Bogliasco nie jest miejscowością turystyczną, ale ma dogodne położenie do zwiedzania Cinque Terre, Genui i Portofino. Można łatwo tam dojechać pociągiem lub statkiem. To, że nie jest miejscowoscią turystyczną pozwala wczuć się w klimat małego włoskiego miasteczka (choć jest to raczej przedmieście Genui). Trudno o miejsce do parkowania.

Pięknie usytuowany na wzgórzu hotel. Jest to XVI-to wieczna budowla, odremontowana, niestety w kiepskim stylu- przez co traci. Pokoje i korytarze umeblowane w antycznych meblach, co nadaje niepowtarzalny klimat. Jednak pokoje sa bardzo małe! a w łazience są problemy z ciepłą wodą. Mimo, że hotel jest w mieście, to z okien rozpościera się przepiekny widok na wzgórze, winnice i stary kościół. Wielka zleta hotelu, która nie jest nigdzie opisywana to przepiękny ogród. Schodzi się do niego tuż za basenem. Można tu znaleść grotę, oczko wodne z łabędziami a na samym końcu przepiękną stylową altanę z rzeźbami i fontaną. Wszystko to wybudowane zostało w tym samym okresie co zamek, z pozostałościami starych kolumn i murowanych ławek, otocznone bujną zielenią, dziką i nie do końca zadbaną co sprawia wrażenine " Tajemniczego Ogrodu". Miejsce to ma niepowtarzalny klimat i romantyczną atmosferę.

The Excelsior Palace probably had its heyday but it's not now. It could use a major renovation. The rooms are tiny but it's not the size that matters. It was old old old. I had trouble answering the question about whether I would recommend this hotel to others based on the fact that although the hotel is very pleasant, it lacked that wow factor that so many other 5 star rated hotels have, yet it was priced much higher than the others we visited during our month long stay of the Riviera and south of France. The hotel […] felt under-utilised with many areas not earning their keep we felt. i.e the beautiful terraces outside overlooking the sea would have been ideal for perhaps afternoon teas, or early evening cocktails, yet there was no activity there at all despite plenty of guests wanting that sort of service. The pool area had a captive audience of many dedicated sun worshippers at lunchtime with all local restaurants too far away to be any competition for the hotel, yet the food at the poolside bar was limited to not much more than a tiny frozen pizzetta which looked of the 'value' variety at best. There was however a restaurant offering overpriced sit down meals (nobody used it) Nobody visted the sunbeds taking orders for drinks etc as you'd perhaps expect in a 5 star rated hotel. Check-in was also tedious, our room wasnt ready for another 40 mins after the mid afternoon check in time and judging by the groups of other visitors sitting agitatedly in the foyer each time we passed, it was not uncommon practise. "Loud and Stinky"
I dont really know where to start with this hotel. The staff at the front desk are knowledgable and helpful but thats about the only part that was satisfactory. Our room was decent and somewhat comfortable but as soon as we stepped out in the hall we were hit by a stinch that wreaked of a old under maintained hotel. The supply room for the maids was […] on the other side of the wall behind our bed, and every morning they open and close the door it would squeek loud and slowly till it closed all the way, this would happen approximately 15-20 times per morning. Miserable and incredibly hard to sleep to. The restuarant Eden was decent, bread was stale both days, and staff seemed annoyed when you asked for something. Overall this hotel was not up to standards it claims. Also we asked to rent a Vespa scooter 3 of which sat outside and he claimed there were booked but then all three of them never moved all day, not sure what that meant. Absolutely stunning hotel - gorgeous views overlooking the water. Room was large with an incredible view of the marina and town. Large closet, yes a closet, and bathroom. Balcony was large enough to throw a party. Service was outstanding. Just a short 10-minute walk from town. Close to Portofino and Santa Margherita. The photos do not lie!

The Excelsior Palace is a little out of the way, in Rapallo, just north of Santa Margherita and Portofino, but worth it. It's one stop on the train to St M and a ten minute bus ride to Portofino, or for more fun take the ferry around the peninsula. There is also a ferry to the Cinque Terre though we took the train, about a 45 minute trip to Monterossa. […] The hotel is a haven of calm and convenience. The rooms have great views of a modern Italian resort harbor and the staff is so efficient they put Starbucks to shame. The hotel was hosting a convention of cancer surgeons while we were there, but the staff was never overwhelmed or unprepared. Our room was especially comfortable with a huge old tub and warm soft robes. Beautiful Hotel with magnificent views ,friendly staff,Ist class breakfast and good beach club.Only negative is steep climb from road to hotel when walking from Rapallo itself.Also crossing same road can be tricky as it is on a bend with lots of traffic.Hotel should consider installing a lift from beach club level to road below.

