Europa Gatwick Hotel - Crawley

My room was great, and it's really convenient for the airport but the hotel is showing it's age and desperately needs redecorated. The lift was appallingly smelly and the carpet needs replaced.

The hotel looks lovely outside, however, inside deco needs some renovation. We stayed for one night only and think that it was well for the money spent, so would recommend it to others.

For what we paid for our room it was ok the tv in our room had very few channels that you could watch, the breakfast was good overall, the hotel done the job for a one night stop over. The staff were good.

Room looking a bit tired, but very clean. Furniture a bit old. Breakfast, good selection. Altogether a satisfactory 1 night stay.

We made a special request for a pick up at the airport when we booked the room and got no confirmation back on the request. We then had to pay for a taxi to get us to the hotel. We asked the hotel why the pick up was not there and they replied that there is an airport shuttle bus, all we had to do was ask at the airport. Since there was no confirmation […] from the hotel regarding this, there was no way for us to know that we had to ask. We arrived at 10:05 am from the airport, the hotel restaurant closed at 10 am. We could not check into our room until 2 pm. Gatwick itself was a 30 minute drive away and the area of Crawley that the hotel was in, had next to nothing to offer. Our room had no heat in it what so ever. They did offer us a space heater that managed to warm the room up after an hour. The glass in the windows of the room was so thin that the traffic noise sounded like the windows were open all the time. We called the front desk to get a bucket of ice for a bottle of wine and were told to call room service, we called room service and they told us to call the bar, we called the bar and they told us to call room service. 30 minutes later and a walk down to the bar, we finally got a bucket of ice but had to do it our selves. Supper in the restaurant amounted to a buffet for L$12. The man who was supposed to be carving the meat was to busy delivering special orders to other tables to carve for more than one plate at a time. This left a constant line of 5 people standing waiting as much as 5 minutes to get a piece of roast beef. The wait staff, of which there where plenty of, all seemed to have something else to do besides serving the customers. We got one glass of water but got no refills at all, no offer for coffee, tea or otherwise. The meal cost was a little to much for what we got in the end. The place looked good when we first got there but add all of this up and it turned out to be one of the worst places we stayed after a 42 day, 8 hotel European holi Przeczytaj więcej

- Relatively good quality for the money spent. Room was ok but not fabulous. Beds too hard though. - Parking was a big problem as the hotel provides a possibility to park on their premises for a longer time (e.g. during a holiday abroad). They should concider a separate parking place for those long term customers who don't even stay at the hotel. - […] Food at the bar/restaurant only satisfactory. Actually very few options to choose from. - No accessable features even though some rooms could easily be remodeled and the entire ground floor is otherwise already accessable. So if you can manage a tub and narrow doors, the hotel is suitable even for people using a small wheelchair. There is a lift to the restaurant (even though it wasn't working for a couple of days). Poor! Car was broken into at the back of the hotel! Careful where you park it!! Hotel not interested!

This is a very bizarre hotel... on first arrival at 9 at night you would be surprised not to think it is full. The car park which is not properly surfaced goes all around the hotel. It took me half and hour to find a parking space. There is no visible restaurants in the vicinity only the hotel bar which serves limited food. It is good food if not a […] little bit small on its portion sizes. Be warned they like to close up the kitchens at 9.45 as you can imagine I almost had a barney with one off them since the parking to half an hour. The twin bedroom we were given was comortable enough although there was also a bunkbead inside so this would be ideal for families. If you're hoping for a nice shower then you need patience as the shower is mixer taps and as i know its not good for kids... TV was old style with 5 channels... we stayed overnight before an early morning flight. very comfortable room,with t making. we had a larger than expected bar snack. the shuffle service was good, though having to buy a return ticket when we were not returning was mildly annoying.altogether an enjoyable stay which we would do again for an early flight

Really great staff, receptionist really helpful and friendly, room was great. slept well !

WE find this hotel basic but good and clean. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. We have only eaten breakfast buthave found this to be hot, plentiful and a good choice.

