The hotel overall is nice. Our room was clean and very spacious which we were happy about. The bed was large and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was good. There were hot items which I was happy about such as eggs, bacon and waffles. The only thing I did not like about this hotel was the surrounding neighbourhood. […] It is very industrial and dangerous looking. Our taxi driver warned us not to walk anywhere at night because of how rundown the neighbourhood is. One more thing I did not like was that there is no complimentary shuttle from Penn Station. Free wi-fi, free parking and very comfortable rooms. The breakfast is ok, good for the price. It is a 3 blocks from Burger King and a walking distance from other restaurantes. The rooms were clean but the cleaning lady was too fast cleaning the rooms, sometimes she left dirty the carpet, she should vaccum the rooms. I thought this hotel was a great value. I drove in from the Newburgh area and it was easy to get to. The room was comfortable, the continental breakfast was great, and the staff was professional. I asked for a map of the local area (NJIT and Rutgers campuses) and I got a great detailed map in which I used to walk to both campuses. It is right on Maccarter […] Hwy which is a very busy street. By far the cleanest hotel in Newark. Stayed there five - six times in the last five years. Free parking (sort of rare for Newark airport area motels), an OK breakfas (free)t, and excellent front desk service. I stayed at this hotel last week. Because of the rate i paid online I wasn't looking for a 5 star hotel. I stayed with a friend, we were quite shocked at what the hotel offered. It was like being in Hilton! Staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. The hotel had everything, internet, very tasty breakfast, infact it offered more than it was advertised […] for . excellent location as well. chinese food and 7/11 were around the hotel. we couldn't believe it. will definitely use again when around New York. If you want to stay in Newark it is O.K. We wanted to get on the Garden State the next day and it took quite a while to get there. I would rather stay closer to the the Garden State if possible. Comfort Inn has a very good breakfast. The rooms are a bit dingy but adequate.

I loved this hotel, me and my husband went there to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. the rooms were very spacios the staff was polite. they served a complimentary breakfast as well. Me and my Husband had a great time.

I normally don't say anything bad about a hotel if it's reasonably good. However, this Comfort Suite is terrible in terms of service. I have to leave this message to let you know! After the first day of stay, we found the maid didn't make the sofa bed. The sofa bed was still messy as it was the second morning. And no new shampoo or conditioner or towels […] provided the second day. The only trace I know the maid had been in the room was that the two queen beds were made. Besides this, the most horrible thing is that the pillowcases smell!! They smelled like they were used a long time and never washed them clean! Because we reserved for 5 nights, I have no choice but using one of my shirts to cover the pillowcase! Then I thought maybe we should leave tips for the maid so she can give new supplies for shampoo, conditioner, towels, and even change the disgussting pillowcases. So I left tips starting our second day and every day of rest of our stays. However, everything still remained no change except she made the sofa bed. But what about all supplies we need? And the pillowcases still smelled!! OMG, my husband then went to the front desk personally to ask for more shampoo and conditioner. Then we finally got them! In general, we didn't have too many choices there because we were going to New York during our stays. Otherwise, we would have changed to another hotel. I had to sign a document saying that I was staying in a smoke-free room and that I won't smoke in the room. But when I went into my room, it stank with cigarette smoke. The walls had recently done patch work that was not yet covered. It just looked dingy for the price we paid. This hotel was amazingly inexpensive for the location. Not, perhaps, the nicest neighborhood but a very quick, easy drive into Manhattan. The room was very large and clean and the complimentary breakfast, featuring fresh fruit, make your own waffles, juices, tea, coffee, sausage, oatmeal, toast, bagels and pastries, was a pleasant surprise. Vacationing with my family of four from Canada and planned to stay in Newark and spend days in Manhattan. Initially, it seemed that the neighbourhood wasn't the best area, however, was within walking distance of the Broad Street Station. we read all the reviews that everyone wrote , after we purchused are stay, we were alittle nervous about are stay and area we would be in , we arrived really late they were nice to let us go to our room and have breakfast at that time,there are homeless people but no one bothers you , bus/subway is only 4 blocks to the left ,easy access to everything […] ,2 teens my sister an I , traveled to new york everymorning and back in the evening no problems on any subway ,get the MTA card saves money an time can use on buses also, learn to read a route map before you go makes everything easier,have fun!!!! we will be back , first timers stayed 8/21-24/11 Przeczytaj więcej

The first room I had was filthy, there were burned out light bulbs. The next room was better, but not as clean as it should have been. The neighborhood was "rough," I was warned to stay inside after dark. The front desk seemed confused when I requested a new room and said the light bulbs were out. It was frustrating. I will not stay there again.