"Excellent hotel, location and price for the Portofino area"
This hotel was our best experience in Italy. We are architects and we enjoy the relationship between the topography, landscape the city and the hotels. This hotel is slightly big but is an interesting landmark in the Rapallo-Santa Margherita area, very close to Portofino (just 8 minutes by car or 10 minutes by bus). The real estate of this hotel is […] incredible because it combines the natural features of the landscape and the elegance of an stylish 5 stars hotel. The connection to the beach (small rocks and clifs that leads you to the sea) is great if you want to stay at a hotel with full service. The beach resort has a nice small swimming pool overlooking the sea and then a series of terraces that face the water. The water is very clean considering that is next to Rapallo's port. The rooms that face the Mediterranean (you may have a sea view room that faces the bay of Rapallo) some have nice balconies and an incredible view. The whole area of Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino is really worth it, nice landscape, incredible small villas facing the water and nice hotels. This hotel is really worth the price. With the cheapest fare it is not included the access to the beach and its included a room with the view to the Rapallo port and city (30 euro/p access to private beach, July 2009). "Not worth the money."
Excelsior was a nice hotel overall. We took our two teenage daughters for two nights. I thought the wait staff was a bit stuffy and the pool/beach option not so great. To get to Rapallo you had to walk down the winding drive of the hotel and really had to watch the traffic in both directions as there was no sidewalk. While the hotel building and surroundings are gorgeous, the service and cleanliness need significant improvement. The rooms include dated carpetings and linens which need to be cleaned. The hotel rates don't include use of the pool although this is not stated in any of the advertised material. The service also does not reflect a luxury property.

"Wirklich gut - ausser..."
Wir haben den Aufenthalt im Hotel Excelsior wirklich gut erlebt - das Ambiente ist angenehm, das Frühstück hervorragend. Zwei Verbesserungsvorschläge: 1. Das SPA muss unbedingt aufgebessert werden. Wir haben dieses Hotel auch gerade wegen des Welness - Bereiches gewählt, sind jedoch nur einmal hingegangen. Das Schwimmad haben wir als nicht sehr sauber […] erlebt, die Liegen waren "schmudelig", nicht mehr wirklich ein Anziehungspunkt. Die Sauna ist gar ein wenig klein, das Dampfba ok. Duschen und Umkleideraum brauchen ebenfalls eine Auffrischung. 2. Die benutzten Reinigungsmittel des Hotels riechen extrem stark und dementsprechend unangenehm. De gehorigheid is erg groot. Zeker als je ( boven-)buren treft die midden in de nacht thuis komen en zich totaal niets aantrekken van de overige gasten. Alle ( prive-)details zeer waarneembaar. Bij de buren waren de teksten te verstaan! Dus zeer fraai hotel in dito omgeving, maar met enige pech hou je er een paar slechte nachten aan over.

"Fünf-Sterne-Hotel Lux - bestimmt nicht!"
Die Lage des Hotels ist ja prächtig, Das Frühstücks-Buffet ebenso und Ende März mit wenigen Gästen erholsam. (Im Sommer sollen es 10 - 15 x mehr sein!) Die Hotelzimmer selbst sind altmodisch, bieder, hellhörig, wenn der Nachbar mal alle Lichtschalter vis a vis ausprobiert hat. Und das Equipment ist veraltet und nicht mal 100 % funktionstauglich (Dusche, […] Fernbedienung). Wir hatten Deluxe gebucht. Ein paar Business-Heinis hatten den Frühstücksraum zum Office umfunktioniert und waren zu Viert am Telefonieren. Unangenehm laut, breit und nervig! Das Personal ist super-nett und kompetent - in allen Sprachen! Zu guter Letzt - es war nach dem Angewöhnen superschön in Rapallo - toller Ausgangsort für Chiavari, Sestri Levante, 5 Terre, ja sogar weiter nach Norden oder Süden - alles sicher mit der Eisenbahn!
