Hotel Monaco Chicago, a Kimpton Hotel - Chicago

Ask for a room with a river view and window seat. We loved lounging and watching the world pass by. They offer coffee in the morning along with a hot chocolate bar with all of the fixings: marshmallows, chocolate chips, whip cream and bacon! Staff was consistently friendly and upbeat. Kids can't wait to go back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, front desk very accomodating - had king suite and double room, asked for them to be on same floor, and receptionist offered to make them adjoining, so the 2 bedrooms could share the living room - perfect for a family or friends situation. We've been staying at the Hotel Monaco since the first year it opened when our children were small. Now we have grandchildren that have become part of the tradition. My grandson loved sleeping in the window sill. Accommodations are lovely and the service is great.

This is the best hotel I have stayed in Chicago! The service was fantastic and the location was perfect. We had a room that faced the river which ofered great views if the city. The in room humidifier was a much welcome addition to our room and free of charge. Also free of charge are bath robes and a gold fish (if you choose). Great - however since we booked thru hotels.com the Hotel would not let us accumulate more Kimpton points. I thought that was pretty lame since we got a discount thru hotels.com normal programs did not apply. Lobby smaller than expected, in house restaurant the South Water Kitchen was very good. The location is excellent.

I don't usually take time to write reviews but I thought it was necessary after our recent stay at the Monaco Hotel. Let me break this into a couple of categories: * Cleanliness - I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the hotel was kept. The lobby, hallways, elevators, and our room were always clean during our stay. * Convenience - The hotel is perfect […] walking distance to Millennium Park, Magnificent Mile, and restaurants/shopping just North of the river. * Customer Service - This is where this hotel really shines. When we arrived at the hotel we arrived much earlier than check-in. No problem, they took and held our bags (at no charge) and off we went. When we returned and went to our room we were called almost immediately upon arrival at our room by the Manager to ensure everything was in order for us. Later when we left the hotel and we returned from dinner we were greeted with a Bottle of Champagne on ice and a nice card congratulating us on one year of marriage. Even the next morning we received a couple of chocolates wrapped inside of an elephant made out of wash clothes. Special Benefits - This hotel has window seats in each window. Not little ones but BIG seats (think twin bed) that allow you to sit and relax alone or together while looking out over the city. I'm not a big reader or a person who sits but the window seat was a really nice perk. Downside - If there are any downsides it is the fact that you hear a lot of street noise and sirens and you only have valet parking at $48 / day. Was one of the best deals on the website at the time for a King size bed in downtown (the loop) Chicago area. Good location for vacationing and walking around downtown. Definitely was not as grand as some of the hotels, but great service, friendly staff, nice free wine and hot cider to warm up your cold evening, and a great value for the money.

We stayed in a Mediterranean suite, which was a little more expensive but worth it after a day out exploring the city. Room was comfy and quiet with an enormous bath tub! The staff were polite and helpful. Complimentary coffee in the mornings was a nice touch. The bar and restaurant is convenient if you don't want to go out to eat, but there are endless […] restaurants ranging from inexpensive to pricey nearby. Only complaint was the billing... Our bill included a mini-bar charge, despite not touching ours (we didn't even know we had one) although that was remedied when I challenged it. But a single 90 second long-distance phone call ran us 9 dollars after our calling card stopped working... Which left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe that's the norm in the USA - but I consider that sort of pricing just shameful. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a bit of luxury... But stay away from the extra charges! This hotel offers very nice rooms with an excellent view. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone interested staying in the River North area.

This was our first time at the Hotel Monaco and we weren't disappointed. The location was excellent, well within walking distance of Michigan Avenue, State Street and Millennium Park. The Trump Tower is also just over the road - a useful landmark if you get lost!. The room was stylishly decorated and we LOVED the enormous windowsill that you could sit […] in and people-watch - a real bonus. Everything was very clean and the shower was excellent (my pet peeve is bad water pressure in hotels!). The staff were friendly and helpful, room service was prompt and we had a really good meal at South Water Kitchen, the restaurant downstairs. Rooms are wonderfully decorated. Staff is outstanding. Love the leopard robes and the complimentary goldfish in your room upon request. My #1 choice of Chicago hotels. Love it!

so easy to get anywhere in the city this hotel is very comfortable, convenient and friendly. Sharing a double queen oom with my mom we both had lots of space and the beds were very comfortable. Would recommend to anyone!