This hotel was clean and the service was great. Breakfast was hot and good. Wish we had known the location better as the surrounding area is a bit undesirable especially for visitors from out of the country. Only a mile and a half from Penn Station and 22 inutes form the WTC site station.

Although not located in the best neighborhood, this hotel overcomes this through good hotel/parking design and sound security policies. For the price this hotel stay was an outstanding value.

Overall, my stay was great! Breakfast on the house, just get it early... My bed was made daily and towels were exchange... All belongings were still there too awesome!!! Would def go there again!

I had good experience at this Comfort Suites Newark between 7/9-7/23. The staffs were very nice and helpful to customers. Whenever I needed something, they always provided me excellence assisstance. I had such a good time while staying there.

There are a few problems with this hotel, first of all, the service at the front desk needs improvement...I don't believe those workers have must experiences in customer service...you need to smile people! and learn how to greet customer!!..but they were very helpful. The room was clean for a 3 star hotel but it smelled like smoke..we asked for another […] room but the guy at the front told us that all rooms were booked..but at least he tried. We visit Manhattan for 3 days in a reasonable budget. The hotel is in a good lucking condition, free parking, and in a 20 min walking distance to the "light rail train", or $8 taxi to the same place. The train go to the middle of Manhattan in 40min and one way ticket is only $1.75 in a safe, clean and comfortable way. In Manhattan the insight parking […] is $10 for 30min. or $3 for 10min in the street. The location of the hotel is not to spend the time around there, because is in a industrial area, but is safe for what we have seen. The room was large with 2 very comfortable queen size beds, nice bathroom , little fridge, coffee machine, good powerful A/C with wall thermostat that works, TV, telephone. The back side of the building was very quiet. In the morning, from 6-10, they have breakfast buffet and it was included and enough variety. They may need to install a second bread toaster. In the hallway are snack, drinks and ice machines and they keep large coffee thermos distributors filled up all day in the dinning area. This hotel was pleasantly nice. The free breakfast was ok. Great for overnight stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Take out restuarants deliver late at night.

May be I'm used to better neighborhoods....but the area this hotel was in was a plain dump. May be it felt worse coz we entered from downtown Newark side. As we entered the gates of the hotel, it felt like a totally different place. The hotel's great. Loved their Orange Pekoe tea. If you find urself staying in this place, I suggest you take the route […] away from Newark downtown. If u're going to Manhattan, take the lincoln tunnel route (not holland tunnel). Excellent room for the price. The surrounding area was not the best, but we had no problems. Convenient location to nice areas. Clean rooms, relativly quiet, and VERY comfy bed. I recommend if you're just looking for a great place to sleep while exploring the area.

I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical due to reading other reviews but overall I was very pleased with my 3 night stay (T-W-TH) at this hotel in early June and I would stay here again. The room was comfortable and clean but I noticed that the shower curtain rod was a bit loose and sagged in the middle (but this was the only thing I could even […] find but not worth complaining about). There was a mini-refrigerator and microwave in the room which was useful. I was on the top (3rd) floor and the only vending and ice machine was on the first floor. My room was absolutely quiet but also on the east/river side of the hotel. The staff was not overly friendly but polite. The included breakfast was nice with eggs and either ham, bacon or sausage (I believe they rotated the meat each day). Bread, bagels and muffins were also available. They had one toaster and a single, waffle maker but no sugar-free syrup set out. Hard boiled eggs, yogurt and cream cheese for the bagels were refrigerated. There was iced water, milk and orange juice as well as tea and coffee for drinks. About 3 varieties of cereal, instant oatmeal and apples, bananas and oranges available. I packed a bagel sandwich for lunch along with an apple. My first day I decided to use the public transportation feature of my phone map app to travel into NYC, so I walked about 5 minutes west and waited for a bus (I was somewhat uncomfortable walking alone through this neighborhood). The buses did not arrive at the same time indicated on my phone and I ended up walking further south to catch another bus. About 30 minutes later I finally caught a bus (once I figured out I needed to wave to the bus for it to stop) and took it to the Newark Penn Station. From here I could grab the Path train to either 33rd street in Manhattan (with a transfer) or directly to the World Trade Center station. I liked that the hotel was clean, and the staff was very polite. They also offer a good beakfast.

We were visiting the city for a Yankees game, and booked 3 rooms for one night. We arrived two hours before the check-in time, but they allowed us to put our luggage in the room even though the cleaning personnel was not finished so that we may be able to go into the city.
