This was my second stay at the Dover Beach Hotel and it was overall very enjoyable. The staff is always friendly, the location is second to none...right on the beach and walking distance to all entertainment venues in The Gap, the restaurant is very convenient with decent food at affordable prices, and the rooms include a kitchenette. Beautiful location. Right on the beach- you can see the waves from the balcony, Our room was 310- the view from the balcony was as a perfect postcard!! Little nice balcony with table and chairs- every day the day has started there with coffee and finished there with a drink:-)) The hotel is not new but very well maintained. Not luxurious - but everything […] that is necessary for a perfect vacation. The towels are a little tired- but they will change them every day if you want. There is internet , nice area you can read or just sit, small pool with chairs and a bar/restaurant. The hotel does not have a beach- but all the beaches in Barbados are public so literally two steps on the left and you are on the beach of Turtle Beach Resort. If you want to walk 5 min or 10 min- you have a choice between two different beaches- both beautiful. This hotel is at the end of The Gap, within walking distance to all the restaurants and bars, etc. and the convenience store is just a few minutes away. The room itself is very nice, we had a kitchenette, and we found the bed very comfortable. They have an outside restaurant/bar that has a few choices in their menu, although it has specific hours, and […] if you wanted anything later in the evening there is nothing available. At the time we went it was not very full, so it was quiet. It has a sundeck, and the beach gate is closed around 7 pm. I was just passing thru Barbados and stayed 2 nights. Great location. The lady at the activities desk was super friendly and helpful since I was travelling alone. Definitely would book this hotel again.

- Okay value for money. - The hotel restaurant and was not anything to be happy about. -The hotel had to few beach chairs for all guests. -The big disadvantage about this hotel is the water at the beach, which is very wild and with many and large waves. this hotel is very well situated. right on the Gap. we stayed 3 nights. the little restaurant in the hotel was very good to bad not many people go there. The beach was very nice, nice sand and the waves were rough. the flag was red for 2 days and the last day the flag was yellow so it was good the last day. As I often have to overnight in Barbados while in transit, I have stayed at many hotels near the airport. The Dover Beach has shabby, somewhat dirty, basic rooms. We had a garden view room, with a balcony which was a nice spot for breakfast or an evening drink or for my friend to smoke a cigarette, The only complaint was that there was no air conditioning in the living room. Most of our stay we kept the french doors to the balcony open so it wasn't too bad, and there was air conditioning in the bedroom which […] worked well. For an inexpensive stay, it is an good choice. The staff at the Dover Beach was very friendly and helpful but the room needed some updated furniture and the bathroom needed remodeling. The room was clean and comfortable.

The first hotel room allocated to us was on the ground floor which was right by the pool. We quickly realised that anyone sat by the pool was literally right outside our room. There were no nets/voils on the patio doors- just curtains so you would have had to have the curtains drawn otherwise everyone would see you. This made the room very dark as it […] blocked out all the sunlight. In addition to this we didn't feel safe on the ground floor so we asked to be moved. The staff were great and moved us up a floor. The new room they allocated was dirty- mould all over the coving/ceiling and skirting boards. The kitchenette and bathroom was very very old and clearly hadn't been maintained. I think they had been cleaned but they were in disrepair and personally I wouldn't feel happy cooking in the kitchen and washing in the bathroom. We opened the patio doors which looked out onto a street where people adjacent could see into our room. When we went to lock the patio door it didn't work and we found the lock was hanging off. We called to reception and they sent a man up with a screwdriver. He fixed one lock but then we discovered the other was broken too. The front door to the room was very flimsy and just like an internal door- no proper locks- one bash at the door and it would have opened. We didn’t feel safe or willing to stay there so we called went down to reception and explained all our findings and asked about checking out. They said we would loose one nights stay if we were to check out now but we need to call hotels.com as we had booked through them. The actual policy stated that would loose two nights but the hotel agreed to one. Hotels.com called the hotel and confirmed this. Within minutes we had checked out. 24 hours later I received an electronic invoice from hotels.com confirming the refund. The staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful – I cannot fault them but unfortunately this hotel really isn’t up to standard or worth the money. Przeczytaj więcej

I just got back from 8 days in Barbados. I stayed at 3 different places, and the cost for a room in Dover Hotel with a "king bed" (2 singles pushed together) was much better than surrounding hotels. The room was clean, hot water worked (in the morning), the wifi worked (by the pool/bar) and the staff was awesome, super friendly Bajans, and always smiling […] and making jokes. I recommend staying here for a cheaper alternative to nearby hotel/resorts, especially since you can just take a short walk up the beach and hang out at any of the other hotels/bars/beaches in the area. It's not a high luxury place, but if you can get a good deal, it's totally worth it. The location is at the far end of the Gap (about a 5 minute walk) and away from any loud music and bars, and has a great smoothy place right on the same block. The Dover Beach Hotel is an excellent choice for those who want an affordable getaway. The hotel is located at the edge of the highly popular St. Lawrence Gap. You do not need to rent a car when staying at this hotel. Everything you need is within walking distance. There is a neighborhood supermarket within a 7 minute walk from the hotel. Restaurants […] and bars are all along “the Gap”, including a lively bar across the street from the hotel. The hotel does have a restaurant/bar on site; however, it is more low key. Happy hour specials are from 4:30PM to 5:30PM every day where drinks are half price. The food is very good and reasonably priced. There is free wifi in the common areas: hotel lobby, pool, bar/restaurant, and on the sundeck. The hotel is located right on the ocean. To get to the beach, walk 2 minutes down to the water. The hotel employees are very nice and attentive. They will answer any questions you may have at any time of the day. Housekeeping go far and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Mary at the concierge desk will help you decide what to do and where to go. To go into Barbados capital city of Bridgetown or the fishing town of Oistins, walk 10 minutes to the main road and walk in the direction of the respective town. A mini-van will surely honk at you to see if you want to be picked up. The ride into Bridgetown takes about 20 minutes and to Oistins about 7 minutes. The ride each way costs $1 USD or $2 Barbados dollar. Don’t forget to tip your driver. Back at the hotel, relax at the pool or the beach to take in the sunny skies of Barbados. Beach towels are available for free through the hotel front desk. The airport is a 15 minute car ride away. Fantastic location at the beach, very close to the action. Hotel apartment is a bit tired but the price is right. Staff is very helpful with planning day trips....free bus to Bridgetown for shopping.

