The people (guests and employees) made my stay. The jewel of a backyard, with running water. Wait its not a backyard, its a relax lounge. Took a short nap there. Modern hotel with a great kitchen, happy smiling staff, always on the toe for you. Well powered AC in my room, good minibar, a safe, CLEAN. The amazing Vondelpark 3 minutes walk away, and the […] beautiful Cofeeshop Tweedy down the street. Many families, so please respect their no soft drug policy. We were very pleasantly surprised with our room. Lots of space and very stylish. Excellent location and would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is made up of dutch townhouses all interlinking by stairs and corridors, the rooms are immaculately presented and comfortable. The hotel is central for museum areas and lots of great restaurants. Unfortunately when we stayed, there was some building work going on in the hotel which was noisy. Not a bad hotel, just not a great one either. Staff a bit slow and disjointed between shifts. No coordination. The hotel is quite an old building so the noise is quite bad when people are moving around outside your room. and when the rooms are serviced you hear the hoover going like its in your room. There was only one thing wrong with our stay at this hotel. The room was located right UNDER the lobby. Foot traffic created loud noises in the room until late at night and early in the morning. The disturbance was quite unacceptable, but the room was nice, clean, convenient, and bargain priced. The location of the hotel is ideal, close to Leidse plein, […] Vondel Park, and Rijksmuseum. Perfect location, location, location...the room I had was an odd shape, however comfortable all the same. However witnessing the frustration of the hotel staff was awkward; an argument with the restaurant staff first thing in the morning, and the front desk clerk being completely baffled and vocally frustrated when the computer system crashed upon  […] check-out. This hotel is ok. Nothing special. The rooms are very small, even by European standards. Our bathroom smelled like sewage and dirty water. The lobby of the hotel is nice, but the rooms need some work. The location is great. Right next to everything, but I would not stay here again!

We stayed at Hotel Vondel for 3 nights. Everything about this Hotel we were extremely happy with and would highly recommend. The location was great, the staff helpful and the room was very modern and clean. I can honestly say I would stay here again.

If you get put in the rooms on the basement level by the front of the hotel DONT do what we did and 'wait and see' how it goes - it will be one of the worst nights you will ever spend in a hotel. The noise is unbelieveable, if you manage to get an hours sleep in between the drunks crashing around outside your window, or the lift mechanics clanking and […] whirring (or inexplicably some sort of foghorn type noise every time someone turns on a tap) you will have done better than we did. Every person who stayed in these rooms went to complain and from night two our room was very nice. However it is frankly a massive cheek that they use these basement rooms at all - talking to the bar man he said that "no one stays in those rooms more than one night" (cheeky wink). If you do decide to stay here and you do get stuck in the basement rooms dont wait and play Russian Roullette - demand to be moved immediately. This Hotel is able to offer discounted rates only because the rooms they are discounting should be classed as one or two star and priced accordingly, 50 Euros or less per night. This hotel is in a great location but is not great value for money. If going again I would compromise location a bit more and get a hotel that is cheaper with better facilities. Przeczytaj więcej

Nice hotel, specially the location is great, close to an area with a lot of action (3blocks) but without the noise. The rooms are very small.

Overall the hotel was clean, personnel were friendly and well run. The room was hardly large enough for two!!, the bathroom lacked any counter space and required opening the door if anything was dropped on the floor. Our river cruise ship cabin was larger.

Excellent location, close to Vondel Park (great for jogging and strolling) and great cafes/shopping! Room was a little small ... large bed with a desk at the end made it tough to get around the room ... but we did not spend a lot of time in the room ... too much to see in Amsterdam! They put me and my 71 year old mom in the one room in the entire hotel that was down a short but narrow flight of stairs. As is usual for European Hotel rooms, not much room to move. Location is great. Slightly overpriced

This hotel is incredibly close to the Leidseplein yet is on a quaint, quiet charming street. We didn't hear any of the noise from the square. Our room was a little small but tastefully decorated and had an extremely cozy feel. The bathroom smelled a little of mildew and a yucky-smelling cleaner, but the scent wore off after leaving the door open a bit. […] We heard every step, crack and creak in the room above us, but the A/C was cold, the bed was comfortable enough, and the staff were quite friendly. I stayed at the Hotel Vondel on the 4th August for one night on a business trip. The rather exorbitant rate paid by my company was for an executive room. The room given to me was in the basement with a window at ground level to the garden and smoking area! The room was ridiculously hot and had 2 fans circulating the same air around. After a night out […] I returned to find it was still the same. After speaking to the receptionist was initially told me that there was no aircon and that the hotel was fully booked for night, lo and behold a spare room was found and I was moved. The room on the 3rd floor was huge, immaculate and more akin to an expected exec room and price to match. I would recommend this hotel for it's nice rooms and fantastic quiet, sleepy and leafy area - ironically it is literally 200 yards from a very busy road, not that you would ever know it. There are very good bus and tram services within minutes of the hotel to both the central station and main town sights. Just avoid the basement rooms and ask for an alternative if given one. This is a boutique hotel with top facilities in tiny rooms. First, I was given a room in the basement with tiny bit of light with 12 inch window. I refused and they provided a room on the third floor. The room was decorated nicely but it was so small, I had to walk around the bed sideways to get from one corner to the other. A good clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Any queries or problems (eg faulty kettle in our room needed replacing) were dealt with effectively and promptly. Located away from the brasher part of the city centre but within easy walking distance of everywhere - particularly close to Rijksmuseum/Van Gogh/Stedelijk. the room met all my expectations. the room was very comfortable and clean. but the front desk was very hectic and a little unorganized. the first room already had another guest in it when i opened the door with the key card i was given. they resolved the problem right away and put me in another room on the same floor, but security was obviously a bit […] of a concern. i had to check out very early in the morning and the desk did not have any change. i wanted to pay the remaining balance in cash (less than 5 euros) but was forced to put it on a credit card becasue they could not make change. Hotel Vondel was a great choice for a weekend break in Amsterdam. A short walk from the city centre but set close to the beautiful Vondel Park. Hotel itself is stylishly decorated and our small double room, although compact (!) was very comfortable.

