Medina Executive Brisbane - Fortitude Valley

I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed into the room before the check-in time. The room was a bit small but the river view was fantastic.

Room was very small by North American Standards. The kitchenette only had a microwave and mini bar, no provision to make any meals.

The hotel was good with excellent, friendly service from the staff. Because the walls were so thin and there was no sound-proofing, noise from the room next door in the early hours of the morning was disturbing. The hotel is situated on a steep hill so if one intended to walk about, one would have to be very fit.

We had booked the wrong night by mistake ,and arrived a day early. The reception was accomadating and changed all booking dates with the approval of booking agent . Had a good stay and a very nice breakfast . Only complaint was the air-con was on the blink and had to call reception for maitiance who came up straight away . But still could of been c […] ooler. Good hotel well located staff very friendly and inexpensive.

Efficient friendly staff I was impressed as we entered our room there was a gentleman in a suit/uniform doing the final check list to ensure the room was up to standard after the cleaning staff had left. The accommodation was up to any standard of a 5 star hotel. However the bathrooms are a little dated but sparkling clean. The hotel is in a good location. However the rooms are tiny, the air conditioning broke and instead of offering to move us to another room, they kept on trying to reset it. In the end they gave us a fan. Also the breakfast buffet is understaffed and I asked numerous times to have the plates from the previous person removed. Noise from ttraffic was very loud. Hotel was very hard to find poor signage. Back units have no view at all. Breakfast was very good. River walk way to Downtown was right outside the front door. Rooms were clean and staff was very helpful. Thanks

We had a wonderful view of the Story Bridge - lovely at night all lit up. The staff was great with recommending attractions.

Disappointed an email sent directly to the hotel more than 10 days before our arrival went unanswered and ignored. When I mentioned this to reception I was "cross examined" as to where I had sent it. (their address on their website!) Bad start - check in staff bordering on rude. Room very basic and small, not even a comfortable chair to relax in, however […] view up the river lovely and the walk along the Riverside to downtown city via restaurants and bars really pleasant. finishes in amenities were probably from the 90s, however customer service was fantastic, riverside view has a good view of the bridge, and well positioned between the valley and cbd.

The hotel is located at one end of the Story Bridge. The view from the room is fantastic at night. The service is very good and rooms are very clean. Only problem is the noise from the vehicles passing through the bridge. It is hard to fall sleep if the room is near the bridge due to the noise.

Very comfortable. We had an apartment and it was lovely although lacking a few cooking accessories. Parking was very reasonable. we were very comfortable and would recommend to anyone looking for a convienient spot near to the valley or even a brisk walk into the CBD

We had a very difficult time getting to this hotel. It was located nearly under the bridge and there were lots of one-way streets. The hotel was fine and had a parking garage for our use. It was wonderful having a nice staff to greet you and help you with anything you need. It was a lovely hotel.

Spend the night here after a work trip to catch up with friends for a drink. Comfitable room and walking distance to nearby bars. Great view of river/CBD with good sized courtyard/balconey.

Good, clean apartment with good facilities. The location was good although we didn't have bridge/river view. Considering we were right on the road the apartment was relatively quiet. Lovely stroll along the river to the CBD. I've seen reviews about the steep hill up to the hotel - it's a short steep hill - not worth mentioning!!

I chose the Medina off the internet because they were offering a great deal for three nights stay. l was really pleased with the convenience of the location and also with the quality of the accommodation. Hotel was average, but location was great. Matt at the front desk was extremely helpful in rearranging our booking and made the visit worthwhile.

Sauna could be warmer, and shower at pool location could be refreshed as they seem very old and not clean because of aging.

