"Room was dirty upon arrival"
The hotel is nice when you walk in but when I entered my room there were towels in the sink and the phone was missing buttons. Online I booked king bed suite but received a 2 queen room. I was only there for a day so i didn't complain. The room service was good.

The people working there are the best thing about this hotel. Really cheerful and decent folks. The hotel is just on the cusp of being a better hotel if the owners would invest in the property. Everything is worn and older and needs a lot of work.

"Beware! Surprising charges"
No cell service in the hotel. Crappy cell phone service which is possibly intentional combined with a 1$ per minute for long distance phone calls that is un advertised made for a surprising checkout. "Well well past its prime"
The hotel actually smells of mold or must when you enter the back doors. The hallways and elevator had the same smell. Thankfully our room did not smell. Carpets are extremely worn. totally run down, other than the lobby. literally flickering lights like a haunted house. no cell phone reception (Verizon). Not particularly convenient to Duke, still had to drive and park.

Really a dump of a hotel. Hasnt been updated in 30 years. They charge you $10 for internet. They charged me 75 cent for the bag and box they put my to-go order in at the resaurant, ha. I laughed at that one, it just shows you the type of hotel it is.

The Millennium hotel was ok. room was large clean and dated. We were just passing through and needed a place for one night and it surved the purpose just fine. However, if this is a 3 and half star hotel I swear I stayed in a 4 star motel 6 the other night.

"Nice front end."
Hotel front end looks great. Front end staff outstanding. The first room I was given was very damp and muskie and not very clean. The second room was still a little muskie, but very clean. could not get cell phone signal in rooms on first floor and if you need wi-fi you have to pay for that.

On family vacation for the week heading south, we decided to break up the driving to and from our destination, so we booked hotels for each leg. One leg we had the Hampton Inn on the return trip we stayed at the Millennium based on reviews provided on hotels.com website. It's time for a complete overhaul of the Millennium hotel. Millennium's TV's, furniture, and overall aesthetic was nothing to be desired. The indoor swimming pool area needs a redo, dealing with the mildew walls and old decor of the area. Also, the jacuzzi was broken and looking like it needed serious repair. There was a continental breakfast...for a fee for cereal, danishes and muffins or you could spend an arm and a leg in the on-site restaurant. FYI, Hampton Inn had a continental breakfast that was nicely presented and FREE. There was no additional charges at the Hampton Inn when we checked out, but for some reason I was charged a fee for additional services...maybe I read something wrong when I booked the hotel on hotels.com. And last but not least, why was there free internet in the lobby of the hotel, but not in the room. If tried to get service in your room, you were going to be charged a connection fee. I'm unhappy that I was originally charged $20.00 for internet use without prior warning that there are charges associated to it. most hotels have no charge for internet. They reduced the cost to $10.00. But there was no notice or paperwork to inform me of any possible additional charges. besides that, hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. A 30 year old hotel. Good if you are going to Duke hospital. Shower did not work the first day. Could hear next door talking on the phone. Not very well isolated. The staff are not very friendly, just pure business. The business center running old computers with IE 6, useless for accessing many sites.

First, the positive - very friendly front desk and greeters into the hotel. Hotel is in desperate need of renovating lobby as well as the rooms. "Millennium Hotel - not what I expected"
I had stayed at the Millennium 6 years ago and remembered a fairly good hotel. When my husband and I stayed there last weekend, I was disappointed to find that it had gone downhill. They block all signals to the rooms unless you pay for wireless. This affected our cell phones as well, and we could not get any reception in our room. I had a specific […] request and asked for the manager to call me. He never called. There is no mini-refrigerator in the rooms. We were placed in a room far away from the main entrance and told to park our car near the side entrance, which was fine except our room key did not work to open the side entrance at night so we had to walk all the way around the hotel to get in. The furnishings were a bit old and tattered looking. Instead of Millennium, I would recommend La Quinta. La Quinta is nothing fancy, but at least you have free wireless and breakfast. The room in general was nice; mattress firm; clean; helpful staff but needs some better management. The "gym" is an eyesore of a couple pieces of equipment rusting away near the humidity of the pool and the jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. Also no elevator for at least the East Wing.
