Winchester Royal Hotel - Winchester

Hotel godny polecenia, choć w bardzo Brytyjskim stylu, niektórym może nie odpowiadać. Dla mnie dogodne położenie w samym centrum, cicho i ispokojnie. Polecam.

The staff was very friendly and food was fine; the location is excellent.

If you want to explore Winchester this hotel is in a perfect location. It has a great pub opposite as well as being in walking distance of the Cathedral and town. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.

Tired - very tired. Reminds me of a run down English south coast hotel. Fundamentally clean but in a 70's time warp and needing refreshment by decoration, new beds and new bathrooms.

Lovely, friendly staff, perfect location for all Winchester has to offer. Would definitely stay again!

I have stayed here twice before and enjoyed it. This Saturday we came back mid-evening and the restaurant was full (which we knew) but we had planned to eat in the bar. However on return they had decided to close the bar for food. They offered to call in a takeaway for us (!). We wandered arounf the district but restaurants were closing. This hotel has become very down at heels. It needs renovation. The heating in my room did not seem to work. The staff however were very friendly and helpful.

Very pleasant if slightly threadbare and in a superb location with decent parking right in the heart of Winchester. Definitely recommended.

Very nice, we had a lovely view of the courtyard. Kind of like staying at your grandma's house; creaky floors, almost shabby mismatched furniture, floral wallpaper, but in a cozy comfy way. We enjoyed our stay very much, would definitely recommend!

Agree pretty much with previous reviews. Great location, free parking, reasonably-priced (for a hotel) bar meals &.drinks on a pleasant garden terrace and comfortable spacious rooms (in new part). But bathroom and room had not been properly cleaned, and seriously creaky floors on first and ground floor corridors were intrusive especially at night. Staff […] friendly and helpful. Nice location, plenty of car parking, nice balance of character and modern convenience apart from the pronounced slope in the bedroom floor which meant sleeping on a distinct slope....and sleeping would have been helped by anything approaching soundproofing in the rooms!

A comfortable hotel but in need of a thorough refurb in the older part of the hotel. Too many stair carpets threadbare - and I've never been in a room with such a creaky floor!

Very close to city sights. Comfortable hotel but would benefit from some updating. There was a dog in near by room that spent a lot of time barking. Poor thing! Excellent food.

The hotel was easy to find. Check-in was a little slow, but that was because the staff were being very patient with an old gentleman who wanted to change his dinner booking. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The room was spacious although the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were rock hard. The bathroom could do with redecoration, mouldy in places. Ample car parking. This is an old hotel in the classic style in the centre of Winchester, with the cathedral a short walk away. I had a roomy, comfortable, bright room, with a large separate bathroom with natural light. Continental breakfast in the elegant old-style dining room overlooking the grounds was very pleasant. Great base for a visit to Winchester. Slightly old fashioned hotel but clean, comfortable, lovely garden, very good value for money. Group of friends meeting up, worked very well being able to just wander into the town. We ate in the hotel restaurant, good choice of menu, food very nice and reasonably priced, service on the slow side but we were not […] worried as busy chatting! All staff helpful and friendly. Nice to sit in the garden to have a drink or coffee. For the price we paid we were all very satisfied and would recommend to others looking for reasonably priced city centre accommodation. The hotel is located right in the centre of town. It is very much a character hotel with lovely gardens and friendly staff. It is a little old fashioned and the evening meal arrangements were a bit odd and the dining room very quiet. Breakfast was much more atmospheric, good buffet food and efficient service.

Good location, pretty garden (we went in summer) but hotel in need of up-dating and redecorating. The long narrow corridor to our room smelt musty and stale and made you feel that it wasn't clean. The standard room was adequate, did not get to see superior rooms. Only a minute away from good high street shops and about five minutes walk to Winchester […] cathedral. A nice hotel within 100m of high st. A old style hotel witch I found quite nice.It has a nice closed in garden.

The situation, car parking on site & gardens were a delight; unfortunately, the standard of service let the place down. A crowd of well meaning young people who worked hard but were not effective. Received a warm welcome at the hotel and couldn't fault it. We had a view over the lovely garden and the bed was very comfortable. Quite atmospheric as it was an old building. Didn't eat in the restaurant but breakfast was varied and plentiful. Homemade rolls a particular plus.

Skönt att få uppleva ett gammaldags hotell utan hotellkedjornas standardiserade koncept. Eftersom jag gillar mindre hotell med personlig touch passade hotellet mig utmärkt. Maten var helt ok och servicen likaså. Saknade dock hårtork på rummet. Underbar trädgård varsamt skött av trädgårdsmästare att njuta i om våren, sommaren och hösten.

Hotellet har en meget fin beliggenhed for seværdiheder og en meget nydelig have, men hotellet er meget slidt og træt og trænger gevaldigt til en opdatering. Kun noget af personalet er venligt, nogen direkte uvenlige. Servicen i restauranten er dårlig, men maden ret fin

En plein centre de la ville historique, à 2 pas de la cathédrale et de la jolie promenade ombragée le long de la rivière Itchen, cet hôtel est néanmoins parfaitement calme et isolé des bruits de la circulation. Agréable salle à manger donnant sur le jardin, et très bon petit déjeuner-buffet. Parking de l'hôtel un peu petit (rançon du succès) mais bien […] pratique.