We were there for 4 nights in a studio riverview room. We liked the position of the hotel as it was about 10-15min brisk walk to city or Fortitude Valley. What appealed to us the most was the secure car parking at very reasonable rates and closeness to the city. The main problem with the car parking was on some nights people had to "double park" and […] you could easily get blocked in. However, the hotel managed this by asking the "double park" guests to leave their car keys with reception. You were made aware of this on checkin so you could plan around it. We did see one of the guests inspecting car damage as we were leaving one morning - we don't know where that damage happened. The traffic noise from the Bridge was very noisy. It was a lot better with the door closed. We had a room furtherest away from the bridge and on one of the higher floors. We were a bit disappointed with the view because the angle of our room showed us mainly the Bridge and a little bit of the river - we were hoping for more of a view of the river as we were there to unwind and not watch traffic. Some reviewers said it wasn't noisy - I don't know which room/s they could have stayed in to say that, or maybe they are use to living with a bit of traffic. The shower had good pressure and there was a bath. The room was a comfortable size. The bed was comfortable and a good size. There was very limited drawer space for clothing and 'goodies'. The kitchenette had a microwave and sink with limited cutlery and plates and very limited storage space for extra food - the mini bar in the bar fridge takes up the fridge space so you had none left for your food. I found it very annoying that each day housekeeping kept taking some of my makeup from the shelf and placing it on the wet vanity so that they could put their handtowels which we never used on the shelf . this hotel exceeded expectations. staff were friendly,helpful and efficient. the room was outstanding. the view upon opening the door left me standing. right next to the bridge with an amazing view down the river. the apartment was roomy, modern and comfortable. any worries from other reviews about noise from the bridge were misleading. we had no problems. […] the hotel is a 15 minute walk from the city centre or slightly longer along the lovely river walk. convenient for catching the city cat up or down the river. we stayed for 3 nights before travelling up through queensland and they stored a bag for us before we returned 2 weeks later. on return i had booked a studio rather than a one bedroom apartment. on check in they had upgraded us to a one bedroom apartment for no extra charge. those who had a bad experience here were very unlucky because my husband and i would definitely return. he stayed in a more expensive hotel with business for the previous 2 weeks which wasn't a patch on this. Excellent serviced studio apartment. Very clean with good facilities. Hotel on river front within easy walk of downtown and general city facilities. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. On site secure parking at a nominal daily charge was very useful for us. Only minor criticism was the restaurant which was not very good value for money. Arrived at 11.20am. Met by a receptionist with unpleasant attitude. First he said curtly that there wasn't any reservation under our name. He "found" it after we showed him the email print out as proof. Then he said that there wasn't any room ready at that time. Naturally we asked if we could leave our bags in the storage room & checked in later in […] the afternoon as we had to go out anyway. He then said that there was a room ready afterall. Turned out the room was located exactly above the garage entry door, facing noisy motorway with very dirty balcony. We then asked to be moved to other room. He said "you can't move, the hotel is 100% full". We suggested leaving our bags and come back later in the afternoon when there's another available room. Like a broken record he said "hotel is 100% full". We insisted on moving to other room of the same category. Then he said we could move to a riverview room if we pay extra $25/night. We agreed as we wanted to have good night sleep - having a room above noisy garage door opening and closing at all times won't help. We wondered whether putting us in the first room was a "scheme" to get us to upgrade to a more expensive room - logically if the hotel was really 100% full, there wouldn't be any room for us to move to, with or without payment. All in all, it wasn't a good way to start our holiday. Considering we've booked and paid for 3 nights stay, the service was terrible. No greetings, no smiles, impolite and not up to the hotel's 4.5 star standard. We've stayed in many 4 - 5 star hotels, we've also acquired a platinum status at a well-known hotel chain, so we know what we're talking about. We've never had a worst check-in service than this. The riverview room we moved to was quieter. We went out for the day and came back in the evening. We found out that there wasn't any iron in the room and couldn't watched the tv as the pictures were very blurred. My wife and I stayed briefly at the Medina and we were very impressed by all aspects of the hotel. I had asked for a possible upgrade when booking online, which was organised to our complete satisfaction.

Very pleasant stay. Close to everything and beautiful views of the river. Some of the apartments might be a little close to a busy bridge and traffic noise. But overall it was a great experience.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Had a great room on the top floor with views over river, bridge and CBD. Close to Storey Bridge but no traffic noise. Very close to good restaurants on Brunswick St and a 1 min walk drops you onto the end of the riverside broadwalk.

We were vacation travelers from the United States, who happened to be completing the sale of a home while on vacation. The staff at the Medina Executive Brisbane was extremely helpful in heping us coordinate the scanning of sales documents back to the states. The Medina is a lovely hotel. We stayed in a room with a view of the river which I would definately recommend. Location is good. It is about 10-15 minunute walk to the middle of Brisbane centre and approximately 10-15 minutes from the train station (Brunswick Street Station). Hotel was very nice. I had a large room. It is close to the river so you can walk on the river each morning. You have to pay for internet access; it is not free. The hotel may be hard to get to by car.

This hotel is hard to get to because of the way the streets are around it. Lots of one ways, no left turn, no right turn, etc. We got frustrated by that. Eventually, we found it by going across the bridge, and circling back. It is the first building to the left as you go north on the bridge. Our room was almost street level, and fairly noisy (4th floor), […] so if you can ask for a room higher up, that would be better. Other than that, it was fine. A very nice hotel. The room was large and reasonably priced. Walking distance to a few restaurants and Fortitude Valley. My only complaint is that the access roads are a narrow, steep, and laid out in a difficult pattern.

The hotel was ok. The rooms (I had two, because of some strange noise in my first room. I was though upgraded) had kitchen. The view was nice. I could see the city and the river, and also the famous bridge. Because of all the traffic on the bridge it was to noisy to sit on the balcony. It was located a good walk from the city-center. Nice hotel in a quiet corner between the city centre and China Town. Clean, nice rooms and friendly staff. Slightly more expensive internet than the other hotels I stayed at in Brisbane but with a nicer view than others in the same price range. The small outdoor pool oversees the Story Bridge and the river. It´s about 15-20 min walk from the nearest […] train station and about the same to the Queen Street shopping centre.