I stayed at the Dover Beach Hotel recently and very much enjoyed my stay. The location couldn't be better, close to the little nightlife that actually exists in Barbados. The nearby beaches are gorgeous. The room was very clean. It could use a little repair and updating, but overall I was very pleased. The fact that it is right on the beach, has a clean pool and decent, yet tired, decor, still makes it very worth the price. The staff are very happy and accomodating.

Pros: - Very beautiful ocean side location and puclic Dover Beach is just next to it - Clean and comfortable - Free wifi in lobby - Team friendly and responsive. My room had an issue with the bathroom and next day they came to check it and offered immediately a transfer to a new room (which I gladly took) Cons: - A bit outdated, but didn't really bother […] me - Location is at the quiet end of the Gap and at evening the surroundings are a bit shady - Wifi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms - Breakfast is not included But for the price I paid, I was satisfied and would recommend the hotel. This hotel is not in the gap at all. The gap is a good mile walk away with no street lights half the walking distance. Dover does have a beach but no beach chairs. The beach chairs that are there our only for the hotel next door and they will kick you off if you sit on them. The hotel is misquito infested so bring OFF with you. I stayed at a 5 star resort last year in Barbados, but my say at the Dover this year was second to none. When we checked in the staff made sure we were comfortable before they left the room. This year I was able to enjoy the night life, the restaurants and entertainment along theSt Lawrence Gap.The room had all the amenities for comfort, great view […] pf tje ocean, and access to public transportation. I shared the accommodation with a girl friend and we felt very safe. The hotel had security and when we left at nights or was expecting someone, we could always leave a message with the security to tell our guest where to meet us. We were even treated to a free island tour, including lunch, when the pool was being maintained. For two women vacationing, we could not have asked for anything better. I enjoyed my stay at the Dover better than the five star resort. Very accommodating staff and the price was affordable. I would consider staying there again because I did not get anything less than I did at the 5 star resort. Checking out was just as easy as checking in. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly but it is a little expensive for the amenities offered.........it said a full kitchenette, but we had a fridge, microwave, kettle and 2 cups and saucers.......no other cutlery, no plates, no hot plate, frying pan or saucepan......it was basic...........

Hotel was ok. Not bad, but not great. The beach was beautiful and the staff was friendly. The door only had 1 lock, so the security was not so secured, even though the area seem nice to relax. I would stay again as long as the rates stay reasonable.

Wonderful, quiet, clean, yet walking distance to St Lawrence shops and restaurants. Easy cab ride to Oistens Fish Fry. Walkable, beautiful beach. Great for a few days before a cruise!

Stayed in this hotel in Sept/09 and think it is a good value for money: excellent location (right on the beach and 5 minutes walk from the famous St. Lawrence Gap (main bars area)). The hotel is clean and staff very friendly and helpful. The only downs I thought were an outdated TV in the bedroom and the breakfast (not included in the price) is quite […] disappointing. I was in a studio with garden view (with a terrace right in front of the swiming pool) and with fridge, microwave and cook so you can buy and prepare your own breakfast if you want. Teniendo en cuenta la relación precio/calidad está muy bien. El hotel es limpio, bastante bien mantenido, el personal es muy cordial, la ubicación es buena y la playa Dover es muy linda. Aunque estaría bueno que tenga servicio sobre la playa.

Eu e minha esposa ficamos hospedados de 28/11 a 03/12 e tivemos uma estada muito agradável no hotel. Nosso quarto tinha uma linda vista para o mar e apesar de simples era bom (com exceção aos travesseiros). Os funcionários do hotel são prestativos em especial a consierge (Mary) que estava acima do padrão e foi sempre muito simpática e prestativa. A […] localização é excelente, pois fica ao lado da praia e a 2 min de caminhada de outra que tem uma infra-estrutura um pouco maior, além de ter ponto de ônibus perto, o que facilita muito a locomoção. O hotel é bom, com ótima relaçao custo-benefício e boa localizaçao. O único cuidado a ser tomado é com os nativos que ficam ao redor do hotel. Há tráfico e consumo de drogas e os nativos abordam os turistas constantemente. Boa relação custo/beneficio, boa localização, piscina limpa e funcionarios em geral muito educados e prestativos, com excessão das moças da recepção, sempre mal humoradas e sem nenhuma paciencia com quem não domina o ingles. O Preço é justo para um hotel com piscina, wifi liberado no hall do hotel, acesso a praia, otima localizaçao e funcionarios dispostos sempre a ajudar e apontar a melhor opcao para os turistas.

Unfortunately the hotel has no own beach, despite the name of the hotel would expect so. No sunshade available at the terrace to the sea.

Foi maravilhoso, o Hotel fica num ponto maravilhoso, todos funcionários do Hotel muito gentis, a praia do Hotel é ótima. Não é de luxo mas é tudo simples e muito bom.
