Although the room was clean everything is in desperate need of a refurb there, great location being just 3/4 stops from the centre of Rome and the whole reasonably comfertable and clean. Breakfast was standard but not the best! - Rome's version of a travelodge effectively... They will sting you 6 euro a night in tax's on top of everything also.

This Hotel is not in the center of Rome but one stop from the End of Line A metro. It only takes about 6 min to walk from the Cornelia Metro station and is easily commuted from Termini station, where your coach terminates from the Airport. It is used for conferences as well as a Hotel. Classed as a 4 Star Hotel which my wife and I consider to be correct. […] certainly our room was clean tidy and well kept by Hotel staff. We found the beds very comfortable and the room was very Quiet even with the windows open. We only ate in the Restaurant once but what we had was very nice and not a problem for the hotel staff even at 9.30 pm. The breakfast was fabulous, with just about everything imaginable to eat. Fresh breads, cheese, ham, fruit, bacon eggs, smoked sausage, tomatoes, yogurt, jams, fresh fruit juice and Dow Egberts coffee from the machine. We had a wonderful time at the Domus Mariae and would stay again. The setting is beautiful with parks all around and a very peaceful environment. The restaurant served delicious meals although selection is limited. The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning in our room but the windows do open to alleviate the stuffiness.

We went for honeymoon. It was a lovely hotel, very quiet and pleasing to the eye. Breakfast buffet was very nice with lots of veriety. We went out at 3pm before and when we returned the housekeppers had still done our room which we were impressed with. Had a lovely stay at this hotel - we were lucky and had one of the larger size twin bed rooms which was spacious, clean and had nice modern decor. (However the aircon had to be kept on full all the time as it was not very effective). The room was situated well away from the lift and stairs so we were not distubed by any noise. As it was my daughter's 14th birthday, I was a little disappointed with our initial room. Being a twin room I hoped it would be larger, spoke to the Reception staff. They were extremely helpful and understood. Although overrun with a conference, they still took time to take me to another room, although unsuitable. They changed my room the following […] day. The standard rooms are not the best but they are very comfortable. They could do with supplying a top sheet as well as a duvet as so hot at night. The air conditioning worked well and the marble type floor was cooling. I feel the room was above standard. It is not a new hotel, so this needs to be taken into account when booking, as rooms are not large, but the hotel itself is very large and impressive. All staff I met, from the Terrace cafeteria, reception, and even the cleaners were all very friendly, all smiled and all spoke to me and made me feel welcome. Shame there were no tea making facilities in the room but the staff were happy to supply me with a jug of hot water so I could make my own tea. The choice for breakfast was good, catering for most tastes. Perhaps the addition of some cooked tomatoes or mushrooms would have been good. We found the beds to be extremely firm and the lift was often unavailable (especially in the mornings as it appeared that housekeeping uses the same elevators). Just around the corner from the Metro, so easy to get to the center of Rome and all the sites (6 stops away from the Trevi Fountain, 4 from Vatican City). Pleasant hotel situated about a 30-35 minute walk from the Vatican, out of town along the Via Aurelia. It is on both the bus route & metro (line A). Although the hotel details give Cornelia as the nearest metro station, the twice we got off there (including on arrival, complete with cases) we got hopelessly lost! We found it far easier to get off at […] the previous stop, Baldo degli Ubaldi, as all 4 exits come out onto Via Aurelia so as long as you know to walk uphill (downhill is into town) the hotel is on the same road, the other side of the traffic lights at the main junction (on the left, past the shops and snack bar, then down a long driveway) - about a 12 minute walk. The hotel itself is set well back from the road, surrounded by gardens, so it is nice and quiet after the noise and bustle of the city. It is also a conference centre, although we only saw conferences there at the weekend (we stayed 6 days). The room was quite small, but perfectly adequate and clean. No coffee making facility in the room. We did have a problem with the aircon one night, but it was fixed by the time we came back the following evening (despite it being a Sunday). We found the reception staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is self service with a very good range to choose from - cereals, continental or bacon and scrambled egg. We arrived at the hotel with our tour group. We stayed 2 nights with the tour group, and then booked through Expedia for the rest of our stay (another 3 nights) Many in our group could not get into the room as the keys didn't work. Some are very nice and spacious, others are smelly and cramped. We liked the rooms on the 4th floor the best. The location is out of Rome beyond Vatican city. You can't really walk anywhere significant, but there is a Metro station just a very short, convenient walk from the hotel. Taking the metro, we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go. Also the hotel is in a park-like setting so after a busy day in downtown Rome, it is nice to come back to some green space. Also the food at the hotel was good and reasonably priced. The Grand Hotel Palazzo Carpegna is a beautiful hotel. The staff are polite and friendly, and the continental breakfast is great! The downfall? The hotel is not in walking distance of any historical sites, HOWEVER, the train is literally down the street. My husband and I paid 8 euro for an all day train pass. A cominciare dalle camere: spesso si è obbligati a prenotare due camere separate con tutte le limitazioni del caso. Qui abbiamo alloggiato in una suite che aveva il salotto attrezzato a divano letto (ampio e comodo) per i bambini che avevano tra l'altro la loro televisione. Wir haben ein Executive Zimmer gebucht und bei der Buchung um ein ruhiges Zimmer gebeten, da wir in vielen Kritiken gelesen haben, dass die Zimmer sehr hellhörig seien. Diesen Wunsch hat man uns erfüllt. Wir haben nichts von Zimmernachbarn oder den Reinigungskräften gehört, die in unseren Gang allerdings auch immer erst zur Mittagszeit gekommen sind. […] Wir hatten ein Eckzimmer mit zwei Fenstern, was sich bei den aktuellen Temperaturen zwecks Durchzug als sehr nützlich erwies! Die Klimaanlage alleine hätte diesen vermutlich nicht Herr werden können. Aber so war es ideal. Das Bett war sehr bequem - die Matratze nicht zu weich und es gab jeweils zwei Kissen (härter oder weicher - also für jeden Geschmack was dabei). Das Badezimmer hat nicht dem neuesten Standard entsprochen und die Dusche war sehr eng. Aber es war alles sehr sauber! Der Internetzugang hat abends leider nicht immer reibungslos funktioniert, allerdings erst als einige Reisegruppen eingetroffen sind und das Hotel voller wurde. Wahrscheinlich haben sich zu viele gleichzeitig eingeloggt. War für uns aber kein Drama. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr umfangreich und es wurde auch ständig neu aufgefüllt.
