well which we truly appreciated as we come from a mild climate. Overall I would recommend this hotel but would probably choose a different room next time. Teniamos reservada una habitación con cama Quin y que salia en la información del hotel en internet,es más estaba pagada desde hacia 4 meses y al llegar al hotel nos quisieron enchufar la habitación más "cutre" del hotel la 104,cuando entramos nos fuimos a quejar en recepción y al cabo de un par de horas nos ofrecieron la que nos tocaba por el precio […] que habiamos pagado ,que no era poco.Tuvimos que quejarnos pero si cuela mejor para ellos.Esto me disgustó mucho pero se arregló al pasear por esta ciudad tan bonita y con tanta historia. "Flott "gammeldags" hotell - rett ved Trevifontenen"
Rommet var ganske trangt, og sengene var litt harde, men allikevel var det et rom med god atmosfære. Takhøyden, kappelakene, original parkett og de gammeldagse møblene gjorde at man følte at dette var et godt gammelt hotell. Og det var det nok også. Badet var lite, men rent og funksjonelt. "Hotel Fontana in Roma"
Hotel charmant che merita di essere visitato per la posizione e la vista dalla sala colazione; personale gentile;alcune camere sono veramente piccole e scomode; nessuna camera è dotata di frigobar; l'aria condizionata non esisteva nella mia camera come in altre; diversi televisori sono postbellici. Differenza di rapporto fra qualità e prezzo.

Première chose que je vois quand je me lève le matin et dernière chose quand je me couche : La Fontaine de Trevi. Ma-Gni-Fique !!!! Nous avons passé un séjour formidable. L'hôtel est très bien centré et le personnel sympathique et disponible. LE + le lounge du petit déjeuner. Quelle merveille de boire son café du matin avec la fontaine en paysage !

"Hotel Fontana, Aspettate la fine dei lavori"
Meravigliosamente esposto, peccato che ci sono dei lavori sul palazzo, l'albergo è ricoperto dalla struttura metallica per lavori, tutte le finestre chiuse. Dunque nessun interesse di prenotare la adesso, camere picole, certe persone scostante... Senza i lavori sarà affascinante per la vista.

Tyvärr finns det ganska otrevlig personal på hotellet och vi fick betala skatt när vi checkade ut trots att vi betalt via internet när vi bokade via Hotels.com. Ingen info ang att skatt skulle betalas vid utcheckning.

Et dejligt hotel, meget smagfuldt indrettet og med fin, central beliggenhed. MEN: hele hotellet er pakket ind i stillads og net, saa skodderne ikke kunne lukkes mere en kvart op og udsigten til fontaenen var nul. Desuden maatte vi have elektrisk lys selv ved hoejlys dag. Stilladset fjernes maaske til august.

Utrolig hyggeligt hotel, gammel stil og ikke spor tjekket! Ligger tæt på alt det, man vil se i Rom - og det at man går direkte ud i Trevi-fontænen er en speciel oplevelse. På trods af de mange besøgende døgnet rundt ved fontænen, mærkede vi ikke støj eller uro - ej heller gener fra ombygningen. Eneste kritikpunkt var betjeningen ved morgenmadsbuffeten! […] Noget træg personale, manglende opfyldning på fadene - man skulle være tidlig på færde for at få ordentligt brød. Men var man først til fadene, var morgenmaden super!! "Hyggeligt og perfekt beliggende hotel"
Vi havde et dejligt ophold på Hotel Fontane. Vi var velbemødt og fik et hyggeligt og romantisk værelse. Holder ligger perfekt i gåafstand til hele centrum, den Spanske trappe, Colloseum osv.. . Hyggeligt personale og der var rent og pænt overalt. Morgenmaden var lidt spartansk... men dejlig kaffe. Vi forventede gratis internet og kabeltv... men kabeltv […] virkede ikke..dog var de ved at lave det. Og vi fik at vide, at internet ikke var gratis. Exelente hotel, la ubicacion es inmejorable y la atencion de la gente del hotel es maravillosa, muy amables y serviciales. Las habitaciones no son muy grandes pero muy comodas y limpias com asi todo el hotel, antiguo pero muy bien mantenido.Volveria y recomendaria este hotel. Gracias
