The Cavalier Oceanfront - Virginia Beach

Still consider it the "NEW" Cavalier but it has obviously been there longer than I realized. Nice people, room was fine, view was nice, it just needs some major sprucing up. With work it could be very nice.

This hotel provided us with one of the best stays we have ever had at VA Beach. The room was clean, had a microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot, hairdryer and nice chairs for the balconey. The hotel is a block or so from the boardwalk, so it would be ideal in the summer months to avoid some of the noise/crowds if you want a quiter place to stay.Check in […] time was 3pm but we arrived much earlier and they allowed us to check in early. To be brief. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had my ipad 2 stolen out of my room with no signs of a break in. Staff was responsive and supportive. The room did not have a safe in it which in this case ended up costing me about $800. If I return for a stay I will not leave any valuables in the room when I am not in the room.

Rooms are not sound proof. Walls are shallow. Very noisy.

The only problem for me was not the hotel itself. The one thing I did not like is that the boardwalk does not come down to the back of the hotel.

The front desk staff were very efficient and friendly. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. Very relaxing and pleasant stay! I will definitely return in the future.

The Cavalier definitely has some fine points. The desk service and valet staff were excellent. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The balacony views were beautiful. The only negative things I would note are that the sliding glass door was broken and would not lock. And, the balacony are VERY close to your neighbors as in reach out and touch them […] close. I was looking for a last minute getaway and this fit he bill perfectly! It was clean and the staff was courteous and friendly. I would stay again!

The hotel is situated well and had a few nice amenities. However, several issues left us with a poor taste in our mouths. The air conditioning unit runs continuously, is very loud and does not adjust its operation for room temperature. Our return to our room on the second day after a good day on the beach found our room in the same state in which we […] left it...no maid service. A call down to the desk was of little relief as we were just simply offered a few towels. No offer was made to fulfill our expectation of our room being serviced each day. So we had to manage with old towles, full trash bins and unstocked supplies. Thirdly, if you want to park where you are staying, you must pay an additional fee to stay on the primary lot or park at another hotel site a block away. You can also valet park instead. We stayed a week at the Cavalier Oceanfront hotel and it was great. Just far enough off the boardwalk to be away from the noise but close enough to walk to all the activities on and off the boardwalk. We saw more dolphins from our hotel balcony than we did on the boat ride. We had a great view of the fireworks. The staff and facilities were great. This hotel has very old furniture,my bathtub had rust, the air in the room was damp. I had to have maintenance come fix the shower. The beds were uncomfortable. They seriously are in need of renovations!! The location and customer service was great but that was about it..I would not recommend this hotel.

Wasn't very clean, but was acceptable. Great place for kids because of outdoor pool area with basketball court. Room decor was terrible.

We were very happy with our stay at the Cavalier. If I would change anything it would be a more affordable breakfast buffet. And we also did get our GPS stolen out of the car because the parking lot was full at the new part so we had to park across the street at the "original Cavalier". But overall it was a pleasant stay.

We were very fortunate to get a reservation at the Cavalier at this time of year. Our first stay at the at the hotel, we selected this hotel because of its location in relation to our planned activities. We were surprised with all the Cavalier offered, and liked the family atmosphere. The nice surprise was the excellent breakfast buffet that was available […] on a weekday. to check in is very quick that the way should great !!! good hotel the one thing it is a little far from the main attraction but i will recommend !

We had a great time, the hotel was a pleasant surprise. We would definitely recommend it to anyone. The resterant was clean cozy and well staffed. We will definitely be returning to the Cavalier when we are in Virginia Beach.

We were very pleased with the hotel and our stay. From the check-in staff, valets, maids, restaurant waiters, all were very pleasant to deal with, friendly, eager to help. The only negatives were the french toast and waffle for meals. But the buffet was good. The biggest negative were the showers used after the beach. 1st: Even though my booking at the Cavalier Hotel included free Valet parking, the counter staff at the hotel demanded $7.50 per night for Valet parking. I opted for the free parking accross the street. 2nd: Upon entering our assigned room, we were greeted by a very strong odor (like a strong bug spray) which forced us to hold our breath and run to […] the corridor and down to the hotel reception where we got a different room just across the first smelly room. 3rd: While holding conversation with the hotel staff, I found out that I had an option to stay in the historic and most beautiful building which was located less than 400 yards from our current location.The counter staff checked the availability of rooms in that historic building and told me that all rooms were already booked. However, I immediately walked to the historic building and to my surprise I found out that there were plenty of rooms are still vacant. Honesty?? We came here not knowing what to expect because the rate was better than the other lower end hotels. We found a beautiful side view to the beach, clean and fresh room and the staff was great. The best part was waking up in the morning having our coffee out by the beach watching the dolphins. Thanks for the great time. We will be back.