Good value but no lamps in the room

There were signs of welcome refurbishment since we last stayed here. This hotel is very reasonably priced considering the inclusive car parking available. Even so the parking is haphazard on a look and find yourself basis. Unlike most other hotels in the area a charge is made for the airport shuttle only for the hotel - airport, nothing for airport […] - hotel. Turned up at the hotel and they said that they had no rooms left, despite having booked rooms 3 days previous. 6 people turned up after me and they were also told the same thing. Do not risk staying here book somewhere else.

Stayed in the "Britannia Lodge" which is advertised online as newly refurbished rooms. Only new looking item in the room was the flat screen TV but even that was covered in dust. Bathroom, unable to use shower due to the switching tool from tap to shower was broken/missing. Carpet stained in room and room/building had a stale odour of musty cigarettes. […] Most of the staff were not English, whilst this would not appear to be a problem, the bar staff were difficult to communicate with as they did not understand what a lemonade or ice was! This hotel is very good value for money with a fairly well maintained reception lounge, bar and restaurant. The rooms and hall way could do with some renovation however, it is ideal for people on a budget who need a get away. The surroundings are lovely with greens and fish ponds.

This is a clean and quiet hotel, with a welcome late food menu. However, the decor is tired and the beds too soft. I also did not feel that the staff were particularly welcoming. Fantastic hotel with lots of facilities and very confortable, good food for dinner and good breakfast with lots of choice. The room was too small, the bed especially was too small for 2 people.

We stayed here in order to leave the car here while we were away. The hotel was more than adequate for this, with comfortable rooms and a good shuttle service to and from the airport (surcharge). The only downside was that breakfast closed a little early (before 10am) and there are no cafes/shops close by from which to buy food.

I got more than what I paid for.

We arrived after a long drive and took half an hour to park. The room was dingy and tired with a rusty shower head and mould growing on the inside of the curtains. The TV only had four terrestrial channels, everything was very dated. Charged when using a credit card.

i went down on christmas week there was not enought parking and the staff did not care if you could not park there answer was to say park over the fire exit some people paid for the parking and where unable to park there cars

Very convenient hotel for being close to the airport and for offering the facility to park the car for the duration of the trip. Very good value for money. The room was very comfortable.

We had a Saturday night here in December 2011. The hotel had a pleasant seasonal atmosphere with several Christmas parties in the function rooms. Our room was in the Britannia Lodge adjacent to the main building. Unfortunately it was a cold, wet evening which meant we had to don coats to move from our room to and from the main hotel building. I think […] it is fair to say the the Lodge is in need of refurbishment SOON!! It looks and feels tired. The room was very compact with the double bed against one wall and only a foot of space at the bottom! The room was half the size of the modern room at the Premier Inn we stayed at the previous night. However the discounted room rate was the cheapest in the area for that night and all the facilities were adequate and clean. Parking was free. We had Dinner and Breakfast in the hotel and both were exceptionally good value. Booked on arrival at a discount rate the self-service carvery restaurant provided an excellent three course meal with no limit on how much one could eat. All courses were good quality. Breakfast was also self-service and had a good choice of food. Again it was very good value for money. Would we stay again? Suggest give info on Hotels.com about the times of buses from Gatwick to the hotel so people don't end up waiting for a long time standing in the open, very cold in my case. The buses interval times are quite long, up to an hour I believe. Unorganised... rude attitude from girl on the counter. Very freindly bar staff. Food ok. lost money on the last night booking as was too late to cancel as the girl on reception couldnt be bothered to check us in till last min and would even speak to us before then. Cheers!

