"not a great stay"
got there and there was a car with the windshield broken in the parking lot. hotel service was good but the rooms are way small, tv remote has tape to keep batteries in, toilet didnt flush well, and shower water was luke warm.. "ROOM NOT LIKE PICTURE"
Our room did NOT look like the picture at all. The picture showed a very nice clean room, very bright, with elegant type bedding. The description even said that the rooms were updated. This was not the case. When we seen our room we were so disspointed. The bedding did not look at all like the picture; it looked like bedding from 1960. The carpet was […] nasty, the room stank, and the lighting was dark, NOT at all bright like the picture. The bath tub was dirty. The staff was friendly, but they didn't seem to welcoming and letting us know about where to go for breakfast and things like that. We had to ask about everything. We didn't even eat the breakfast. "Below standard"
Visited the Columbia area for a Volleyball tournament 2-11 and booked last minute accommodations through hotels.com. Booking was very easy and fast and the price of the hotel seemed great. Upon arrival, the hotel was not located in a great area and our view from the window of our room was the back of some junky building/store. We were just going to […] get a good nights sleep and go to the tournament first thing in the morning, so location wasn't a big deal. The carpet was fairly worn and stained up. The beds looked nice, but when my daughter climbed in to go to bed, she said there was sticky stuff on the sheets. I didn't look to see what it was, didn't want to know, yuck. It was really late and we had to get up really early in the morning, so we just pulled the sheets off of the bed and put down the top sheet from our bed so they could sleep. Their ad says breakfast included, but it wasn't much of a breakfast. Basically all they had were waffles and cheerios. Since waffles were the only thing available, you had to wait in a long line to be able to use the 1 waffle iron that they had. Maybe I am just used to the breakfast that you get at Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn, this was nothing like that. Although the price was good, we won't be returning to this location, mainly because of the dirty sheet issue, that is just nasty!! I own a property management company here in Myrtle Beach and know that you have to change the sheets after every rental whether you think they have been used or not, you can't guess because this is what happens. "Nice hotel. Great location."
Clean, comfortable, no frills hotel minutes from dozens of restaurants and shops. For the money, you can't beat this place.

I have stayed in several Microtel locations and none of them was as poorly maintained as this property. The sheets were dirty with food found under the spread. I requested that the sheets be changed but they moved things around to make appear as if someone had cleaned up when in reality nothing had been cleaned or replaced. This hotel was convenient to where we needed to be all weekend. It was right off of I-26. The room was very clean and had some of the special touches you mainly see in very expensive hotels. The people at the hotel were very nice and helped me any way they could to make my stay nicer. but other then that i booked on hotels.com and apparently, according to the manager at the front desk, the room that i book was not available because hotel.com has a tendency of approving reservations of rooms that are not available. I had booked a nonsmoking […] room but once i got there they said that there were none left and i got stuck in a smoking room and i woke up every morning with a splitting headache every morning because of it. "Microtel in Columbia SC"
We had to change rooms because the airconditioning did not work in the first room. The toilet would not flush in the morning in the second room. The continental breakfast was just bagels and there were no vending machines for drinks.

Our neighbors were fighting literally a man slamming a woman and yelling. The people across the hall looked like they were running a drug operation. If I wouldn't have pre paid I would have left smh!

"Cigarette Burns EVERYWHERE!"
Smells like cigarettes everywhere, and there were cigarette burns everywhere! The comforter smelled like stale cigarettes and hadn't seemed to have been washed recently and the cable went out, so we were unable to watch anything on the 15 inch tv. :-(
"This Hotel is Getting Old"
The rooms were very small and did not look like the pictures. The air conditioning blew right on the bed and was too cold when it was on, and then the room got too hot when it cut off. The walls were pretty thin judging by the parties going on around me when I was trying to sleep. I also had to look on all 3 floors to find an ice machine that worked. "Mediocre Hotel, Great Staff"
Some updates in process (tile regrouting and furniture moving around) made our stay a bit less comfortable, plus there was a persistent mildew smell, BUT the management and housekeeping staff all were friendly and extremely helpful. The location is not great for downtown/University, but is close to a large shopping area.

The room smelled like smoke and mold. We got to the hotel late so we figured it was to late to cancel for the night, so we tried to tough it out until morning, Around 3:30 in th morning, a huge spider made its way down a web right in front of the TV. That was the last straw. We were check out by 4.

The hotel is nice enough for the price you pay I guess. DO NOT GET A SMOKING ROOM ! The room was dirty no wait, it was disgusting beyond belief. There were all these red spots of what looked like blood on the wall I couldn't believe that the maid did not see that. "Misrepresented"
Comforter was dirty, sheets had stains, room had a large space where a bed used to be, tobacco was on the floor, behind fridge was dirty, & parking lot was an eye sore.
This was a filthy dirty hotel...the floor was so dirty my socks turned black, the mattress had holes in it, the sheets were so thin that the appeared dirty. I was in a non smoking room that had been smoked in originally. Cigarette smoke came in all night long . The breakfast was a joke.
