"A good budget hotel choice"
The Super 8 hotel in Clive worked just fine for what we needed. We were in town to attend the Drake Relays and wanted an inexpensive place to sleep. That was what we got. No frills but a nice clean hotel. As an added bonus we were right next door to a Chili's, Applebees, and Baker's Square. That was a nice perk. "I always stay here when I am in Des Moines"
The people are very friendly and helpful. They have popcorn in the early evening and a fairly good breakfast. The rooms are very neat with coffee maker, frig and microwave, which is nice if you are staying for a few days. . It is close to the Interstate but it isn't noisy. Lots of food and shopping choices nearby. At this price level - it is a 5 star. […] The only negative I have is that while there is free wi-fi, which is fine for facebook, email, etc., you will have to pay extra for high speed if you want to stream movies or something like that. "Surprised!"
I go to DesMoines twice a year and have been staying at other hotels-after my stay at Super 8, I can't see spending extra cash at the other hotels when this one was equal or better than what I have stayed at during all my previous trips. I was very well pleased with Super 8!
Clean, conveniently located for our purposes and helpful, courteous staff. Several restaurants nearby. A quieter location but within easy driving distance of sports arena & shopping areas. We liked it well enough to stay 2 years in a row when attending state basketball tournament.
"Very poor customer service"
This hotel was understaffed and it showed. I had made the reservation through Hotels.com but upon arriving we still had to wait about 15 minutes to get our room keys because there was a large party checking in and only one person working the desk. But the biggest problem was the next morning. The toilet backed up and overflowed all over the bathroom […] floor. I called the front desk and was told "I don't have anyone I can send right now, can you throw some towels on the floor?" I told her I didn't have enough towels. She asked me to come down to the desk to get some. Then I said we needed another bathroom to finish getting ready in and she offered the bathroom next door that had just been vacated. It was still dirty with the guest that had stayed there! I told her no, we needed a clean bathroom. At that point she did say she would give me one, but I still had to go down to the desk and get the towels and the key. We finished getting ready in the other bathroom and left as quickly as possible. No one ever came to clean up the mess from the backed up toilet, at least not while we were there. "Des Moines trip"
Our experience with Super 8 in Des Moines was excellent. The rooms were clean. The staff was kind and responsive. The main thing we wanted was peace and quiet, which we received. I would stay there again for sure. Best of all, it was at a great price. Thanks!
"Comfortable and Functional"
I was at a conference at a nearby hotel and stayed here because it cost me half as much. Parts of the exterior and interior are dated, but it was comfortable and clean.

"Super 8 Clive"
The hotel was clean...desk clerk very polite and helpful....took only seconds to check in. The hotel was located in a very nice area and close to other places to eat get gas or whatever you needed. The hotel lobby was under construction, but they were only making it better than it already was. I would definitely stay there again.

"Super 8 West Des Moines"
I stayed here one night while attending a concert in Des Moines. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly impressed with the cleanliness, helpfulness of staff, and even the stylishness of room decor. It was very easy to get to the hotel from the interstate as well as from downtown as it is just off a major thoroughfare.

"easy access-good location"
Great great great place to stay on a budget in the Des Moines area! Nice neighborhood. Easy access off of the interstate. Close to shopping. Several restaurants are on the lane that leads to the hotel. The entire hotel has been renovated with nice, modern decor. We were in town for a wedding, and the whole bridal party was staying next door at Chase […] Suites. We did a lot of back and forth between the two hotels, but compared to ours, Chase looked much older and was not nearly as pretty inside. We had a king size bed that came with at least SIX pillows on it, so I didn't feel that they skimped as much as other hotels. There were also two easy chairs (I think one did recline) in our room. Breakfast was waffles, cereal, biscuits and heavy, donuts, oatmeal, toast, bagels, milk, juice, coffee, and even hard boiled eggs. Overall, very clean and very friendly! My only suggestion would be that you request a room on the first floor if you cannot do stairs. We will definitely stay again! Przeczytaj więcej

The only problem I encountered was that the breakfast did not included any healthy options like fruit or yogurt, it was all donuts, pastries, biscuits and etc.

"great value for the $"
It is located right in the heart of downtown des Moines, a mere 100 yards from the front door of the wells Fargo center. Food, bars, were all less than 5 blocks. Room was nice and clean. Shower was lacking good pressure, as most do. The folks at the front desk were awsome, and the free breakfast in the morning was delicious.

Our stay at the Super 8 on Saturday evening was great and very convenient to restaurants. The hotel was clean due to it being recently remodeled. The only thing that we were disappointed in was the hot tub was under repair. If that had been working everything would have been excellent.

The hotel had apparently been just bought by Super 8 and there were signs of remodeling and refurbishing. The back of the hotel had remnants of construction but the inside was very clean and newly updated. Staff was very freindly and helpful during our stay.

Over all this was less than a 1 star and the management was very poor! Blamed me for my bad check in expereince and I have been in customer service for 6 years where the customer ios always right. They said the whole experience was my fault.

"West des moines hotel, cheap choice for hyvee tri"
It was clean, I was there to do the hyvee triathlon so a parking spot next to my room really helped, could carry all my equipment in.