There are so many cute and charming things about this hotel. The rooms are decorated so well, and this last visit we were in a deluxe King on the top floor that had this wonderfuly unexpected large window seat. They also offer a very nice complimentary wine reception in the evenings. And there is a restaurant attached to the hotel that has a great breakfast […] menu. This is a very nice hotel in a great location. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean and inviting and the decor is very clever. If I had any complaint, it's that the television channel selection is somewhat limited. No History channel or Discovery channel, for example, but that is a fairly minor complaint.

The river view windows are really lovely with large window seats to watch the bridges, boats, people and eveything else out there on the river edge.

Great location, Friendly staff with excellent service. Rooms nicely appointed and clean. The daily 5 to 6pm wine reception was a nice touch - great way to mingle with fellow vacationers and share Chicago tourist tips.

We lucked out finding the hotel Monaco for our recent trip to Chicago. We selected a river view room and spent long mornings will room service in the ample-sized window seat. Many attractions are waking distance including millennium park, the magnificent mile, and a number of great restaurants. We'll be back!

the Monaco is always a treat not just for our 2 French Bulldogs but for us as well! Great location close to the River walk and tons of great restaurants and shopping. Won't stay anywhere else in Chicago!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The exercise room was under repair bit they gave us free access to LA Fitness which was a great facility. Unless you want a view of a brick wall, I suggest you call ahead and request a room with a nice view. The concierge was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed all of his suggestions.

Stayed there for one night and it was great. First off Peter who helped us with our bags could not have been more helpful and considerate. He is a great asset to the hotel, that is the type of person you want to see after a long drive, great guy. We chose to stay at the Mediterranean Suite and I could not have asked for a nicer room. The suite is composed […] of two rooms and a bathroom with a two person Jacuzzi. The room had deep Windows and "pillows" on them so that you can sit in the Windows and look out, awesome. Location was great, right by the magnificent mile, about 5 minute walk to millenium park, and loads of great restaurants around. We received a very warm and friendly welcome at this conveniently located boutique hotel. The lobby is attractive and inviting. The desk staff is friendly and efficient. My colleagues and I had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Monaco in Chicago. Although we had to wait to get into our room, we were provided with drink vouchers and were able to have a drink and a snack in the restaurant next door; we were also upgraded to a River View room, which was perfect. The service was impeccable throughout our stay, and the AM coffee […] and PM wine hours were fantastic. Being as the hotel is situated in Chicago's Loop, there is traffic noise (even in a room on the 11th floor), but this did not cause problems for any of us. It is a quiet and pleasant boutique hotel in a covenient location. My room was spacious and comfortable. Complimentary wine reception in the evening was a nice added touch. I am glad I did not stay at the gigantic convention hotel!

This hotel is a prime location right along the riverwalk. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. The concierge was a big help too. The location is great to subway and walking distance to millenium mall and magnificent mile.

I stayed here for 3 nights with some friends on a vacation trip. The hotel was clean, comfy, and conveniently located. I didn't order any food so no comment there. The wifi seemed a little slow to connect to my yahoo pages. We were able to get around the downtown loop/mag mile area by foot and the train stations were only a few blocks away. The Hotel Monaco will not disappoint you! It's located a block off Michigan Ave. and convenient to shopping, dining, and attractions. My wife and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary - get a room with a window seat. We spent so much time looking out the window at the river and lights of the city. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

We spent a week at the hotel, excellent service and cleanliness. Exceptional staff! Within walking distance of lots of the sights and attractions. We could not have been more pleased.

You can't beat the location if you want downtown view and convenience! Room is comfortable and service is decent.

It's always hard to find a hotel in a city your never been. But Monaco was awesome. Such a cute hotel and the staff was so friendly. The location was walking distance to everywhere! We couldn't have picked a better hotel.

We will stay here again if we get to Chicago. The rooom was kept ever so perfect by the housekeeping person; she must be commended. The price was reasonable. The staff was always friendly and helpful. This just was such an ideal location; it could not have been better for us.

Great stay, only problem was the room we reserved. Two queen beds, three adults, somewhat cramped space. Overall a clean, accommodating hotel. Ouch....Valet parking was $46.00 a day.

Our family of 4 just spent 5 nights in a great double queen river view suite. The room was large with comfy beds, 10' high ceilings and cool window nooks for curling up in. Speaking of cool, this suite had very, very quite air conditioning. The location was also superb with great access to the L.