The internet solution that the hotel offers does not work. If you expect to be able to work or do anything online it is not the hotel for you. The location of the hotel is good, however, the neighboring sourroundings with barging dogs makes it impossible to fall asleep. The size of the hotel room is extremely small and the manager of the hotel is inexperienced […] and incompetent. Relatively large room, convenient location, close to museums, Vondel Park and public transportation. Friendly staff, good restaurant and pleasant launch area. Great breakfast included with room.

Nice hotel, some of the rooms needed a bit of sprucing up, decor marked in places. Great location in terms of exploring Amsterdam however there was a lot of noise in the early morning for the rooms which face the road. Wouldn't recommend simply due to the noise.

Great hotel would definitely stay again. Fantastic location, close to the trams (<5mins walk). Using the 24hr cards was great on the trams, get on and off as many times as you like within 24hrs. Staffs were very helpful and friendly. It can be a bit noisy in the hallways due to the wooden floors, but doesn't stop us from staying again.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Vondel. The location is near to Leidsplein, with lots of nightlife. The hotel guests reflect this. I was in the area to do the same, so it did not bother me. My bathroom smelled of smoke, coming from outside the room. However it was otherwise modern, clean, and very comfortable.

This hotel is located in a great location in Leidesplein just outside the city center. Very close to a nice park and close to tram stop. Room was small but cozy, make sure to get double room or queen size. Singles sometimes have bunkbeds. Bathroom was very clean and stylish. Would definitely stay here again.

hotel vondel is a newer hotel, and located within walking distance of all the major attractions amsterdam has to offer. It is family friendly (we took our infant) and they even offer daycare! The rooms are small (most european hotel rooms are) but they are super classy and nice..burberry blankets and all. I really enjoyed our stay and would def recommend […] it to anyone! Overall a very pleasent place to stay. The layout of the hotel is very charming and our room was small (expected) but cosy and comfortable. I loved the location as it was quiet, upscale and only minutes walking from most of what we wanted to see and do. The weather was not very nice during our trip, so we were unable to take advantage of what looked […] like a very nice garden. The only downside to the trip was the level of service recieved at the front desk. It seems that all of the people working there were trainees with no knowledge of the area. During a 3 week business/leisure stay in Europe, this was my favorite hotel due to the character of the hotel and the great staff. First of all, like most of the reviews say, the rooms are SMALL (especially if you book the cheapest rates) but don't let this disuade you if size doesn't matter to you. Do keep in mind this is quite typical of Euorpean […] hotels especially the character hotels in the heart of the city. For a few days stay, you're not going to be in your hotel room for very long anyway! This hotel is converted from 5 adjacent homes on a quiet street within walking distance to everything you will want to see. Given that it's a conversion, there are some quirks - narrow winding hallways with the odd stair between the different levels of the old homes and the rooms are small. The decor is modern but cozy and the renovations have made the most of the small rooms. If you're travelling as 2 or more people, get an upgraded room or you will drive each other crazy trying to move around the room. If you're travelling solo and are of regular porportions, you will do just fine. On a side note, the closet is tall and narrow so if you're one who likes to unpack your bag and are short like me this might pose a problem. We were nervous about the hotel because on other trips the hotel rating had been too high for the room/service we received (not through Hotels.com), but were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was lovely, was in an excellant location, and the service was very nice! However, it is a Euorpean hotel, and the rooms were still somewhat small even though […] the hotel did offer us an upgrade for a moderate fee. (We did the upgrade, but our bathroom was still tiny.) Also, the hotel is in several attached old townhomes which gives it character, but makes the halls a bit winding and difficult to navigate with luggage. Once we made our way to the lift to get upstairs to our room it was tiny and fit only 2 people comfortably. This hotel is fine for healthy able bodied individuals, but may be dfficult for someone handicapped, unless they try and stay in the building where the front desk is because there is a lift for those rooms that takes you directly up without winding your way through the rest of the hotel. We had never been to AMS before, so we were unsure about location. We were pleasantly surprised to find our hotel located only a couple of blocks from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, Leidensplein Square & Tram Station. In addition, we were only a block from the bus stop and canal cruise. The staff at Vondel were extremely courteous. They all spoke […] English and were helpful when asked for info. For ex: we planned on going back to the Central Station to take a train to the airport. The desk clerk told us that the bus passing a block from the hotel goes to the airport and only takes about 20 minutes. We had no problem and only had to carry our luggage a block. If I had one complaint, it would be that our room was on the basement floor. We had windows at the sidewalk level which was slightly noisy at times. But overall it was a great stay. This is an expensive but definitely not a 4 star hotel, the room, although very clean was tiny with just enough room to walk around the bed and no room for storage of clothes and suitcases.
