The continental breakfasts could have been better!
"Nice Quiet Alternative"
If you like a bit of peace you can't beat the location; 20 minutes to downtown - about the same as west end and east end options - but right on the Rideau River. Room is fine, nothing really stood out as special but nothing wrong either. It's great to be able to walk the (small) grounds or sit and watch the river from your balcony.
"Pretty setting for a family gathering"
While the exterior of the hotel and the carpeting in the hotel rooms could use an update, overall, this is a hotel staffed with courteous, helpful, cheerful staff who try very hard to please. The setting is lovely and the overall amenities in the rooms are as one would expect.

Loved this resort right in the city of Ottawa. An unexpected surprise.
"Basic but a place to sleep"
I arrived very late due to flight delay, 2.30am This is a $20.00 taxi fare, car rentals close at 1am ! Someone was there to greet me. She was polite and helpful. I was loaned an internet cable as there is no wireless network there. The rooms are not very soundproof, woken at 5am by car horn, repeatedly for 2-3 mins. "Misleading Hotel Information on website"
Hotels.com website said hotel had a free airport shuttle and that was why I chose it. When we got the hotel and asked about booking the shuttle, we were told there was no shuttle - free or otherwise. Hotel was listed as 2.8 km from airport but since there was no shuttle we had to take a cab to the airport which cost $18. A 2.8 km cab ride in Ottawa […] should be about $9 not $18. "Sound insulation poor."
I was stay on the lower floor. I could hear people want and talk upstair all night.
Thier was no internet service- you have to have own cabel to get it (and it is not working any way) was missing towels, and I have to go to pick up myself . second night I got room for smokers-(hotel was booked up)-The room smells like a hell-thier was no ventylation or air fresheners in this room. Isn't this against the law ?

Although the decor is a little dated, we found the Inn to be very clean and comfortable! We would certainly use the accommodation again!

"Dated but clean"
The location and reasonable rate attracted me to this fairly dated but clean location. The check in lobby area is very modern and a nice stone exterior that that was quaint and attractive. The rooms, or at least the one I stayed in, need serious updating. The building exterior was well maintained and didn't show its age. I would and will be back again […] when I go there for business. "Monterey Inn-comfortable place"
It is a brilliant idea--fix up an old motor inn, making sure everything is clean, comfortable, and safe. Charge a reasonable price. Nice toiletries, comfortable bed. The only problem is the heater is a little bit loud, but the room was nice and warm. One of my favorite hotels I've stayed in.

This hotel has good staff that were accommadating and polite. It is close to the airport and was quiet. The room was adequate for our needs and the room was clean. I think it would be a very nice place to stay in the summer.

We live about 1 hr out of Ottawa and frequently stay in Ottawa beofre early morning checkins for flights. The Monterey is a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable place to stay. Our only complaint was that there were no working ice make machines around the motel - we had to go up to the front desk and get ice from the retaurant. 1. This is a note of the street name correction that should be made by hotels.ca and any others who have it misspelled. The street name is PRINCE OF WALES DRIVE. As far as I know, there are no WHALES in the mighty Rideau River. 2. Our stay at the Monterey Inn Resort was a short overnight visit - we had other things to do in the Ottawa area. We found […] the facilities were adequate for our purpose, which is not to say much. We would not consider it a "resort" where all our needs and desires coud be met without leaving the premises.