The Europa is a good cheap hotel in a good location for Gatwick Airport or Crawley. The hotel has a friendly bar and restaurant area and a good gym and pool. Regular bus service to Gatwick - that costs £5 per person each way. Room in the main building a reasonable size with tv, hairdryer & tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel room was comfortable, parking the car easy, The food at the bar for an evening meal was very good, but a little expensive. The breakfast was very expensive and the quality was very poor, fried eggs were only available on request so by the time they were cooked the rest of the food had gone cold. The sausages were tasteless and over cooked […] and the bacon shrivelled. The coffee was bitter tasting, no decaff available. Sadly this had left us with some disdain at the begining of our holiday. the hotel is good but the walls are pretty thin! one with good ears can fully understand what's being spoken at the room next door. I was woken up by a woman walking in heels I honestly thought she was in my room. the food from the restaurant is nice! forget TV if you can't speak Spanish or Basque! the dual single beds is a bit annoying. my air conditioner […] wasn't working at all - perhaps because the main button was missing? one thing I loved about the room is the curtains set, it blocks the light like no other. you can't tell whether it's day or night outside. gorgeous! We stayed in the hotel while we were having some work done in our house so we were there for approximately 5 weeks. We found that staff quite helpful but the hotel is in a pretty bad state. There was mold in the bathroom and the wallpaper needed changing. Our card key would stop working every other day so we have had to go back and have it reprogrammed […] very often. Parking was very difficult, there were days when it took us up to 30 min driving around in order to find a place to leave the car. In saying that though, this was the cheapest place we could find so we did put up with all the annoyances. The hotel is pretty close to the airport, approximately 20 mins by shuttle bus and that made things easier. I don't think that I would recommend this to anyone going on holidays but it would be ok for someone who wants to stay on budget for a short period of time. Przeczytaj więcej

All resonable with the reception very helpfull a good and easy place to find off the A10 junction from M23 good bus servic to and from gatwick which is why we booked it Main problem was that the hotel wanted £2.00 for each credit card transaction so for us it would be £2 for dinner and £2 for transfer this is a scandle and I do not know how they can […] get away with it as bad as Ryanair Przeczytaj więcej

The hotel looks good from the outside but the rooms in the lodge were very small and the 'Double' bed was very narrow. We ended up 'Topping and Tailing' as it was almost impossible for two people to lie side by side. The room was clean but very tired. We only had a one night stay prior to catching an early morning flight out of Gatwick. The room was small but seemed clean enough, liked the freshly laundered duvet cover. Thought it was quite adequate for our needs and the price was reasonable.

The Europa is a hotel which seems to have more past than future. My room was shabby with a hugely unfomfortable bed and no hot water. There were hairs in the bath and only three channels on the TV. I repeatedly called and visited reception to get the hot water system sorted out and was eventually moved to a different room, but this took up much of the […] evening and was very frustrating. Parking is a particular challenge at this hotel as many people seem to use it as long-term parking for nearby Gatwick and so it can be almost impossible to find a space; in fact, I ended up parking on double yellow lines in the car park all night, after telling the manager that this is what I was going to be doing. Also very frustrating. I didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on food quality, but the menu was pedestrian and the restaurant did not look appealing. So to summarise I cannot recommend this hotel but if you do stay there... arrive early to get a parking space, check the room before accepting it if possible, and expect your car to be blocked in by morning. I thought the hotel was quite good. I was satisfied with the service that i received while i was there. There was only one little problem which was the food. They didn't have very many vegetarian dishes, it was mainly pasta. Other than that i thought it was pleasurable stay for me.

Quaint hotel with beautiful grounds and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms small but clean and comfortable. Showers didn't work very well but apart from that, it was a good room for the convenience of being close to the airport. Food was good and bar service good as well. Would recommend as a one or two night stopover for sure!

The night we came to stay not too far from Brighton was the Europa Gatwick hotel which was around 20 miles from Brighton,so a good location to stay as all the hotels in Brighton and surounding areas were fully booked. On arrival at the hotel we were very pleasently surprised at the appearance and the quality of the hotel. On check in the staff were […] very friendly and very willing to accomadate any request. The room was very comfortable and clean. This is a park, stay and fly hotel, with over emphasis on the parking. Fine if that is what you are doing, otherwise don't dare venture out after you arrive for fear of losing the one parking space that's left. The hotel is very run-down and it should be better reflected in it's pricing. The buffet service is terrible and drinks, including soft drinks, […] is of course EXTRA! Also, I don't know how the credit card companies feel about this, but I was really offended to have to pay an extra TWO POUNDS for the benefit of paying by credit card - like everyone, I always carry wads of cash when vacationing because it is so safe to do so!