This is a nice hotel. Nothing special but nice. Having been built in the 1970s, it doesn't appear to have had any substantial upgrades and the interior is not as nice as some of the new hotels sporting a chain's name. It's "comforts" are the good-sized outdoor pool adjacent to the beach and a semi-private beach. (The hotel is on the far north end of […] Virginia Beach away from the other hotels, the concessions, and the day-trippers.) The sister hotel, "The Cavalier on the Hill" dates to the beginning of the 1900's and is a classic old grande dame that has seen it's better days. Overall, it is a safe bet and a good value in Virginia Beach. Parking is frustrating. The hotel doesn't have the property to accommodate all of the cars necessary in one parking lot. Parking across the street at the "Cavalier on the Hill" is free but a trek; valet parking at the beach hotel is free but you have to wait for a valet to sprint across the street to retrieve your car; and, to dissuade patrons from parking in the local lot, they charge $7.50/day. While the valet service is great ... the moral issue of tipping the valets becomes an issue: tip them appropriately and jou might as well spring for the $7.50/day. :-( Przeczytaj więcej

Perfect location not on but very accessible to board walk and many places to eat. We were close enough to ride our bikes to the State Park as well as the board walk. The shuttle bus was just across the street. Nice hotel, friendly staff, good restaurant. We will be back.

VERY noisy! Very difficult to sleep with so much activity in the hallway and no soundproofing. Shower was completely stopped up.

The hotel was in a great place. Grounds are kept beautiful. Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed the room and the staff were wonderful

We were not thrilled with the room because it smelled moldy however we were there to enjoy the beach and the sun. It served its purpose.

The hotel was great; comfortable and convenient. It's at the end of the strip so if you want to be in the middle of the night life, this isn't it. There are 3 showers coming off the beach to clean up. There is a pool near the beach. There is a wide, grassy area to use if you get tired of the sand. Check-in is 4pm, we rolled in at 11am and just wanted […] to get our parking pass so we could use the beach until check-in. They let us check-in 5 hours early which was fantastic. The staff was young and not very personable. Our room had an odd odor at it appeared that vinegar had been sprayed on the walls but not wiped off. This hotel is located at the end of the boardwalk. The beach access was very convenient and located next to residential area but a diff hotel would've been better for eating and shopping.

While this is an old hotel the room were renovated, bathroom in particular, and every thing was kept clean. And you can't beat the location right on the beach.

Great location,right across from the bus service, short walk to the beach.The hotel staff could not have been friendlier. I reguested more towels,and think they arrived within 3 minutes. Nice pool, and fun bands playing during the day when we were there.

Room was claustrophobic! Advertised to sleep 5 but much too small for that. That being said, the view was great and the outdoor restaurant, bar and beach rental options were very good!

Great facility for a hotel. Was offering a camp for kids. Has a nice pool, indoor/outdoor bars/icecream shop, gift shop, walk right on to the beach, tents for shade, rental booth. Only complaint was sliding glass door would not lock, but being on the 6th floor we did not care.

We were very surprise with this Hotel. It was so clean, people all so nice! so comfortable! I will go to this hotel again and recomended to my friends. Well located, excellent view. We have the time of our lifes.

Overall, was satisfied with the quality of the hotel. Location was 1 block North of the Boardwalk and was accessible. Pools were nice and had plenty of space for my family of 4 (two kids under 3 yrs old). Customer service was good, and attendants helping with loading and unloading vehicles were very helpful. Found activities for kids 4 and over, so […] I can't comment on that. Restaurant staff were good, and menu choices were about average. What I did not like was a charge for parking at the hotel itself (during my stay - $7.00 / day) but parking across the street and a parking valet were free. Rooms were not as soundproof as I am used to - heard my child inside the room, when I was halfway down the hall. Also heard a child in the next room, but this did not bother us - kids will be kids and we expected that at a 'family friendly' hotel. Let us check-in early, at 7am. Very comfortable, clean, and family friendly. The ONLY thing I had a problem with was having to pay for use of the surrounding parking lot, which I did not do. Not enough to keep me from returning. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable vacation.

Hotel is very nice and clean. We were there for just one night, but had a very nice stay. It is located near the north end of the "strip", so not as many restaurants and shopping and traffic in immediate area (not a bad thing for relaxing and enjoying the beach). Neptune park is about 11 blocks south. We highly recommend Catch 31 restaurant at 31st […] and Atlantic Ave, pricey but worth it.
